- Its Dark Souls Time! This so called "Redemption Run" was said to have facecam, death counter, & no excuses... well we got 2 of those 3... can you guess which one he failed to do... That's right! NO EXCUSES! Many, Many, Many, Excuses. Be prepared for 'I was blocking' 'khamboed me' 'nothing i can do' 'stupid game' 'inconsistent' and so much more. Also by about half way in he started to use the black knight halberd and breeze through so many bosses making most of his run easy.

Goddamn it. RNG really fucked us on this one. If that black knight halberd didn't drop at the beginning of the playthrough this would be so much more entertaining. His build ends up being high poise, high dps, high hp which means he can tank pretty much everything in the game. Really a letdown.

I killed the bridge zombie dragon by shooting 2000 arrows at it. But I'm don't claim I'm the best gamer, blame the game, or say I was forced to do it that way. I just wanted out of the painting and thought the bridge was the way out. I was almost out of Moss to cure poison, so I cheesed it. Then I found out it wasn't even the exit. So finally I looked up how to exit the painting. Maybe I'll do a "Redemption Run" now that I know everything and don't need to look things up. Then I can say I beat it without looking anything up.

I find it funny that Phil's channel banner says "full playthroughs" yet he never came back to finish that Persona game which may I remind you was PATRON'S CHOICE. That's like flipping the metaphorical bird to your entire fan base. Dedicated fans requested him to finish Persona 3 yet he just quit. He was so close to the end too. I think after defeating that boss that made him quit the game would have been over. Then again he did the same exact thing with Mega Man X3. Only difference. That was not hyped up as a Patron's Choice playthrough.

Use whatever tools are offered I guess but man were the later parts of his playthrough a complete snorefest. Especially for a "Redemption run". His 100% reliance on his equipment doesn't let him learn anything, just do the exact same thing against all enemies... and complain loudly if your OP build actually gets challenged by something. It's like DS2 Lightning Spear again. He finds this one trick and spams it through all of the game, then throws a fit when it doesn't work (Looking Glass Knight says hi). That's a complete antithesis of learning. Those who actually learn can adapt.
And fast forward to 2022, he's doing the exact same shit in Elden Ring, big overpowered halberd and exclusively using jump attacks

Also I didn't cling to it, if it didn't work I just used another weapon. And I appreciate these games for forcing these changes and using other strategies because of mistakes.
Long story short I only used the skill if it was safe to use, but you know what? 30 mins on Malenia says that works to perfection.

All that nonsense about how he's learned so much about soulsborne and how these game works, and as suspected he goes where the fence it at it's absolute lowest. 4kings just tanked to death, eating every attack and chugging through it. Disgusting.
It's honestly amazing. DS1 is very slow paced compared to the other games, but if you offer DSP a shortcut, he will forget any skill he might otherwise possess and just focus on using said shortcut. That Capra Demon fiasco was the perfect example - it's a piss easy boss, you just roll through the attacks and punish it. But no, he heard you can run up the ledge above it and jump down to cheese it. So he dies tons of times running up and down the ledge taking fall damage. Just get in the boss' face, learn the attacks, roll through them and kill the damn boss. It works in all the other games. DS3 bosses had way more attacks and were faster in general. It's really not that hard.

Is the black halberd that busted? I only messed with the greatsword for a bit until the silver sword got similar stats. Then I upgraded a spear and electrified the barbed sword, on top of my personal favorite: Quelaag's blade... but I had to use Moonlight to take on the final boss.

DS1 version (which Phil used here) begins with 245 base power and caps at 357 with its halberd range.
DS3 version (Black Knight Glaive) begins at 159 and caps at 278, same range as DS1 BUT it's not an enemy drop and you obtain it outside the eclipsed shrine (after Champion Gundyr, which is available in a side path to the final Lord of Cinder). Comparatively, a lucky drop in DS1 gives it to you as soon as the first halberd Black Knight you face falls.
Now I understand why it's seen as "easy mode", dayum. On top of the buff when used on demons.
Edit: His level alone makes this run ridiculous.

