They start calling him "shill", "fence sitter", "transphobic", or whatever else they can think of because they didn't even bother to watch the vid because they know that "it's just repeating what everyone says" and is irrelevant.
In an age where people love Baldur's Gate 3 for giving an experience to us, that the original Dragon Age once gave us, it is sad to see the state of Bioware now. From a industry leader to... whatever this is
@@Marckillius And that's why slop like this will continue to flood the market. Y'all gave BG3 a pass, when it's plagued with similar things so other companies/studios will see its success and think they can do the same. Get used to seeing more Veilgaurds.
Actually that is largely true with the larger software houses, although hate is a strong word but they have been using companies to consult with that are politically motivated shall we say.
Towards the end of Joes video there’s such a funny part. The game spends so much time affirming Taash’s pronouns, and her transition to they/them. There’s even a long side quest to make sure people start calling her they/them. But at the end when/if she dies they call her a she 😂 It proves how performative the whole thing was. It’s like they forgot. The person who calls her a she is the person who did pushups! Hahaha. So in her memory, to show her respect, after her death they “dead name” her and pull a Barve 😂
I didn't play much of the game so i am wondering what happens if you don't do the quest to encourage her mental illness. Do they have two separate voice lines? Maybe the "she" at the end of the game was from a playthrough that rightfully ignored her teenage "i wanna be special" phase. Or does tash embrace her insanity regardless of player choice?
The problem is BioWare games have always been inclusive, there are always the hetero companions and the lgbt companions, the difference is the older games never shove it into your face. DA:Inquisition had a companion whose gayness is the reason why he had a strained relationship with his father and that one was written so much better than Taash.
Before Dragon Age: EA if you close Bioware i swear to god... After Dragon Age: EA please close Bioware before they attempt to launch another Mass Effect, PLEASE! You know you want to.

