25:26 Zeglier’s Instagram posts never have any capital letters and sparse punctuation. Her apology post was perfectly punctuated and capitalized. It was a copy-paste directly from Disney PR
@@StateBlaze1989bruh she didn't even do that. Disney probably forced her to turn over socials so their legal/PR could make a statement. You think they trust her to even copy and paste? She single-handedly tanked the chances of this movie.
The main problem is Disney didn't hire an actress who became an activist. They hired an activist who became an actress. And she can't keep her mouth shut.
I mean, maybe that's the main problem. I think it's that she doesn't see what she's saying as either problematic or political... just completely ignorant to what she's doing.
No, she is an actress, she act the way that her industry told her to act. It’s not she became activist, it’s the activist got into position with power and use that power for their activism, as some who got hired because of that activism, she need to act as activist to please that power.
4:30 I think the worst take is the Peter Dinklage one: being a dwarf actor who capitalizes on dwarf roles and then demands that the step-stool be pulled up behind him so other dwarfs can't occupy dwarf roles
They should have cast as SW a sweet waif like Elle Fanning in Maleficent and seven real dwarves. Gal Gadot could have been the beautiful but aging queen. The dwarves could have carried the movie, like in Time Bandits. You know things are BAD when Hollywood can't even rip off older movies.
I dont think this is an accurate description of Dinklage’s position, he has forever stated time and again that he hates people with dwarfism being depicted as a fairytale creature when they are very real and normal people like everyone else. Even when in talks with hbo and the directors of Game of thrones he made it clear he would only entertain the idea of playing Tyrion as long as it wasn’t a fantasy fairytale version of a dawrf with a long beard and pointy shoes. He only took the role because Tyrion wasn’t that kind of dawrf, he’s just a dude with dwarfism
@@mikegavel9014 I don't think anyone is in danger of thinking a shorter person is a 500 year old master blacksmith with an encyclopedic knowledge of metallurgy and can bench 450 pounds. Because being honest with ourselves, that is far too cool for our reality.
@mikegavel9014 I understand his position, my main complaint is how he imposes his position on others. Some folklore includes dwarfs, and retelling those stories in film is an opportunity for dwarf actors who otherwise might have been overlooked. I understand that he might not like these roles as a matter of pride (although his 'fairytale' reasoning is a bit of a stretch), but when he pretends to speak as the moral authority for dwarfism against employers, he takes away the choice of other dwarf actors if they want to work on these projects or not.
Not really... It's the non White Europeans who own and manage the studio (and most of Hollywood), the writing team and so on... She is part of the problem but if they didn't get her they would have gotten someone just like her.

Peter Dicklage saying dwarves shouldnt be cast in roles just because of dwarfism is funny because that is the whole reason he got his role and fame from GoT he got his payday and doesnt want any dwarf to challenge him for The Arkenstone
But what I don't get is what sort of roles should they get then? Roles for average height people? Dwarf terminator for example. And who should play dwarven roles then? I mean using CGI each time there is a dwarf character is just stupid.
To start controversy and get people to fight with eachother. The corporations that fund Disney ( Blackrock) are hellbent on destroying western culture.
Orlando Bloom said later in interviews that he didn't enjoy playing Paris in Troy yet he still nailed the character and didn't talk about it during promotions until he actually forgot about that movie and someone asked him years later. It would be nice if actors nowadays could understand that acting is their quality and the main thing they should focus on - improving workshop and delivering. What we got is that I have to worry and explain to my teenage kid why influencer A or B has so much voice over the internet with absolute ridiculous things to say about reality they are so detached from.
One thing this video did not talked about, (the critical drinker has a video on it), in a leaked song, instead of cleaning for them this Snow White MAKES THE DWARVES CLEAN THE HOUSE, instead of cleaning for them as a "thank you", which is also a big gesture since she is a princess. But since in modern times we can't show a woman doing house chores for men, this new version seems ingrateful, because it makes it seem like they own HER a favour for protecting her and need to raise their standarts for her to stay with them
The original Snow White *humbled* herself... to show gratitude. The new one shows off what a girl boss she can be. The *arrogance* to go into someone else's home and start giving them orders... This is the new Snow White... written by the same person that wrote the new Barbie movie.
Can’t stand this constant inversion of morality. It’s what ‘awokened’ teachers teach in schools too. No wonder Gen Z brains are cooked and they believe the most preposterous, immoral things.
