With the village experiment, it kinda tells a sort of story, the skulk took over from the deep dark, slowly spreading to the surface, eventually a shrieker grew on the surface, and the villagers, not knowing what it is, awakened it, causing the warden to show up, and killing any life on the surface, leaving nothing but skulk alive
And eventually the skulk broke down the houses and after many many years life the skulk went dormant waiting through the ages but mysteriously the player spawned In and the skulk being a hivemind it felt him walking on it and awakened deploying its defenses but it still lived and started to destroy it but the skulk had spreaded across the world so it was a war that would never end until the player died or the skulk was annihilated a near impossible task
I love that, notorious industrialist and pyromaniac Luke The Notable, who has obliterated entire ecosystems in his 3000 days playthrough, actually planted a forest because in a world filled with abominations from beneath the Earth, it was a comfort to actually see trees XD
I like how Luke managed to create an entire new genera of Videos on YT with 100 Days (and by extension 100 Drops) series. Even Mr. Beast did a 100 days hardcore video! Unfortunately, a lot of the other videos in the genera aren't nearly as high quality as Luke's, but it's still cool to see our guy have such an impact!

Because Skulk only grows from the death of nearby Mobs that means your entire world is one large *Mass Grave* now it kinda makes sense why they're aren't any villagers they are all probably dead and make up the ground around you. Edit: Regarding the redstone contraptions you found they're test from the people who used to live in the ancient cities on sound and by extension the Warden and its abilities to detect you or at least that is the working theory most people have. It's probably true just based on how the contraptions are set up and what they do.
I love how much this changes minecraft. It goes from an adventure survival game, to a avoid that monster/ stealth game with this one change. Fighting isn't the solution, avoiding it is.

About that nether wart farming, looting on tools affects plants as well as ores. You could have used the looting hoe to get more nether wart drops. Super helpful when you’re only starting with a few plants!

Hey Luke, I have a video idea: 100 days hardcore in one chunk. You make the world border to one chunk and try survive. It’s really difficult because there are a lot of mobs cause there is only one chunk for them to spawn in.

The Iron's Spells & Spellbooks mod has a particular nice drop that can be found in Ancient City chests. Apart from that- the loot is certainly terrible unless you're big into collecting music discs on your run.
3:43 Lore reason: It is leftovers from the ancients that built the city, they were experimenting with it. Gameplay reason: It shows the player some basic redstone, and player can change it and see how it works.
