Great job as always Luke! I couldn't help but get deja vu vibes from your breakdown of Fashanu's game. It literally sounds like the descriptions we were getting when we drafted D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Great pass pro, not a mauler in the run game. More finesse than power. This was a great pick after a nice trade down.
Selecting Olu Fashanu proves the Jets have grown ups in the front office now. This is a calculated move, not another chase for a flash in the pan shiny object. These are the New New York Jets.
i am all about building the lines first, that said i got caught up and wanted a top 3 wr badly, i started talking myself into the guys we had here already, truth is oline was the right choice, he will likley play this year due to injuries and we also built for long term as well...joe douglas made a pick like he is here long term...i hope we can package some of thiese late round picks and get up into the second round and grab our wr, and id even like to see another tackle taken in 3rd round and hopefully find a fa rb2 , of course we might have our rb 2 in izzy, which leads me to this, why in the world wasnt izzy getting 20 carries a game the last 3 or 4 weeks of the season, cuz we dont fkin know what we have in izzy cause our head coach wasnt smart enuff to see once we were out of contention ....this staff is still my number 1 concern, i can only give benefit of doubt due to 3rd string qbs playing all year for us and the bettered line...im also open to bringing bekton back if he is really cheap , because the injuries he had can take a year or 2 for them to get back to his rookie form which was impressivie
People don't get caught in the hand size and run blocking. He'll never be near the league worse as a run blocker and his pass blocking right now and as it improves is legit. This is a W pick ✈️
Hell yeah. He's already elite as a pass blocker compared to the rest of the NFL LT's/ He reminds me of both Tyron Smith and Silverback Trent Williams #UptownBaby #JetsFanFromFiji
Well Mate, your break down was the cherry on top. You know I was pissed last night after I saw the pick that our beloved Jets made. But, after I cooled down and looked up all the film of our newest swing/ future Tackle, I have warmed up to him. Especially when I read that he didn't give up a sack at all during his time in college. That's insane. The only thing that I could push back on is that he has only played on the left side of the line . But, Mo can teach him to play the right side, while Smith can take him under the wing and truly teach him how to protect Rogers blind side. Olu, welcome to our Jets Nation family. We should start calling this kid, stone wall Olu. As always Mate, thank you for the break down. Looking forward to your next videos.
@@deefrom5829 Close 2nd only for me. Don't get me wrong that's 3 first rounders we are talking about. But this Fashanu pick will ensure both short and long term success.
@@beibei93it’s not nonsense Bowers is a great football Player, you would’ve been happy to have drafted him just like people who didn’t want Olu are happy now , like me.
Idk how to feel really.. am i the only one that has an issue with a team that is on "win now" mode, and they draft a player thats not starting? I meam there were a few players they could've drafted in "win now" mode that would've help day one, like B.Bowers for example, a generational talent in my opinion.
Folks claiming that this is very unlike Douglas' typical selections, I disagree - it's a classic Douglas-style upside gamble on a raw prospect with intriguing traits, who demonstrated little in the way of technical consistency/sophistication. The fact that he might not have to start right away is huge - he's gonna need a whole lot of seasoning. Let's hope it's a winning gamble
I've ben a Jets fan this whole millenium. Fan iss not the 1st gigantic tacckle to come in here looking great on film. This is the NFL. He'll be facing the best in the league every week. So, those inabilities we saw are dangerous on the next level. It only takes one to get the QB blown up for the season. So, you'll excuse me, if I see how he takes to his lessons. See, because he is going to see aa lot of twist, especially if that is his Kryptonite. So, he's goin g to get some improvement training and we'll see how he does in the preseason. He will be tested.
Much better now that we've reinforced our O-line to protect Aaron Rodgers and give us a future starter who can come in if we have an injury to Smith or Moses.
Maybe I’m just being negative, and great break down, but am I the only one a little nervous how he doesn’t have a lot of “nasty” to him? Again maybe I’m overly negative and don’t mean to be. I wanted offensive line so hoping he turns into a dominant LT
The only reason they drafted him was so he can learn under Smith and Moses, they want to groom him for the future , which makes total sense. BUT- our offense stinks ! Would’ve much rather drafted the offensive weapon to help us score points and win football games.
@PlayLikeAJet yeah this is not a quarterback that needs to sit this is actually a tackle so I'm not sure why we'd be excited about when Now situation for someone that has to sit
@@christophermirkovich7290 he will not sit the whole season, do you really think Tyron Smith will stay healthy ? The last time Tyron was fully healthy was 2015 since then he was injured now and then. Olu will play an important role this season.

Yeah I think there are some similarities for sure
Brick was a all pro and was day 1 Ready this guy is raw but very good

Definitely a longer term move too
This was a pivot after they couldn’t get Odunze to be fair
It proves that Joe Douglas wants to keep his job and make sure Aaron Rodgers stays upright.

Too little too late lol
I'm fing EXCITED JET UP BABY!!
Let’s go
This and a wide receiver were the main pieces we needed maybe a backup tight end for the future as well
Great video. The guy clearly has all the skills, some more polished then others but he's only 21!!! Lets Go Jets. Lets go Olu!
The age is a huge factor
Excited for this season and the breakdowns.Lets go JETS!

Its not the sexy pick, but the most needed pick
It depends. They could have just signed smith or Bak and been completely fine for 2024 in a win now window.
I’m just focusing on the player

Yeah it’s a factor. Someone brought up Brick. Not a bad example of a similar style player
He’s definitely a finesse offensive lineman , that’s what you get with guys who can just pass block
This will be a pick in the future that we will be thanking joe Douglas for after he is fired and there is a new regime here.

Did u not see the worst oline last yr?
The QB being in shot gun in every one of these clips concerns me.
The tiny hands don’t show up on tape 😂
Mel Kiper said he had to sit and Joe Blewett really doesn't like him how to move down one position for this guy you could have got Morgan from Arizona

Felt like it was a bit of a reach but if he’s the guy for 10 years no one will care
I think he was a 12-15 type player on most big boards. I think it’s more just whether you liked a tackle or Bowers (I had Fuaga slightly higher)
@@PlayLikeAJet agree on Fuaga especially considering his guard flexibility
As much as I like Fuaga, our pick is a true left tackle which is a premium pick and left tackles are very expensive to find and sign in free agency.
@@michaelstam-xz7ek agree.. if he’s a true dominant pass blocker on the left side the pick is well worth it