Angry Joe is basically a diehard dragon age fan and his review is probably what 90% of hardcore fans feel. Game is a 'okay' $10 sale casual game with a dialogue skipping mod.
Guarantee nexus mods bans all mods that actually improve the game because they're on board the agenda of forced dei, and ban everything like fixing the flags in Spider-Man. You'd have to find the mod somewhere else, and it WON'T be indexed in search engines, nor will modders care as much as fixing starfield. No, the only appropriate response is to NEVER buy the game even on sale. You're better off playing some fan made expansion in a different engine. If fans even still exist. This is exactly like how they ruined star wars. Modern content doesn't exist to the fans. You have to stop buying it, because it just funds more of it, and if they go under that's the price, and maybe a new studio will take over.
As a fan of Dragon age any higher than a 3/10 is bs, waited ten years for a new Dragon age and it's terrible in every conceivable way, gameplay, story, art, and dear god gender nonsense in a dark fantasy setting especially since it's focused on the one race where it makes the least amount of sense, also you can't really role play in anyway other than meak good pc boy. Dragon age was loved and then this game comes out and most likely killed the entire franchise so again a 3/10 is being nice, Dragon age was better when this game Didn't exist.
The combat became bearable when I started realizing how OP shield throwing is It's so crazy strong that you really never have to use your sword ever again which is stupid in its own right
He was absolutely gold in this review. I pretty much agree with him on the majority of it as well. Never seen so much retconning in a single game before. It's like half of inquisition didn't happen, the DLC's were completely ignored.
I think it's fair to take off extra points for destroying something that you loved. Like "Rings of Power" is 1/10. But if it wasn't based on "Lord of the Rings," it'd be a solid 3.
For Joe 5 is an average game, this is below that. Also Joe is rating the story with it, while Asmon said he skipped a lot of the story. I think you're right, don't use the name if you can't live up to it, but I don't know how much of a factor it played here. This game is below average or bad, so 3 or 4.
Even if it wasn't a series you loved I still think a 3 is deserved. A 6 should be a neutral game that you had some moderate amount of fun playing. It's a game that actively ruins your time and that deserves a 3.
@@Pltr03How isnt 6 a neutral? 5-7 is neutral/meh 8 is good 9 is near perfect and everything under is just the opposite, from meh to gradual increase of pain
@@Pltr03 Because 5 is average when you're grading on a scale of 1 to 10. 6 out of 10 is above average. This is how Joe has graded games for over a decade. It's also a much more logically coherent system than treating 7's as average like IGN or the education system does. Granted, the education system wants you to get the large majority of questions consistently correct, but IGN and game reviews don't get that excuse. 😅
Dude if you were an actual dragon age fan you would have checked out after origins, the only game worth anything in this series. 2 was a piece of shit because EA wanted to turn it into fantasy mass effect and make it a hack n slash with copy and pasted dungeons but thankfully that failed but the game was still dark fantasy and had decent ideas that could have been fixed with a sequel. Inquisition is even worse than 2 and all the DEI bullshit we see in veilguard has roots on full display in inquisition, Krem another trans character from inquisition is also annoying and forced (long story short Krem is a tomboy who wants to be a man but when asked if she would be given magic that would let her change completely she says no I don't want that magic anywhere near me, you aren't fucking trans then Krem you are a tomboy period) but it was but a mere sample of what we got with trash (in calling her that because she is trash) in veilguard.
@@delta2372Inquisition was fine from this perspective, and a good game IMO. They didn’t make sacrifices to make way for inclusion... If you have to reference a character as minor & obscure as Krem to rant about, you may be a bit lost in the anti-woke sauce
Thats why he's not a reviewer. You heard what he said, he doesn't care about the lore, the story, the old games, means continuity of the franchise. Of course his score is whack and makes no sense. By his measure, why even make another game in any franchise.
@@daktaklakpak5059 he went in there like 85% of potential players for the game would have started playing. Do you honestly think that the target audience for this game was people who are into dragon age, having played previous titles? The percentage of people who've played them, or were willing to invest time into the dragon age series thanks to the game's announcement is def a small amount compared to the new blood they could have reached. So why take it into account as a new player, if even the devs dont care?
Veilguard is worse than all its predecessors. The 3/10 score is more than far for the amount of damage Veilguard did to the Dragonage series as a whole, we literally waited 10 years for this, and it couldn't even improve on anything. I feel like Bioware stole my money and ran.
Development wise, it *was" going to be Fortnight, but Dragon Age before they scraped the project and started over... while reusing as many assets as possible... and without pretty much all of the key writers... headed by a sims designer... It sounds too absurd to be true, doesn't it?
They told you that when they tried to hide reviews and handpicked reviewers. They knew you wouldn't like it and wanted your money. I'm stunned people still decided to buy it. 10:33 you're just ignoring an aspect of the review process then. You can't just rate a direct sequel and continuation of an "anthology" of games on its very own merits. It has to be based on what it does when continuing the story as well...
Agreed. as a stand alone game or a extremely casual player of the previous games it is a 5 or 6 out of 10 but as the 4th sequel of the whole deep lore franchise its a 3.. or even a 2 out of 10.

@@lmno567 coming from someone who likes VG, it’s not a very fun fight. lol. Beforehand you fight two normal dragons at once, that fight is far more fun and engaging.

It's a lot less of a pain in the ass if you use your ranged attack, especially if you have shield bounces, as the shield will bounce between the heads and hit them multiple times for absurd amounts of damage. It's still a terrible fight, but you know, less terrible if you remember you have a ranged attack.
On later game content, the game was made for the Mage class. Once you get the epic Necro staff, you can constantly fire off abilities. That's because the epic necro staff powers your spells by life, not mana. BUT, you can leech life off kills (both with the staff and I *think* the skill tree). So, it's essentially unlimited ability casts, limited only by the cool down time; which between 3 is minimal. Bonus? Yes. You don't take damage while the spell casting animation is happening. I beat the final boss w/o a single health potion. X,B,A...X,B,A... over and over again - with one hand. Double Bonus? It's easy to get the epic necro staff. Just get the highest reputation with the vendor at the Necropolis and he will sell it to you.

