It's really upsetting the amount of gatekeepers that the fishing community is seeing as of recent. A whole lot less inviting, helping eachother, teaching eachother, and ultimately enjoying, and a whole lot more protective and confrontational attitude. When I first started watching fishing on TH-cam, a lot of the community was about tutorials, gear, education on fisheries, general areas and types of spots, reviews of said areas for content, etc. But i feel a large portion of the community just partakes in a lot of clout fishing, "put in your time", and "this is my spot you don't belong here". I guess that includes angry locals too. But Adam thank you for taking the time to educate us and take us on your journeys instead of just flexing. It means a lot that you care about the fisheries, the community, and the environment.

Nice job on retrieving Ense's gear! It was fun to watch a segment of real-life angling that we all have gone through. Even though it didn't involve a fish it is part of the adventure and quit a hairy moment scrambling on that log. Plus, I hate leaving tackle in the water. If you can't retrieve it, it becomes garbage!
the way i see it, keeping a couple big ones and letting the small ones go actually does help the population, as long as they aren't overfished. the big ones have already contributed to the population when they spawn in the Fall. that's why the season opens up in spring and ends in fall. the big ones eat up all the resources and creates competition for food and finding a mate

I wouldn't be so quick to reach that conclusion.. @@MasterCrowOutdoors The way I see it is that there's no doubt for a second that YT has caused an exponential growth in fishing popularity. There are both positive and negative aspects to it. That being said, an angler getting angry with someone wearing a camera and threatening them not to film or harassing them if they do film is flat out wrong, both morally and legally, and it is also an uphill battle. I recognize many of the spots, I grew up fly fishing for steelhead there with my father and grandfather. Two things I noticed. 1) beware of crossing a river with down logs downstream. That’s called a strainer and usually how people drown wading. You made an unsafe crossing. 2) The few times you missed the fish you set the hook by lifting rod straight up in the air. When you drifting your fly or in your case a jig down stream and want to set the hook, don’t lift the rod straight up, that is pulling the hook out of the fish’s mouth. Instead if you are on right side of bank drifting down stream you set the hook by pulling your rod down and to the right. If on left bank you pull down and to the left. You won’t miss anymore fish that way. Try it, I think you will notice you miss less hook sets.

TH-camrs have ruined many a river in washington by saying the name of the river. You do a good job by not naming the river you're on. Good bank fishing spots are few and far between and can be crowded and covered in trash with one mention on youtube
the only problem i would see with people filming is the pollution that comes with more people knowing the spots. i never heard you say to keep the spots clean but i assume you dont throw things out. like Lief says, leave with more trash than you came with. It's all about the garbage that people leave behind and it would be my main reason for not wanting a spot to be known. edit: i wrote this before seeing the end of your video lol. maybe you can organize a youtubers cleanup days and then make a cookout
I don't hate on ya but.... the reason the 2-5% ers do, is because they, like myself, have been steelheading there and other rivers for many, many years and long before social media or even the internet... and we had to learn the hard way = by absolutely GRINDING and learning through trial and error. Unfortunately the locals only attitude isn’t practiced enough. Too many people sit back and just do nothing as these tutorial watching googans walk around spot burning and trashing areas. It’s not the TH-camrs it’s their viewers. I know you’ve been a good steward in that regard and don’t condone that attitude. Fishing has gone from a time when you got your knowledge from family and friends from years of experience to a 10 minute you tube tutorial. It’s sad but that’s the way it is. the only problem i would see with people filming is the pollution that comes with more people knowing the spots. i never heard you say to keep the spots clean but i assume you dont throw things out. like Lief says, leave with more trash than you came with. It's all about the garbage that people leave behind and it would be my main reason for not wanting a spot to be known.
edit: i wrote this before seeing the end of your video lol. maybe you can organize a youtubers cleanup days and then make a cookout
I hate when people ruin your fishing day.
don't advertise this river. this river does not need any more pressure!
“This river”… another episode of how to fish but not where to fish.
Somewhat hypothetical.
I don't hate on ya but.... the reason the 2-5% ers do, is because they, like myself, have been steelheading there and other rivers for many, many years and long before social media or even the internet... and we had to learn the hard way = by absolutely GRINDING and learning through trial and error. Level of expertise AND more importantly, of appreciation... increases exponentially when one has to work hard for and earn the rewards of fishing or any endeavor worth endeavoring :) PEACE, Mark
Not any one person is more entitled to what is in that river than the other, no matter how long they've fished there, lived there, etc.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard so much whining from your viewers Adam, then this bunch.
Karen’s gonna be Karen’s.😂
If you guys don’t like his TH-cam channel, start your own .
Was his name was karen?
No matter where you go, there’s always gonna be a Karen out there mad at you for being you. Lol.
This weekend 2 Karens cuss me out because they didn’t like how I was handling the fish I caught. Haters gonna hate
But you gotta respect new faces because you don’t know everyone’s struggle. But I will forever live by if I see something I will say something. Trash our spots and we’ll break your face. Respect the land and fishery that you don’t frequent and be courteous that is all anyone wants.
U know to me as long as they respect th3 river and the area no one owns the river and its a public river anyone can fish it..same with hunting area. It's open public and anyone can hunt or fish it..I pay for my own lic to hunt and fish legally just like everyone else..so no one can tell me where I can't hunt or fish unless it's private.
You ran into a Karen in the wild
You think that one is a deep hole you should see my ex,ha ha just goofing around. I never cought a chrome steelhead but I have got some nice salmon in the Trinity river and out of Halfmoon Bay.
I live near the Trinity. River has really gone down hill. Poor numbers of trout.
Your videos do not Spot Burn the location. And that to me makes all the difference.
Yes, they all do. Every time he drops a video there are guys there the next day. Ive done it multiple times. You can take any one of his videos and find out exactly where he was.
You should practice fly fishing for steelhead... it would seem fun and I think they use egg pattern for steelhead to... and I head it's more easy to vast under a tree if you use the right casting tactics
All the guys trying to talk shit bout the locals who are trying to preserve this river are kooks. If your a real fisherman you don’t watch TH-cam videos to get it down you get out an do it. And if you weren’t looking to profit from the river you wouldn’t have a bunch of links and discount codes in the description. The river is finally coming back to life an then you got some kook blowin it up with TH-cam videos
It’s not like you’re naming the river you’re fishing on and exact location. Only people that are gonna know are the one that know. Can’t stand these righteous hypocrites who just wanna hear themselves talk and pretend they are educated.
Dude, do yourself a favor and get yourself some real waders with wader boots. Way better for Rambo hiking like your doing!
Will do!
I tell them to mind their fn business
First 🙌🏼‼️
u werent first lol
@@ReelAZMatt thanks comment monitor 🤣 who the fucc cares
Never understand this - you don't give names, directions, parking spots etc. Anybody who can pickup the exact river & hole based on the background in the video, has been there before!!
Totally agree!
Near the Monterey area. Doesn't look like our rivers up north.
seriously stop using rainbow trout as bait!
