He is a 19 year old soldier in our US Army. He is also a blacksmith and a classically trained singer (opera) who gave up his scholarships to serve his country before his college. He loves crafting...everything from jewelry making to furniture making and running the wood lathe...a true artist like yourself. Tinkercad is such a powerful tool for getting started with the design. It'll take you really far and when you can't go any further there's fusion360 sitting there just waiting for you with a smile on it's face.

I’ve got something I’ve been wanting to make a proper mold of and always thought 3D printing it would be the perfect way, because the mold won’t flex. Good job.
Excellent job in this video, CrafsMan -- so many tips for what works and what doesn't, but the thing I was most taken with was the PERSISTENCE you showed here. Even though it took many tries, you kept making adjustments until it came out well. And in showing that pile of casts that didn't quite come up to spec, you showed everyone that you gotta stick to it with the confidence that you'll get there.
Yeah, they're great, they would be really popular if they were in stores, especially with kids playing Among Us cause they sorta remind you of the game, but they look more cute.

I like the look of this A-mod character idea with interchangeable face, etc. I would want it to come with the matching magnifying lens piece and a couple of example faces - most importantly the anime eye ball. Finally Finally Finally!!! I've been saying this for so long... get you some tin cure silicone Crafsman! Finally you did it! It is by far the best way to get a mold of a resin 3-d print while maintaining the details. Then you can make a tough master mold out of platinum cure. I'm glad you finally tried it.

I am just getting into 3D printing. I was looking for molding ideas to create molds for an elastomer part. You gave me not only some cool tips and ideas but I find your videos so much fun to watch and listen to that I subscribed! My new Qidi X Plus is on it's way. While I will primarily create parts for engineering and manufacturing I now look forward to maybe creating something fun while I practice! Thank you CrafsMan!

One reason why parts of the mold also pulled out when you injection molded straight into it is because you have no draft angles on your model. With drafts you'll get much better results, but the mold is still not likely to hold up to all too many pulls either way. [edit] of course you mentioned that already 😄
Here is something that both you (Switch & Lever) and TheCrafsMan might want to look into Microwaveable soft plastics that are usually used for bait making. I know it's still pretty expensive however TheCrafsMan might already have many of the things needed for this. Also I think he could just use a standard high temp silicon mold and just pour it in using a glass measuring cup straight out of the microwave. This is a youtube called Marling Baits that tends to use a lot of similar techniques to carve baits. It seems like you all have your own little tricks and secrets that have built up over the years that are specific to what you are trying to do however you might be able to solve each others problems. @@mplumer88 yeah but he has a plastic injection press and that is a more expensive thing as he can find a microwave on the side of the road or use a gas burner instead.
Those little peg areas that pulled out might have held up better with draft angles, but I wonder how small an angle we can get away with and still have the hoses attach firmly. If it comes out of the mold easier, I reckon the hose would pull away easier too. I might coulda went on the low end with a little 3-degree angle. That may have been a good compromise. Learning a little more every day. :)

@@mplumer88 yeah but he has a plastic injection press and that is a more expensive thing as he can find a microwave on the side of the road or use a gas burner instead.

Those little peg areas that pulled out might have held up better with draft angles, but I wonder how small an angle we can get away with and still have the hoses attach firmly. If it comes out of the mold easier, I reckon the hose would pull away easier too. I might coulda went on the low end with a little 3-degree angle. That may have been a good compromise.
