    Love it. Looks almost exactly to what we put on our basement floor. Stain is a good option for basements especially if a drain backs up, no carpet to worry about. You do good work Mike.

    Hey Mike. This video really helps me out with the staining of concrete. I always have stayed away from staining. But as my small business grows I want to do more of this. I love this side of decorative side of concrete. You and your guys are great and I learned a lot from this videos. Keep up the good work.

    this should be STANDARD on all new homes. Why have tile or carpet when you can have the foundation look like one contiguous piece of stone/marble?

    well hello again from a mainer now living in costa rica - this is the second time i searched youtube for something I was making and the second time i recognized an accent from home - i subscribed after the last video, the minute i heard the voice, i scrolled down and figured it was you - grin - i just had my first go at a polished cement counter top poured in place - (meant a whole lot of steel troweling - every couple of hours -- 12 midnight and i think it is finally good - spray misted it and covered it with plastic for the night - thanks for your videos, and double thanks for speaking a version of "ingles" i recognize - my wife is filipina, our friends and neighbors range from other filipinos, latinos of multiple countries and accents, to germany, france, italy, israel, china, india, and more - sometimes it is easier just to visit in spanish than understand all the variety of english - lol -

    A very organic, natural 'wood' sort of appearance to it ! The mat finish is the best ! You guys should probably be wearing chem-masks though, with the acetone. Those VOCs can hurt you, down the road a piece.

    So glad I found your channel, Mike. I've got a big patio job happening in my yard at the moment. I've picked a stain color and realize I know nothing about concrete sealer finishes -- matte, gloss, semi gloss, low sheen, etc. If I don't try to gain a little knowledge myself, I don't know how to answer the question, "what do you want?" This is the scariest part for a customer -- this isn't what we DO, so it's hard to know what it is we want or what the options are.

    Our house flooded and our hardwood floors are ruined, which were refinished less than 2 years ago after a frozen pipe leak. I think this would be a great solution but insurance isn't paying for flood issues so I hope to eventually get all the warped hardwood up and have this done. Great video. Now I know what is involved when we have this done.

      @Mike Day Concrete update:
      We couldn't get a stain for the floors. I live in a small town and had to order it. But we were able to grind back the floor of one room and just sealed it. Your video made the whole process so easy! While I would have loved to stain the floor (I will be staining the second one) the industrial feel of the raw sealed concrete worked surprisingly well! Old stains show and we didn't seal the cracks first and it actually looks pretty good. Now to see how well the sealer lasts hahaha

    Looks great Mike! I love the variation in colors. I did not hear your suggestion on alternative cleaning methods. I'm thinking maybe acid washing. My DIY project is to restain my front and rear porches. The previous stain done by the previous owner has faded and worn away. I need to keep the anti-skid texture to prevent slipping on the floor when wet. So i will shy away from sanding/cleaning machine. But explain about the alternative cleaning method before i apply stain. Thanks! Donny

      Could be ferrous sulfate, you can get it in garden shops where it is sold in powder form as a lawn moss killer. Use very diluted, it takes a little while to stain as it's by a chemical reaction basically depositing rust. Better to have to spray twice...

    Thanks so much for posting this. I've been wanting to redo the floor in my house for several years; it's covered with wood laminate (pergo) that's been damaged by several floods. By the time I was able to setup a drainage system outside that would prevent that, the damage was done. I had been thinking about putting ceramic tile or stone on the concrete so that it would resemble a stone floor, when I saw a friend's house who did what you demonstrated: Cleaned, stained and sealed his concrete pad. This is exactly what I want for my house and your video showed that it's something I could do, that I don't have to hire someone else to do it for me. I'll definitely check out the Concrete Underground, but this has been a great introduction to staining my slab!

    I’m in process of dealing with hairline cracks in my basement floor. The home is only 12 years old…and I slightly freaked out about the cracks. It s not structural, just settling. We live in western Massachusetts, and the weather has been “wonky”…with snow one day.. rain, followed by temps approaching 60! And this is January! Anyway, we are considering something similar. That line down the middle ….did you guys put that in? We have no such lines…and our basement is huge. I now think we should have. Regarding this floor, you guys did a beautiful job!
