I've visited major cities across Southeast Asia, and in my opinion, Kuala Lumpur is less busy than Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh, more cleaner than Jakarta and Manila, and more affordable than Singapore.
Malaysia is the hidden gem in SouthEast Asia. Most tourist know only Bali, Thailand and Singapore. But Malaysia just unique in their own. Great Malaysian hospitality, great food and safe!
Hopefully it stays a hidden gem. Which reminds me of some French tourists I met whilst staycationing in lovely Thailand (Ko Phangan) many years back - they told me that they "had" to go to Malaysia for visa run (yeap that's right Malaysia is usually nothing more than a visa run destination for those traveling other infamous parts of South East Asia), they decided to go to Pulau Perhentian and was blown away by the beauty and Malaysia in general, so much so their next vacation they planned to spend a month there. I've been in interesting debates with Americans in Phuket who were backing Char Kuey Teow anyday over Pad Thai (I'm team Pad Thai). The best parts of Malaysia is outside of KL tho' - KL has massive room to make it into one of thee top cities in the world but its not been developed that way - we have the Klang and Gombak riversides which are severely underused. KL needs to be made 100 % walker friendly also. Maybe it's not such a bad idea for us to learn a trick or two from our southern neighbour across the causeway.
1. Malaysia is broadly divided into two main groups: (i) Bumiputera (indigenous groups) which include Malays, Iban, Kadazan, Murut, Melanau, Kayan, Kelabit, Penan, Bajau, Sakai, and others; and (ii) Non-Bumiputera such as Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Serani, etc. 2. Like most major cities in Malaysia, there are 24-hour eateries. Among them, the most popular are Mamak (Muslim Indian) restaurants, which are often the only places open around the clock. 3. Some tourists might claim that Kuala Lumpur (KL) a bit boring (often because their idea of excitement revolves around nightlife, easy access to alcohol, drugs (like marijuana), and the sex industry-things Thailand is famous for). In contrast, Malaysia is more of a foodie’s paradise, with a slower pace and a focus on family-friendly activities. Cities like KL reflect this cultural aspect. But there is less smogs and traffic compared to Bangkok & Jakarta. 4. Cities like KL have a significant number of foreign workers from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Nepal, who are mostly employed in the service industry, construction, and factories.
So sweet of both of you enjoying KL...but Malaysia is not just about KL, there are many more interesting & beautiful places you can enjoy outside KL..beaches, mountains, forest..you name it and it is not far from KL because Malaysia is not a big country but have lots of wonderfull things to explore!
Hainan chicken rice is NOT a Singaporean dish. It's a dish from Hainan in China. It's cooked in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. But I believe the best tasting ones are in Ipoh in Malaysia and Bangkok in Thailand.
Actually hainan chicken rice is from ipoh, even tho it have hainan in it, its like u.s.a fried rice, it wasn't made from u.s.a or nasi goreng pattaya. As i said, thats what i heard, no idea if its true or false.
Accurate observation. No where can beat Ipoh Chicken Rice taugeh (bean sprouts). The best Hainanese Chicken Rice title in South East Asia, and possibly the world is held by my mother who is Malaysian Indian. Sadly, she doesn't make it anymore. That's the beauty of Malaysia (and I guess the same applies to our southern neighbour Singapore) - the best chicken curry I've tasted in my life was made by a Malaysian Chinese chef.
Glad to see you guys are enjoying Kuala Lumpur, do try and explore outside of Kuala Lumpur because that's where the magic happens and you'll find parts of truly Malaysians
Yeah..everyone sees and I'm also happy to hear you all say it's positive vibe in here, especially Kuala Lumpur..T.Q for stopping by my smallest country🇲🇾..have a nice day🤪✌
Nice vlog, out of sincere intentions and goodwill, if both of you plan to travel to India, please don't. Or at least do thorough research before doing so, for 2 young girls - not safe at all.
South India is a little bit safer. North India especially New Delhi is not safe. Imagine having to get your bag scanned and body checked each time you enter buildings or certain areas. My male Indian friends in India don't go everywhere or walk out at night. So, why would you do that? They don't trust their own police, why should you? Otherwise it is a beautiful country. The people are generally nice. But its too scary to risk it.
Glad to see you enjoy and smile in KL...yes Malaysia is famous for its slogan "Malaysia Truly Asia". For sure after you gone to the other Asian countries you will realize something different about Malaysia....

6:39 in case you dont know, the egg waffle was originated from Hong Kong, but Malays here just like to combine other country food with their favourite food like chocolate, peanut, cheese. The sweetness level was almost like getting diabetes in 1 day. Chinese here don't really eat this kind of weird dessert in Malaysia.12:58 this Suria KLCC is actually over 20 year old, it is consider one of the Oldest Mall, local people in Kuala Lumpur don't really come here, this mall is mostly visited by people or foreigners who first visit Malaysia only. Most Malaysian visit Pavilion, TRX Mall, Mid Valley Megamall , The Garden Mall and 1 Utama Shopping centre.I lived in Malaysia for 29 years, My family , friends and i only visited Suria KLCC once-twice, but other malls more than 20 times.🤣🤣🤣Its really interesting to watch how foreigners see Malaysia for the first time. Tourists always visit tourist spots, most of the spots you went, especially the night markets! i've never been there. Foods are not authentic or even local. 18(3.8USD) for that chicken rice is the most expensive chicken rice i ever seen in Malaysia, because other places are selling 7-8 ringgit at the hawker centre and 10-13 in the shopping malls only.
I have loved here for 3yrs and 3 ither Asian countries for work and Malaysia is my favorite. You can walk underground to the Auquarium and then take an overpass and walk to Pavillion which is close to the Holiday Inn. Checkout Berjaya Times Square and ride the roller coaster and TRX is a unique mall inside and out all in walking distance.
Welcome to Malaysia Jill and Hannah and glad to see both of you enjoying KL and having fun together and don't forget to visit East Malaysia, Especially Sarawak. The lack of horns with all that traffic is so surreal! (didn't hear sirens either). Yeah those Petronas Towers are majestic. They look so lovely at night all lit up. Jill you are NOT a baby when it comes to spice..I can barely handle anything with a kick.lol I smiled when you were skipping along...reminds me of Kara. Hannah you're a pro with those chopsticks! Welcome to Malaysia! I've been to Knoxville, Tenessee in the early 2000s as I love country music. I met a friendly local businessman there where he paid for my taxi fare to the motel. The cost of the motel was US$28 per day. It was my most expensive accommodation in the US. My cheapest accommodation in the US was US$8 per day in a hostel in a youth hostel in Las Vegas. If you like nature, go to Taman Negara, Forests Research Institute, Cameron Highland and Fraser Hill. If you like beaches, go to Langkawi, Redang Island, Pangkor Island and Port Dickson. BTW, go to the longest straight foods in Connaught Night Market. It's only open on every Wednesday from 6.00pm onwards. Go with an empty stomach. Penang is a place with good foods. Malacca is a historical place. You must try Nasi Lemak and Satay in Malaysia. For your breakfast, go to ICC Pudu where you get to eat Chinese foods.
