    Before you strike it with the Galv spray, give it a good blast with Brake Cleaner (spray) it will strip all the cutting compound and factory grease right off, helping the Galv spray to make really good adhesion, because your brief wipe with a dirty rag isnt doing anything but remove the heavy deposit.

    Great test piece for an apprentice that reinforces dimensional tolerance, cutting & threading, bending to correct angles, perfect.

    Pretty crazy, we would fail inspection with running threads which is why the USA makes two piece threaded couplings, any modifications as far as spray paint on threads would go against any code violations. Good concept but just can’t do that in the states.

    Very nice, but on this side of the pond running threads are not allowed.☹

    The American National Electric Code (NEC) prohibits the use of running threads to do what you’ve done here. Instead we use a 3 piece coupling.

    Have you ever tried to bend a full lenght of conduit in to the shape of a sledge and join both ends with a running coupling?

    I was doing running couplers and nipples back in the 90s on mainly RAF bases as an apprentice sometimes with a conduit bender that had been repair welded.
    Wouldn't it be better to just buy the nipples if they are still sold? it would save deburring and time threading?

    I might be being daft, but in what circumstance would you need to bend conduit into a closed loop like this

    • @efixx
      @efixx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Demo only for this - usually joining two fixed points

      Cheaper than an "Ericsson" US term for rigid conduit coupling.

    The only thing worse than having to do a 20mm runner is having to do a 25mm runner.

    But Only after you’ve ruined your shoulders threading&bending 25mm tube for too many years,hate the sight of any metal conduit or trunking now 😢

    Running threads at couplings for electrical conduit are a code violation in the United States. NEC article 344.42(B).

      Iv just trained to be a electrician and iv done gas for 8 years previously. This is the one thing that I don’t understand about conduit it’s so crap when you do this. A union is so much better and is a much better connection especially is your earthing it