Nah you don't actually. 120 is normal level for PvP in NG and he was level 94 when he finished (or around that) so no. But still ridiculous nonetheless.

That is true. If you are level 73 with knight, put 32 in Str, 18 dex and then skilled nothing else but End then you can wear that all and mid roll.
Looking at his life bar I somehow assume that he at least put 10-20 points in Vitality, though.
I mean this can simply be solved by someone telling us what level he is.

You cannot seriously take the PvP meta level as a measurement for average level to beat NG.
You'd get 900.000 (without +%) souls from all the bosses combined and need 3.500.000 to reach lvl 120.
If we go by that standard then Bloodborne's meta is around 100-120 and he was *only* at 90-something when he beat it.
You might be right, though, and I'm just exaggerating because I barely reach lvl 60 at NG.
If you beat NG at anything above level 80 I think you're probably bad at the game to be quite honest.

Phil pretending to be surprised that the dragon legs in the painted world stood up is just pathetic. You can count how many times he uses jumping attacks on one hand, but randomly decides to use it on that particular enemy.
Another thing I noticed is that he explicitly joined the chaos servant covenant, which is how he got the back way into izaleth, and more specifically, he gave the spoder firekeeper a minimum 30 humanity. How the fuck would someone like him, who just wants to beat the game and be done, as we've seen countless times, go out of his way to do all of that unless he knew what it would do? He hoards souls and everything else, so why would he even think to spend his humanity unless he knew there would be gain? He either had the chat tell him or he looked it up. Another thing none of the montages of this playthrough seem to call out, but is worth noting, since he didn't want to use anything but what the game gave him to do this playthrough, according to what he said at the beginning.
Ways to attract an audience.
1. Open with snorting all that gunk in your nose loudly into the mic.
2. Repeat step 1 every 30 seconds.
3. Complain about the game from start to finish.
4. Blame the developers at any cost.
5. Generally be a disgusting human being.

Phil did surprisingly well with elements of O&S - During the gank phase he actually had pretty good timing when it came to avoiding Smough's hammer.
In phase 2 he just had some UNBELIEVABLE luck. He was playing so defensively but his timing wasn't as good. But he somehow kept ending up JUST outside the range of certain hits. Like, that's one of the luckiest runs I've ever seen at that boss. How he managed to avoid Smough's electric butt stomp that final time before he won is absolutely beyond me.
Ultimately O&S aren't that hard. They have a reputation because most players weren't good at the game and weren't ready for actual challenge. If you space them out and jave good dps it's not a hard fight. But maybe I'm just speaking from my expereince as I've done a SL1 run and a broken sword only run.

too be fair he said he beat the dlc his first run back in 2013... also in hindsight, i couldve left out the dlc since 1, ive never played the dlc myself and 2, he really doesnt do that bad, one shots bosses, for the most part because of his op weapon and overleveled. i probably wasnt even at his level during my ng++ run.

I always get Strength up to 50 so I can use Havel's Greatshield. It absolutely works wonders every time.
I feel like I'm getting a chance to glimpse into another reality, wherein DSP plays Dark Souls anew for the first time. This is fucking with my head, but I can't say that I'm not enjoying the ride. If only I could watch every iteration of a DSP playing Dark Souls, I'd be happy forever. His suffering gives me sustenance, I could live forever.

He actually plays okay here, maybe even slightly above average for a normal player, atleast for the first 1/4 of the game. I don't think I have seen many people get to Undead Parish with only 4 deaths. Most normal people don't snort into mics though.

Y’know, at first it is all fun and games just laughing at him but once he hits the Tomb of Giants and beyond I sorta start feeling bad for him. The game simply sucks ass during that area.

@@jakemealey489 I have to agree with you. Tomb of the Giants is a pretty cool area. Personally I get the Sunlight Maggot helm which makes it way easier to navigate and you don't have to sacrifice your shield for it. That and Gravellord Nito is a pretty fun boss.
