Thin rubber matting glued into the former prevents scuffing. If you scuff it like that, you’ve created a weakness in the steel anyway so, should really be cutting a new piece… Thoroughly clean the oil off the thread with a degreaser. Dry thoroughly & spray Rocol Galva Flash on the threads. It has a zinc resin compound base that really lasts. Once dried & cleaned off, use white lithium spray on the threads just before screwing on/up to stop it from seizing & stopping the ingress of contaminants.
When I was in college 27 years ago, we used conduit that came already painted in black; it was a nice smooth glossy finish as if it were enamel coated.
Haha the black enamel conduit only to be used indoors and would definitely rust once water or moisture came into contact with where the paint was no coated. Hey them were the days you used to have to have 110v leads and drills to carry around or manually mangle your hole physically..... Jobs them days lasted months if not years as today just weeks 😏
Knowing how meticulous you are; I'm surprised you didn't recommend first spraying the threads with acetone - to remove the cutting compound (which I assume would prevent good adhesion of the galvanising spray) 😀
This series has been brilliant. I'd love to see how Gary did the 180 degree bend right around the former when he made those lights - that bit was conveniently off camera !! Did he have someone standing on the machine legs, or is there another trick to it?
Maybe you guys should take a look at Conlok fittings, no need to thread. Using them in a fit out of a new hospital at the moment saves a lot of time and effort.
Shit in - Shit out. That's how the system works. Maybe if we based society on something other than shitting on everyone and everything, then we could all have such decency. All our conduit threads should be zinc'd, not just the conduit threads of men like Bezos, Musk, and Gates.

bit of emery cloth , wipe with acetone, then spray the conduit. shouldn't use a flat file, theyr'e for filing flat things lol...
Last time I used metal conduit was in a lift well when I did my apprenticeship 40 years ago. Plastic conduit all the way in NZ.
if you were doing a lot of thread cutting you could look at something like a REMS thread cutting machine called Amigo. Would save time and money
Galv channel, should be deburred, then galv sprayed. Super important in outside or water plant work.
Neat.

conlok video series coming soon
I think only ppl doing DIY will or may spray afterwards, cowboys or average electrician won’t give a shxt even if it’s damaged 😂😂
