There will never be a show like MASH. That was lightning in a bottle.
This show lives forever. I think the only reason it was ended was that it lasted longer than the Korean war itself. The actors were top notch, and those that replaced others were just as good in their own right. So sad so many of them aren't with us anymore. 😢 I can remember exactly where I was when the last episode aired. No VCR, so you had to adjust your schedule to the network. Does everyone else who watched it when it aired remember it as vividly as I do? Likely the best TV series in the history of TV. IMHO
What a valued point Hawk. War is war..and hell is hell.
This show was perfection!
Alan Alda said it was important that they show that all of the characters had been wounded by the experience. The scene with Hawkeye and Sidney was, without a doubt, one of the most intense scenes that they ever wrote/played. Very often, MASH showed how the characters came together in horrible situations. Hawkeye faces this alone. Even Sidney is horrified by the truth, and he is the best trained to deal with it.
I was an 11 year old boy when this aired. Everyone I knew, was utterly devastated at seeing Hawkeye driven insane.
Every main character in the end lost something. Hawkeye his sanity, Charles his love of music, Mulcahy his hearing. I believe BJ lost his best friend, and Margaret her soulmate (both Hawkeye). I’m not totally sure what Potter lost (maybe Sophie?) while Klinger’s could be his chance to return home.
This show is so important in my life ... I had this routine when I was in college, at OSU... study 'till 22h00 in the library, then go home, sometimes I would pass by a McDonald's for a takeaway, just 2 apple pies and meet my brother at home where we would both watch it together, in my room, where we had the tv set, with our apple pies and milk.
We both thought it was a great piece of work, so well made, wondeful characters, with a refined and great sense of humor, yet reminding us of how fragile life can be.
Everyone in college wanted to be at the last Mash bash anywhere. I just stayed at my bedroom, where I always watxhed it. Wy house mate joined in, my brother had graduated and didn't see it. We kept.talking about it afterwards. He went to heaven last year and I miss him so much.
Seeing those special moments bring back a bittersweet memory of beautiful days gone by ... may beautiful mémoires rest with all of you always.
Great selection. It was hard, to choose I suppose. I just miss two moments - the whole farewell of Col. Potter, Margaret, Charles, B.J. and Hawkeye and when Charles gives the chocolates to the orphanage
I love Alan Alda 💖 you are, simply, irreplaceable...
Last episode of MASH made people cry 😭 of Last world of good bye
That was SUCH a hard episode to watch.
It was 😢
Little known fact about radar, he has a deformed left hand that he keeps covered up as much as possible, you can sometimes catch a quick glimpse of his very tiny fingers. He’s always holding a clipboard or something. Hand in pocket etc.. I love him so much and he’s one of the best drummers to live!
Best tv-series i've ever seen for sure.
is this the only show you've ever seen by any chance
Such a fantastic show,. One I can go back to again and again. Easy watching and endless fun.
When Frank screams “AIR RAID!” I love how nobody believes him.
The one where the mother smothered her own baby was a very strong episode
Based on a real-life event from the Korean War.
These were all my favourites but I especially loved the Christmas one when Radar and Father Mulcahy get gifts from HOME ! Winchester's Toque!
One of the greatest shows of all time!
"M*A*S*H" was a book and a movie before it was a TV show!
Thank you Captain Obvious.
Will never get enuf...great acting all the way around
my fav moment was when Charles admitted that, "For me, music was always a refuge from this miserable experience. And now it will always be a reminder".
This will always be my favorite show!
Hot lips and Frank Burns taught me as a kid about cheating.
Kim ll Sung of North Korea. He started the whole Korean war and he was never mentioned on Mash once!
OWN This
The first 5 seasons were golden, after that it just became a platform for Alda to pontificate on morose matters.
The first two seasons was lackluster with a few true gems thrown in . Three and after was vastly better as the show grew up. The comedy was far less juvenile and they mixed it with pathos brilliantly.
Rader was the best i stopped watching it when he left
I loved it when Radar left the show!😊
Hawkeye could really be an egotistical crreep😢
M*A*S*H* Final Episode Was So Awful How Could The Writers Be So Stupid ???
And that’s why it got the most viewers of any Finale of a TV show on record…
It was brilliant.
The last episode of M*A*S*H was amazing Steven Novak.
The only character in the show I could nt stand was freaking Radar and his stupid looking hat!
No idea how true it is, but I think I read a long time ago, that he was difficult to work with.
