Growing up in Detroit and going to Piston games Lambeer was better than people outside of Detroit knew. He had a great outside shot ... even if it was on his tippy toes. He was a great position rebounder, set great picks, and the guy was tough! I was at a game when the Pistons played the NewYork Nets in the Palace at Auburn Hills. Darryl Dawkins was the center. I will never forget Dawkins wrestled a rebound from Lambeer and just about tore Lambeer’s head off. As Dawkins threw the ball to a teammate to start the fast break having almost decapitated Lambeer. Bill Lambeer just shrugged it off and proceeded down court. Then the next time down Dawkins gets the ball and wheels around and clips Lambeer in the head. Bill acted as if it didn’t even phase him. They can all say what they want about Lambeer but the guy had heart.
Back when Detroit was a running, high scoring team, it used to be off the chart watching Isiah go full speed up the court, wrap a pass around his back to Laimbeer, who would slam the ball through the rim with his left hand while he ran the court . Laimbeer was a better athlete than folks gave him credit for.
When I started playing basketball, at the age of 12 or 13, I was my favorite player. I imitated him a lot...., and that was 1 m 70cm......... The truth is that I was a bit dirty playing............ pretty memories.
The OG stretch 5! Grabbed more boards in the 80s than literally everyone and that's a fact and was banged down 3s everywhere and set the nba finals record.
There are 6 LEAGUE championship banners hanging up inside LCA. Of those 6 banners, BILL LAIMBEER is responsible for 5 of them. 1-1989 NBA champion. 2-1990 NBA champion. 3-2003 WNBA champion. 4-2006 WNBA champion. 5-2007 WNBA champion. Now with THESE accomplishments, why is Becky Hammond and Tracy McGrady in the BASKETBALL HOF and Laimbeer is not? Final Four (1978), only one in Notre Dame history. NBA rebounding leader (1986). 3 time WNBA coach of the year. 4 time NBA All Star. 4 WNBA Finals appearance 3 time WNBA best record . One of the best FT and perimeter shooting big men of all time. Bill Walton won a combined 4 NCAA and NBA titles . Laimbeer won 5. Why is Chris NO TITLES Mullins in the HOF over this man?
I didn’t know much about Lambier besides his fights. Even with this video, they show a few points scored and then proceed with his fights the rest of the way. Your posting definitely gives a more rounded narrative. Definitely makes a strong case for Lambeir for HOF.
@@madocokaikoi3464 Bill Laimbeer used to grab the rebound, throw a outlet pass to Isiah, race down court, take the pass from Isiah Thomas and dunk it with his left hand on MFers . This guy was Jokic without the stats.
Home grown Detroiter through and through... Bill was that dude. You had to guard him on the perimeter because he could shoot. You foul him he's a high percentage free throw shooter. I think his vertical was about 2 more inches than Aryvidas Sabonis' but he played the position game... and he wasn't scared to "play ball".
If you watched this video closely, you saw him taking charges, playing team defense, blocking shots, hitting jumpers and being a baller . Anyone saying otherwise are foolish.
One omission from this video, the phantom foul against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in game six of the '88 finals. That kept Adrian Dantley from a ring and also there's a good chance they would have gotten the three peat. These bad boy teams are severely underrated
I grew up watching those 80's Pistons, and of course they were my team. The impressive offensive quality of that team is frequently overshadowed by too many people because of his toughness in defense. Pretty unfair. And the same goes for Bill. He was an excellent rebounder, blocker, long distance shooter, counter attack runner and tactic player. Nobody plays 3 NBA finals, (close to 4 in 1987) and wins two Championships just by hitting rivals..this is very easy to understand. The Pistons ended up with Lakers' and Celtics' kingdoms when Magic and Bird were still on top and put Jordan and Bulls in line for many years. They were unarguably the best NBA team in the late 80's, and Laimbeer also had something to do with it.
Wake me up when any of the Becky Hammon apologists can convince me why she’s more “deserving” of an NBA HC job than than this guy. If we’re comparing/talking COACHING resumes, that is.
From Wiki: "Laimbeer became the 19th player in league history to amass more than 10,000 points and 10,000 rebounds. Laimbeer was most effective off the defensive glass - from 1982 to 1990 no player in the league totaled more defensive rebounds."
Laimbeer's career highlights in 3 min 6 sec? I'm guessing if some of these clips weren't slow motion, it would amount to 1 min and 33 sec? Which is still too much time. What a bush-leaguer and POS. Which 7-11 is Bill working at now?
Bill was filthy Rich before he even touched a basketball you scrub. He was an Enforcer that played D and ripped down Boards and Won 2 Chips, he would end these soft players in the NBA.
@@Desttro73 Stop being a Dork Darth. Laimbeer was a goon and a hack. Nothing more. It's what one becomes when they've nothing else to offer. Might this be you?
He scores 11 points and then fights the whole league.greatest highlight ever made
Hope this is sarcasm
The guy sucked

Bill could definitely play well in today's game too. Yeah, he had the outside shot and with 3 range with it.
He had a great jump shot and would mix it up with anyone
Laimbeer should be a hall of famer
Tough SOB, i met him in 1991 in the Pistons aircraft with Joe Dumars, Scott Hastings and John Salley. Bad boys forever.

Great baseball player when he was younger
Pretty smooth shot!
"Nothing but net!"
Half the highlights are him shooting jumpers. The rest is him fighting dudes. Legend
Wow he can hit wide open jumpers and play dirty. Yeah total greatness there. Laimbeer sucked and was P.O.S.
@@zr8693 cry abt it
Lame-beer fought no one. He instigated and they fought him. Never saw him throw a punch, let alone connect.

If not for Bill Laimbeer, we wouldn't have Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball (SNES).

Set shot on the right foot, no left touching the ground?? What a strange jumper.
Is this basically 3 minutes of him playing dirty?
Lambeer was fundamentally sound
Just imagine what the DETROIT Lions could have been if we had some nasty ass Bill LaimbeerS on that roster.