If you're doing a 10 point scale where 10 is perfect and 0 is horrible. 6 would be above average, 5 is average, 3 sucks. If you can't say anything nice about it, its insane to say something is a 6 out of 10. That's some IGN level bs right there.
0 would be unplayable. The Veilguard is shit, but it has some kind of storyline, reasonably connected game mechanics and decent graphics. Veilguard isn't good, but it's above average. Because the majority of games in existence are worse. The other thing is that you shouldn't waste your time on average games. It's 100% a marketing tactic. I keep hearing people say things like, "How could a developer be dumb enough to go on an anti-gamer Twitter rant?" Obviously, they're not being dumb. They're doing it because -- at least for a while there -- it was an easy way to stir up outrage, to get the gaming press on their side and become a cause celebre on the left. Many modern games in general and this game in particular smash you over the head with lectures and sermons about as subtle as a sledgehammer-blow to the face. The politics aren't even the main issue, it's the way how poorly they are handled, how poorly they are portrayed and how patronizingly and condescendingly they are delivered. Veilguard also gives you barely a way to opt out of that shit. You might not have to make your character non-binary, but you can't choose not to take Taash as a companion and her entire shtick is thrown in your lap regularly, whether you want to or not. It also feels like your only options when that shit pops up is choosing between "Fervent support for Taash" and "Lukewarm support for Taash". Believe me, if there was an option "Tell Taash to shut the fuck up and stop bothering peopel with her petty, self-centered, self-indulgent bullshit", the game would have been received a whole lot better. The problem isn't the presence of politics in a game, it's the presence of poorly handled implementation of politics in a game, that talks down to the player. A lot of people enjoy vidya that makes them think or that shines a light on important topics, Deus Ex was popular for a reason... the problem is when untalented hacks make a game that is a vehicle to peddle an ideology first, a way to cash in on a title's brand-recognition second and a game third or forth down the list of priorities. This is what people mean by "woke" games being miserable. It has nothing to do with diversity or inclusion and everything to do with the forced presentation and condescending delivery.
@@RedMage117 Not allowing you to ditch any party member might have at least something to do with Bioware cutting costs. When you can replace or remove companions, the game has to allow you to branch out in certain narrative ways, so it does lead to more stuff that needs to be made to properly allow that to happen. Kinda like dungeons become more and mroe linear in Elder Scrolls games. You'd have crazy elaborate labyrinths in Morrowind, then some branches and loops in Oblivion and basically one long tunnel from A to B in Skyrim. The reason back then was publishers hated the idea that programmers would create a level that only a fraction of players would actually explore. It's inefficient from their point of view. Could be similar here, that not being able to swap out companions was at least partially founded on not wanting to waste dev-time on content only some parts of the playerbase would ever see... ...but then again: They force their agenda down your throat and the key character to do that is Taash. So not being able to remove her is most likely by choice to support "tHe MeSsAgE".

6:33 That right there is why having an actual team you can control, direct and build up is so much better and more fun to play with. And why the fights in the other DA games were so much more fun even when the enemies were tough as hell. Even if the enemies ARE damage sponges, you can't have the player feel like the enemies are all like that. If it feels like your abilities, spells and combos don't actually do anything, the gameplay suffers a lot. Especially when every single mob of enemies feels like that and not just the bosses.

Andromeda had issues, but the gameplay was fantastic, and it didn't retcon/explain 90 percent of the entire franchise's lore to be fundamentally worse by explaining everything with "this game's villain did it". I will never forget what they did to Mass Effect nor will I ever forgive them. Hell, for being so woke, getting an actual gay male romance option that isn't an afterthought and a nobody character is like pulling teeth. (Andromeda. Idk about Veilguard.) So they're not even doing woke well smh.
Andromeda was just a spin-off of the series. It doesn't touch the lore of the main line mass effect, so it doesn't really affect the previous game, unlike the vailguard that retroactively destroys previous lore.
To be fair to the Andromeda team: they only worked on ME3’s multiplayer before Andromeda and only had 18 months or so. Meanwhile Veilguard had damn near ten years. I can feel they at least attempted with Andromeda.
I enjoyed Andromeda for what it was and actually liked the cast. The easter egg if collected all Ryder's memories about the reapers and such is a nice touch too, but yeah, not even close to the original trilogy.
@randybobandy9828 The sales numbers are all over the place. I am hearing 1 mil in the first week and some j-off thinks it can pull 2 mil by now and 5 mil by the end of December.

