    For layering multiple colors, can the surface be sprayed with water, to help the colors bleed into each other?

      Not for this product introducing water will most likely repel the colorant.
      It will bleed just fine by itself.

    Can colorant be added to solvent sealer to achieve good results?

    Can you use a paint sprayer?

    • @directcolors

      We typically recommend using a plastic pump-up sprayer with the filters removed. However, we've had several customers talk about using a paint sprayer and many have had success with them.

    My concrete slab is very smooth as it's for a garage floor. Will I have issues getting the stain to have character like you're achieving with the textured concrete? The more character the better.

    • @directcolors
      @directcolors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes smoother concrete can limit the stains ability to soak into the concrete and do the job it is intended to do. It is recommended to etch the concrete or ensure the concrete is opened up enough to allow water to be able to soak into the concrete within about 5 minutes. As long as it soaks into the concrete within 5 minutes, the concrete should be open enough to achieve the character you are looking for.

    question: I have some stamped concrete sidewalk that we used pigment on top to color the concrete, will this still penetrate to be able to at least change the color some?

    • @directcolors
      @directcolors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Horacio, if there is no sealer then the stain should penetrate and help change the color. The key thing to know is the sealer needs to be removed and the stains are semi-transparent. That means it may need a darker color than what you have down now. We offer trial kits that come with three colors so you can test your color first.

    Once you spray the stain do you need to clean with ammonia or baking powder ?

      I don’t think you have to neutralize the antiquing. On their website it doesn’t mention neutralizing like it does with the standard acid stain. I wondered the same thing, going to try mine out today!! 😍

    Will this work well on a concrete retaining wall?

    • @directcolors
      @directcolors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will work but you need to apply the Antiquing Stain with a roller or foam brush and use our Solvent Based Satin Acrylic Concrete Sealer to seal with outdoors and it would best be sprayed on with a hvlp sprayer or similar sprayer this way the sealer goes on very thin so you avoid drip lines.

    Living in Las Vegas how long does the sealer last with 100 plus summertime temps

    • @directcolors
      @directcolors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Concrete in full sun will deteriorate faster than concrete in the shade no matter what the ambient temperature might be. A sealer like our Sprayable Satin Finish sealer, www.directcolors.com/product/sprayable-satin-finish-concrete-sealer/, would need to be re-applied once every two years for sure. If gloss isn't an issue for you and the concrete has a relatively smooth finish, you might consider our DCI Lithium Penetrating Sealer Hardener, www.directcolors.com/product/dci-lithium-penetrating-sealerhardener/. As a penetrating sealer, it's a one time application and will last the life of the concrete. Keep in mind it is a matte finish and has a rather dull finish on outdoor concrete. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

    is ther a video on accenting concrete that was already colored in the mixer?
    will that sealer darken up concrete that was colored when batching? i used brownstone in concrete mix but when dried it lightened up to much.

    • @directcolors
      @directcolors  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I would look at the Concrete Overlay Application 101 video to see what concrete looks like with the color mixed in. A solvent based sealer, www.directcolors.com/product/sprayable-satin-finish-concrete-sealer/, will significantly darken the color. A water based sealer will darken somewhat but not nearly as much. You should expect colored concrete to lighten when completely from the initial wet color. To determine if you need a topical colorant, wet the concrete down with water. If you like the color wet, apply a solvent based sealer. If you don't, you might want to consider a product like Liquid Colored Antique for outdoor concrete slabs. Thank you and good luck with your project.
