Great idea for recently sold homes, we have been doing that for a few years now. I just wanted to point out that if the sign says “pending” or “under contract” then likely the original owners are still in the home and the new homeowners will never see the door hanger.

usps jurisdiction is strictly mailboxes. if you're putting things in their mailbox then that's an issue. doors are not.