@@frankieb9444 that¿s what it means to be a 5 (average) out of 10, not amazing but not specially bad, which is a reason why asmon giving it a 6 is so insulting
I honestly think that the developers who created Dragon Age are no longer there and the current ones hate or are ashamed of what it represents, so they released a bad game to bury the franchise and not have to work with it anymore, now why does they feel this way in relation to the game we can only imagine
As much fun as it is to dunk on this game, you guys don't know how much it hurts to be a Dragon Age fan. I've played ALL of them up to Veilguard. (Origins/Awakening>2>Inquisition>>>>>>>>>Veilguard.) I've read every book, every comic. I have the Seeker movie on DVD. I've waited 10 years to see Inquisition's story resolved, see Solas', Flemeth's, and the Architect's stories resolved. Instead, I watched this game flop out like Ace Ventura slipping out of a rhinoceros
The first one was not good at all when it came out. On a pure technical level - as in push button and action happens, Veilguard was better (it also had better performance and stability). I personally like the storytelling better in LotF than in Veilguard, but let's not ignore the good sides of games we don't like. To me Veilguard shows that BioWare has a lot of talented artists in their departments, except for their writers, who either was told to make a story "for all audiences" (the lowest common denominator) or actually wanted to tell the story we see. Constant repetition, the story being very much on the nose and in your face - bleh. Make a good story, leave subtle undertones there for the player to find and do sidequests about if they're interested (sure, try to tease the player into being interested). Not everything has to be Elden Ring levels of obscured storytelling, but you don't have to have people incessantly talking about "hint hint I have a loyalty mission you need to do now!" If they wanted to do a softer and more inclusive RPG-lite, why force it into the Dragon Age world?
The real problem with AAA games is that its not the same dev teams that made the originals. The original franchises had heart and soul to them. They werent without their flaws but they felt unique and interesting. Now most AAA games just feel kind of the same. Even Elden Ring has that modern day AAA vibe, but FromSoft still stuck to the heart of what made their games unique.
I think the hate on andromeda is abit too much. Yeah it's not as great as ones before but it did make some fun changes like the dialogue wheel and combat. Plenty of the characters written well. Removing paragon and renegade is something they shouldn't of done.
@@Pers0n97 nope I enjoyed it when I first played it. It was alright. I'm not coping. I just have a different opinion. And if you think I like veilguard, well I wouldn't even touch it if it was free.

Towards the end of Joes video there’s such a funny part. The game spends so much time affirming Taash’s pronouns, and her transition to they/them.

For Joe 5 is an average game, this is below that. Also Joe is rating the story with it, while Asmon said he skipped a lot of the story.

Regular gamers, meanwhile, didn't care, so it was a net win. But now regular gamers are starting to care, so the hack isn't working as well, and they'll move on to something else.

Highly doubt it, but just maybe seeing his favorite game franchise butchered beyond recognition by HIS agenda might slap enough sense back into him to realize that this is exactly what he claimed to have wanted for years...but never truly did.
Where?
I’ll never forget that Angry Joe was pretty much in full support of Anita Sarkeesian back in 2013-14, Joe lambasted gamers and told everyone that ‘they’ will never take away hot and cool characters and power fantasies.
While I’m glad Joe is now giving trash the ratings they deserve (Star Wars included) I have little respect for his takes as a whole.
7:27 a 6/10? I want whatever Asmon's smoking 🚬
To be fair, Asmon , to my knowledge, hasn't really played the other games. If he was a long time fan like Joe he would have 100% been harsher on it.

