Regarding to the 3 baskets of bread that the guy purchased. I think its due to the brand of the bread called "Gardenia". According to my friends in Sarawak, its hard to find the Gardenia brand in Malaysian Borneo, so usually when Sabahans or Sarawakians comes to peninsular Malaysia, they will purchase a lot of gardenia bread back to Sabah / Sarawak. If I'm not mistaken, the reason for the lack of gardenia brand in Sarawak is because they have other bread brand that the Sarawak state specifically produced. Might need my Sarawakian or Sabahan friends to confirm this tho.
We have it here but it's more expensive and stale. But that was years ago. Nowadays we have more options and the breads are fresher so most Sabahan doesn't buy in bulk in peninsula anymore
Do visit Sepilok orang Utan sanctuary in Sandakan. If you are there and bump into Ms Jessica, send my regards to her, my uni mate back in UK many years ago
Don't worry when Malaysia gives back Sabah to the Philippines you can go there anytime you want. Malaysia has already breached their leasing contract of Sabah (Land of Sultanate of Sulu Philippines). So as a landowner and Malaysia as Tenants who did not pay since 2013. We all have the right to take it back
I'm curious myself, he could be buying those for his own lockdown, or he was buying for d whole village, back from where he came from, d bakeries don't make their way to his village, I think that makes more sense, hehehe. It could also be that he wanted to donate some of those buns to his neighbors or d poor n needy.
There r quite a few unpleasant stories between Sabah n d Philippines. About a decade ago, there were attacks from terrorists from d Southern Philippines on few parts of coastal Sabah, there were kidnapping incidents n demands for ransom, also by terrorists from d Southern Philippines, n lately there was a claim on two Petronas assets from d descendents of Sulu, previously from Sabah, now in Southern Philippines, really bizarre. And there r already few claims on from d govt of Philippines, claiming Sabah is part of their territory.

That uncle bought a lot of Gardenia brand buns because you can't get Gardenia buns or bread in Sabah or Sarawak. It is not economical for the bread supplier to transport all kind of bread variety to East Malaysia. As bread have a short expiry date, many bread varieties never reach Sabah. Indonesian normally bring back Milo, Sabahan will go for bread.
The gardenia bread and buns brand in east Malaysia don’t taste the same as those in the Peninsular Malaysia. Different manufacturers. Those from the Peninsular have wider variety and does taste slightly better. Which is why many travelers to east Malaysia buy them back.
@@sunkissedbucketlist Milo in Malaysia also taste different with Milo in Indonesia. So when Indonesian people come to Malaysia they will buy more to bring back home.
Mostly they from Borneo - Sarawak or Sabah. Those bread hardly found here with many type flavor. So, most of us will buy as many as we can carry. Usually it's maybe mostly ppl of sabah bought that so much as souvenirs for relatives because it is delicious and not much found in sabah.. It's impossible for his own the bun has expiry date. You can keep it just about 1 or 2 weeks.. I like anchovies
