    good video its amazing that a person takes the time and effort to upload a free video to help people then people "jump all over it and micromanage every possible mistake" or shortcoming compared to had it been a big budget hollywood movie--if that was the case we would not have 95% of these help videos.

    Using brake parts cleaner on electrical components, especially ones having to do with the fuel injection system, is just fucking stupid. A lot of these parts have a PTFE (look it up) coating on them, and the brake parts cleaner eats it off. I also wouldn't go blasting WD-40 etc. in there. Just buy some goddamn Throttle Body cleaner spray, or MAF sensor cleaner etc.

      Thank you for the kind words. One of the reasons for this channel is to help keep our cars on the road.
      If you are going to DIY your car then i would suggest OEM parts.
      It is just so much more fun to get a part that "fits and sits" and works lasts.
      aftermarket is ok but more likely to get some issues with parts not fitting 100%

    Ultra sonic cleaner for TPS. Works like a charm and as long as you let it dry fully it can restore your TPS.

    • @Volvo5Cylinder
      @Volvo5Cylinder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank for the great cleaning tip :) yes I guess the would be one of the most gentle ways possible to clean it. But cleaning can not restore the sensor if the sliding contacts within are faulty or damaged.
      I need to consider getting a ultrasonic cleaner, as it should also be good for cleaning injectors.

    In fact throttle position sensor is a potentiometer.The best option would be to open it up and clean it inside,if this is possible of course.Or else try to open it up by cutting along the seam between two sides of its cover.

      Volvo 5 Cylinder unless, of course you own a newer one like a 2002 and it's more like $700 and you can only get them from the dealer. And they are sealed inside a housing where you "can't" get to them without tearing it apart.

    • @Volvo5Cylinder
      @Volvo5Cylinder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These can also be fixed. There is a kit that you can buy that includes the drop in electronics that converts the "magneti mirelli" throttle body form a "contact measurement" to inductive "non contact" measurement.
      But yes you need to open the TB and glue it back together.

    I agree you probably shouldn't use brake cleaner but if you are in a pinch, gotta go with what you got. For all the experts commenting on here about cleaning the TPS why in the hell did you click on this video if you are experts??? 🤦‍♂ I do question weather the cleaning fluid actually gets into it. I watched a video with a guy taking it apart and cleaning the contacts inside, not sure this method really would do a whole lot. I just cleaned mine so we'll see if it did anything or I gotta get a new one. I used electronic parts cleaner for anyone interested. I'm sure some TH-cam expert geniuses from behind their keyboards, never actually doing any vehicle repairs, will tell me that's wrong lol.

    • @Volvo5Cylinder
      @Volvo5Cylinder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose this method I use if more a way of clearing the contacts by moving the gunk out to the edges and sides. So it more or less does not remove dirt unless it will flow out with the excess cleaning fluid making it dirty.
      But it works if the testing methods in the video are to be believed. :)

    so i'm literally getting no ohm reading whatsoever when testing any of the three prongs on my TPS (1991 volvo 240) onyl see "OL" on the multimeter - any idea what's going on? this is a bosch TPS - thank you.
    EDIT: i see - the reason is because the TPS on a volvo 240 is NOT a potentiometer - it's literally a black casing with two independent "switches" inside it - one makes contact when the accelerator is not depressed whatsoever (idle) and the other makes contact at WOT (wide open throttle) - there is no resistance to measure except for when each of those are closed circuits - everything inbetween is going to read OL

    You are jumping over important details, like you can't say "jam it into the side connectors"! Which connectors? There are the power, the signal and the ground! Without specifying which connector! Mine has 1, 2, 3, but regardless, one is power, another is the signal and the other is the ground. Which connectors? this is all but useless! Identifying them as 1, 2, or 3 is not useful information, which of these are the power, the ground and the signal wire? That would be useful!