I think asmon skipped a lot of the story and dialogue and just rated it on gameplay.
I'd give it a 8/10 , I find it hilarious how these right wing toxic gamers keep having to make excuses to hate this game " GUYS! I KNOW THE COMBAT LOOKS SUPER COOL AND THE VISUALS ARE STUNNING , BUT ITS SO BAD YALL. LIKE IVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 8 HOURS STRAIGHT AND ITS SO BAD. SOOO BAD YALL. "

I'm happy reviews of actual fans are coming out now, and they are positive. This is a great game of youre a fan of dragon age story.
all classes feel like a combo point generator and it's very dull/boring, rogues get stamina, warriors get rage and mages get mana, but the resource mechanic works exactly the same for all classes, auto attack, generate resource. It's especially bad with mage since when they block, it consumes your mana, so if you block instead of dodging, you will never be able to cast any spell that requires mana.
Imagine if back when they made Skyrim, in the middle of a feast at Windhelm one of the characters stands up at the table. "UHHH... IS THIS ALE VEGAN? I CAN'T PROCESS SOME TYPES OF HOPS VERY WELL AND I GET TUMMY ACHES". Then, after people really don't like that, Bethesda writers act shocked like they can't figure out why people are saying it's immersion breaking.
It's just bad, and it was made to be a political soapbox rather than a good RPG. The fact Joe gave it a 3/10 blows any argument of "grifting" out of the water.
an NPC to top Nazeem in amount of times players "auto-save."
people don't need "grifters" to know that aggressive wokeness in the game is terrible.
Bad analogy unfortunately, since lorewise TES brand of Wood Elves are religiously forbidden from consuming any plant matter - even wearing cloth derived from processed plant fibres is haraam in their culture.
They famously get high by smoking ground-up venomous insects in pipes made from hollowed-out bones.
Crying "grifter" is the same as all the -ists and -phobes the left uses. They all mean the same thing - "I can't argue or deny your point so I'm just going to smear you"
Sheezus now I'm imagining a Modern audience Skyrim. I mean right off the back... Choice to Join the Empire or the Storm cloaks, GONE. Can't have the player deciding to back Colonialism. A word that will come out of Ulfric Storm Cloaks mouth allot. " I fight for a free Skyrim. Free from the corrupt capitalist empire. Free from elven Colonialism, I fight agents an Empire that forces us to create places like the Grey quarter and oppress the dark elves."
The Khajiits are now able to go into the Cities and get along with the Argonian's and Dunmer. Who are now super sorry for enslaving them.
Yah might hear from a Dunmer. "We can't be racist, We lack the power and Privilege in these lands. If you want to see a racist elf, look to the High Elve Colonialist."
Then have an Altmer say something like. "We don't hate human's, we just want to make Altmora Great again.
Oh and the Dragon Born is constantly side lined by Lydia now (who you have no choice but to bring with you everywhere). When she isn't telling you how to solve all the easy puzzles, THEY are Constantly going on about how There Nonbinary now because woman can't be fighters. Least until Dawn Guard where Lydia is replaced by Serana, who is now a Massive Girl Boss that does everything wile you watch.
For instance, She telepathically tells you how to solve the puzzle to release her, defeats all the vampires there, gets you out of Volkahar Castle. Later it is she who saves the Moth Priest and she is the one who reads the Elder scroll. She is the one who opens the gate into the Soul Carn and defeats Durnehviir to releases her mother. Lastly she is the one to receive Aureals Bow and uses it to kill Harkon.
Wait did you think you would get an option to Join the Vampires? Nope! Because Harkon is a White male and Isran is quick to say that.
"Harkon is a white Nord (have the specify that because there now nonwhite Nord's too... yet no white, Red Guards)) who is crazy. He wants to get the Bow of Aureal so he can shoot the sun and make the light go away. Oh and I know Serana is a vampire too but who am I to judge a victim of Assault. In my book that makes Harkon the only villain here. Doesnt help the fact that Harkon also supports the Colonialist Empire and the High Elves."
To put the pin on the top. You still can't Merry Serana because she's already engaged to an obvious Self Insert character of one of the female writers.
Asmongold going deep defending his 6/10 rating haha. No way it's 6.
I can’t believe asmon giving this game 6/10 😂
It's a 6 cause he ignores huge parts of the game that make it much worse.
It's because he has no attention to any details, his only focus is combat lmao.
Yeah and he says Outlaws is worse when the game has similar strengths and weaknesses... Not to mention he played this for 71 hours... meanwhile he dropped Stellar Blade.
His ratings of games are super off in both directions. I watch him for entertainment and to see the drama in gaming. Expecting to get an accurate assessment of game from him is a fools errand. The sad thing is other video game youtubers are also pretty bad at that. At least we can always see the first 5-10 hours of a game and decide whether it's worth purchasing.
@@GigglingStoners He says he only cares about the combat, but the combat is mediocre at best, how can you say a game is 6/10 (above avarge) when it only has 1 half decent element & everything else is crap?
First, they DID reboot the entire DA lore. Every country that you played in until VG is destroyed, taken over by the blight. They're gone, nothing you did there matters anymore. As for Mass Effect, it's already destroyed. The ending of 3? Andromeda? The same execs who greenlit those choices are STILL at Bioware.

