There was a billing error 4.5 years ago that caused some users to be re-subscribed to Skillshare after cancelling around June 2020. Some were able to get the subscription cancelled with support, while others contacted their credit card company. It's definitely a bad look, but as it's been nearly 5 years without any more hiccups like that, I'm willing to forgive it as a one-time mistake. That's true, there are ways to make a similar world to what the Skylands/Sky Dimension would have looked like. From 1.13 to 1.17 there was a Floating Islands world type, and since 1.16 you can create a dimension with the Floating Island noise generator using datapacks. I don't think they're identical to the Sky Dimension, but they're definitely similar
there have been previous instances of unobfuscated code but that completely stopped with indev ive called those pieces my rosetta stones, but this was basically being handed the dictionary of a dead language the more important part is that this build doesnt have "dead code" removed. for example coral isnt used anywhere in the codebase so proguard (what they use for obfuscation) removes it, because proguard isnt just an obfuscator its an optimizer too though given that ive torn apart the different game jars so many times none of the stuff in there was particuarly revolutionary to me, it was moreso fun to see how close i got my own names for stuff to the originals. more than i expected.
I don't understand why they still obfuscate the code since they now publicly release deobfuscation tables. That's just not obfuscating with extra steps.

The best choice would be C, or better yet make a new C-like language that isn't ancient and solves C's problems. C++ is a bad language, it leads to unmaintainable code, and it's even worse for applications that need real-time speed (which includes games), because it encourages inefficient object oriented models. He also could have used a version of OpenGL that wasn't ancient even back then. And nowadays Vulkan would be better.
Not really. It was supposed to be a web game at first. It was either that or Flash. Also, Java isn't as slow as you'd think. Minecraft's performance plugins aren't doing anything hacky, they're just working around Notch's naïve coding. Most of it is just taking advantage of modern graphics APIs.

This version (or was it a different one from the same era?) also had a test for a controller support. A friend of mine runs a Alpha multiplayer server which uses a custom client, they decided to integrate this feature into it.

Beta 1.2 is not new, that was officially released. This, however, is a special developer's version of Minecraft based off of Beta 1.2_02. This was never released, and these secret builders are exclusive to this version. The coral, Skylands, and brick house were all (presumably) in the publicly released versions of Minecraft around that time, but because the code was all obfuscated, nobody could access them (except the Skylands, some people made some mods for Beta 1.6-Beta 1.8 that enabled the Skylands, which I showed in this video).
I see where you're getting confused - Microsoft bought Mojang a few years after 1.0, but like @bilektugrul mentioned, Notch created Mojang in 2009 just before he started working on Minecraft. He eventually left in 2014 once he sold Mojang (and Minecraft) to Microsoft.

True, this wasn't discovered like yesterday, but it's still very recent. I wanted to cover the version as soon as it released, but I was waiting in hopes that we'd get more information about who discovered it and how. Not much came out of that, but since I waited, players have made the version much easier to play and developed mods for it that make it easy to check out the hidden features like Secret Builders and coral, so that's pretty fun :)
Minecraft bedrock is the version I grew up on and I will never forget it even when I get a gaming pc to play java. Also bedrock is glitchy af and I hate the bedrock chat

technically speaking xperia play was a basic android phone but with gamepad, and sony had made their own store for it.
