========================================================
The 27mm 2.8 is Fujifilms smallest lens. Not only is this thing tiny it's tough and lightweight.
For those who love shooting street photography on the down low, or perhaps a compact set up for travel this maybe the lens for you.
In this Review I give you my personal perspective of real world use of the lens combined with fuji xt line of cameras.

Straight to the point review mate. 👍 I just ordered one today to compliment my 18mm f2. Your review validate my purchase. Cheers 🍻
Oh that’s awesome nice one!! And i’m glad you enjoyed the review, have fun. 👌🏻
Thanks - great story - definitely on my list - seems they are still a bit new to come up used very often
👌🏻👊🏻 Always worth keeping an eye out, they do come up now and again.
Thanks. Agreed. This is a really good small lens.
👌🏻🙏
The music video was really cool and well done.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Always try and sneak some of my music into the videos. 💪🏻🙃
Excellent video 😊!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. 🙌🏻
I had the original version and thought it was fine but ended-up selling as I wanted a lens with an aperture ring. Welcome TTartisan. Now, the only reason I can see why the Fuji 27mm might be an option is the WR tag. Great video btw.
Thanks for sharing! I have to admit I haven’t used the TTartisan, but I am hearing good things about it. The WR always makes me feel better even though I hardly shoot in the rain. 😅
DXO PureRaw and DXO PhotoLab is the best noise reduction. They update their newer software a few months after the release for X-Trans sensors so check if it works with Fuji before you buy.
👍🏻
I am waffling between this and FujiFilm’s 23mm f2 (or possibly even a Voigtlander if I can come up with the $$) for a walkaround ‘street’ lens. I have Sigma’s 18-50 f2.8 zoom, so I may just do a recon tour with that lens set at 27mm to see if it’s a focal length I can get cozy with.
Thanks for the great video!
Oo yeah that’s a tough one… I like your thinking, seeing how you feel about the focal length sounds like a good plan and fun exercise to me. 😁👍🏻
go for the 23 bro..have both..the rendering of it is way better than the 27
There's a TT Artisans 27mm 2.8 that's cheap and worth a go too.. that's living on my M1 now as a throw-in-the-bag everyday. It's quite 'filmic' and not ultra crisp but I like that, makes some pretty good looking images imo :)
I have the voigtlander 27mm it's very good
I have the TTartisan version of this. Only £160 , love the little lens on my XT30II .Its perfect to chuck in my pocket on a dogs walk. Might have to upgrade it to the Fujifilm version
Oh nice, as they say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! But if you have the money the Fuji lens is really nice to use. Exactly pancake lenses are great for that… 👌👍🏻👊🏻
As someone who did just this I will mention, the AF is faster and quieter on the TT version. I really just upgraded for the lack of vignetting wide open and WR.
I have the first version of this lens the one without the aperture ring. The newer version from reviews is a tad bitter sharper but I think once stopped down they are both about the same.
You can get some really nice photos with this lens but you have to think in 27mm or the 40.5mm.
Thanks for sharing 🙏
The 37mm 2.8 was my first prime, but it never worked for me.
I got the 35mm 1.4 instead and its now glued to my x-t5, replaced my standard zoom.
It’s great to have the option to go down to 1.4 specially in low light. 💪🏻 thanks for sharing your experience. 👍🏻
Up until now, I'm still torn whether to re-buy this back, or go for the 23mm f2... I had the 27mm f2.8 mark 1 before but it had the focus motor issue, I had it repaired but the issue came back so I just sold it and went with the 35mm f2 instead. I really miss the portability of the 27 but I'm thinking of trying the 23mm f2 since I feel like it will complement well with my 35... :(
That is a tough decision! Hope you make the right choice 😂👌🏻
This is my go-to lens for street photography. Why get the fixed lens X100 series when you can use this lens on ANY body instead.
🙌🏻 so true!
X100 series is all in one. It's like carrying a swiss army knife. Sure you can get each individual tool separately, but that's the appeal for me...one and done. One and run. Put on your boots and get ready to shoot. Compact body. Compact lens. Harmony in everything including aesthetics. Plus...x100 lens is 2.0, which is a technical accomplishment in itself.
With that being said, this lens is beautiful though to say the least.
I use the 27mm on my X-E3,- this is so awesome stealthy gear....
Superb 🙏
so far i'm happy i bought this lens
It’s a great little lens! 👊🏻
@@BenjahMedia agree Sir
Classic street focal length, super sharp, effective minimum distance... it's a beast. Walk the streets with these 3: xf50mmf2,Xf27mm , Xf16mmf1.4...
🙌🏻👌🏻
Would this be worth using on my XPro3 vs. using my 23mm f/2 or 35mm f/2? Would the lens size reduction be worth going to this "pancake" lens?
Optically you wouldn’t need the 27mm but practically you just can’t beat the size of this thing. I mean if you have the extra money and you want the luxury of having a super small set up, I would recommend. Hope that helps 😅 💪🏻
What is the image quality compared to the 23mm 1.4? Thanks.
I prefer the 23mm purely because of the 1.4 aperture. As far as image quality I mean that’s totally subjective, but both quality lenses. 🙂
I have the first version . the one that does not have the aperture ring. I am considering to exchange it for the version shown here. I am disappointed to hear that it is still noisy . All of these lenses are drive by wire so even in manual focus they can be still noisy.
Having those extra manual features are really nice. It is a shame about the noise but still worth it in my opinion. 👌🏻
For the price they are asking for the WR, it should have had more silent AF motor.
IMO it is not worth the price. It is a nice little lens though, just over priced with an archaic noisy AF design.
It’s strange why the motors not silent isn’t it… but yeah it’s still a winner for me but totally get your point ☺️ thanks for sharing.
I had this lens on my XE4, I ended up selling if because the continuous AF was really terrible. I ended up missing a lot of shots, even on static subjects
Did you make sure that you had the latest firmware update installed?
Ah that’s a shame, but I get that! On my xt5 the autofocus is good, but definitely not the quickest of the Fuji line up. 😅
Nobody is gonna talk about the noise it makes ?? It's a great lens but incredibly noisy. It bothers me to much, I might sell it.
Edit : sold it :)
I talk about it in this video 😅 it doesn’t actually bother me too much. But yes it’s a total deal breaker for some. Thanks for sharing your experience 👍🏻
@@BenjahMedia I meant in the comments section. Sorry I wasn't clear about it ^^ I just subscribed:)
😆 👍🏻 and nice one, glad to have you here!!
It bothered me so much I did sell it.