Soo... It sounds to me like they just wanted to make their OWN Sci-fi and Fantasy games but didn't think their own writing was going to sell copies. So they just piggybacked off of successful franchises, and ended up ruining them.
Tale as old as time that I'm getting really GD sick of hearing.

for real, in one breath "the game sucks" and in another literally saying it's above average, since 5 is average so by calling it a 6 you're saying it's above average, wild.
I can see the argument that good graphics and a functional combat system, alongside atrocious writing and the grape of everything the franchise stood for results in a 6/10.
I strongly disagree with it, but I can see how somebody with zero investment in the franchise comes to that conclusion.
In my opinion he doesn't have good taste in games he kind of average dodge/roll/sneak attack enjoyer. That formula to me is brainrot but I understand some people are straight addicted to that kind of thing like crack I have many friends who are into nothing but Souls type games.
6/10 is fair, it's mediocre, nobody gets excited for a 6/10. It's not like the game was buggy mess like Cyberpunk at launch, so it literally functions correctly as a game, also has nice visuals. Mass Effect Andromeda was not bad. It was its own thing. Sort of like an adventure story pioneering and exploring new regions of space. It wasn't meant to be a continuation of the "main" Mass Effect story. It's basically a side story.

@@jaslikeswaterDefinitely not going to a video game to be lectured about real life 2024 gender politics.
@@jaslikeswater No one goes for games for educational purposes and that's exactly the problem.
I, like many, don't like the idea of paying money for a game that then tells me "Agree to this agenda or be labeled a fascist." Especially when the game's no fun.
@@h.a.9880 Exactly right. In the past DA games, you could get rid of party members you didn't like. But they no longer allow that in this game....for SOME strange reason. We all know why and the fact that they had to do that shows how much they wanted to cram their agenda down our throats. Its a game meant to be enjoyed...but this is not enjoyable.
Good lighting, music and hair physics...

You're right, absolutely right. Mass Effect Andromeda's story was real weak. However, the combat in that game was some of the best I had ever played. Definitely in a Mass Effect game, and was truly the part they improved the most.
asmongold thats like saying FF XVI is still like an 8/10 because it makes a good devil may cry game. The design, the adult writing, the romances, the core gameplay mechanics, the world building, exploration, and even the realism and protrayal of the universe. Basically regressed into some satirical woke kids comic book and sorry to say but THAT is not the Dragon age that bioware is known for.

To be fair, it was more of a spin-off than a true sequel.

Lords of the Fallen shits all over Veilguard, are you even serious right now?
Not everything has to be Elden Ring levels of obscured storytelling, but you don't have to have people incessantly talking about "hint hint I have a loyalty mission you need to do now!"
If they wanted to do a softer and more inclusive RPG-lite, why force it into the Dragon Age world?
The new one is a good fans. Solid 7 out 8 in co op. Veil gas is a 2
the new LoTF is actually a good game, asmon just sucks absolute shit at it so he thinks its terrible