If you want to know why the dwarfs are animated you can thank Peter Dinklage, he basically lifted the draw bridge behind him and fucked over every dwarf actor cuz he felt offended and changes the narrative to suit him. Most dwarfs hate him because of it.
It's funny isnt it because I didnt hear him complaining being typecast when he got his breakthrough role in GOT. Before that he played typecast Dwarf roles too. Yet for little people now trying to get their acting breaks he decides it's all terrible. What a douche. Let little ppl decide if they want to go for roles whether they are typecast or not. Adults can choose to go into Porn if they want despite the moral issues surrounding that, they have a choice because they are adults.
You can come up with a lot of reasons to explain a casting choice for any given role, but when the entire plot revolves around a character having "skin white as snow," you're not going to get away with giving that role to an actress with skin darker than the person whose whole plot device is envying that character for having lighter skin.
But they keep getting away with it.. we had Idris Elba as Heimdall who is "the whitest of the gods" in norse mythology, he also played Roland of Gilead who is a lineal descendant of king Arthur, was written using Clint Eastwood as inspiration in a story where he is being white is a central plot point . Full disclaimer I like Idris Elba as an actor and I don't blame him for riding the wave and taking on these roles, I blame hollywood for pushing this agenda
They're trying REALLY hard to get us into the "innsmouth look" I'm thinking the lizard/fish people are about to start making appearances and we'll just say "oh yeah they look normal, I see a bunch of actresses/models with that look."
yea this feels incredibly manipulative. like trying to determine our tastes in women?? bruh. i know what i find attractive, and what you're trying to frame as attractive clearly isn't it.
Just like with Snow White and the Huntsman.... They casted the beautiful Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, and then casted a wooden plank as Snow White, Kristen Stewart.
A German comments here my own thoughts: this is nasty culture appropriation as only the Americans can do it. Instead of just a poor copy of a European Cultural Treasure they come up with something that looks like sneering disdain for what they are working with. So here’s something back….some real truth that I have seen no where in the comments on this movie…people afraid to say the truth. Look: they CAN save the film. How? Replace the “leading lady” with a white girl who actually IS a lady in her demeanour…a girl with very white skin, very black hair and very red lips. And I would add very blue eyes because this is an ancient European type….And the colours MEAN something in this story, this “legend”. The dwarves, too. Mean something. It is a deep archetypal tale….passed down to us to learn from and to pass on. That’s all. The legend could be thousands of years old in one form or another. Are the Americans deliberately insulting our culture or just ignorant? My view is both
It’s about the money and 2020, yearof mass liberalism. The money people made a road map based on the idea that the Progressives will get stronger and stronger and stronger. But actually it’s in decline so people are waking up to it because it’s starting to become so hamfisted.
theres no saving the movie if you replace the lead. you have to reshoot 99% of the scenes then redo all the CGI, so you're basically starting from scratch. that's doubling your production cost. this movie is DOA whatever they choose to do with it
Used to be that fantasy was reserved for people who adored fantasy culture. You participated in Marvel if you loved comics, you only animated if you adored animation, games were for gamers, you play DnD because you were lost in the experience etc... now everything is run by corporate interests and the movies are made by people who want to be in show business, but don't care about the art of fantasy culture.
@@krayne2084 You're wrong. There are countless companies that work in these genres for DECADES, and they've always been focused on the money. Don't be delusional. It's just business.
Yes and no. The interest in money has been there forever, but the market control ability to identify and target people to match their greed has ramped up exponentially due to tech advancements. Not to mention our reliance on social media for "opinions" and how they have also co-opted that space ... on purpose ... to shill and lie however they want the spin to go. The litmus test is watching utterly crap shows and movies now get successfully (more than they used to be able to at least) spun as good ones.
The problem with Peter dinklage saying that is he is most well known for playing one of the most famous dwarfs in Hollywood, which is a well-paying job. So it's a bit hypocritical to take jobs typecast for dwarfs and then the vocal about not hiring dwarf actors for dwarf parts, which upset a huge portion of the dwarf community because obviously we all want money. I guess it's easy to be loud and vocal about your idealistic opinions after cashing your own paycheck.
Yeah it's sad af... I really feel sorry for the dwarves who now have to deal with this shit because of him. My biggest thing about Disney, is the constant trying to fit in with the adding people to fit the movement. Instead of sticking to the classics. The story is having a daughter with skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood and hair as black as night. The actors are not looking like the classic cartoons. In truth, it’s becoming black to accommodate others and not really sticking to the classic movies we all grew up with. Coming to the point of ridiculous.

20:45 the reason we hate is, is that the idea of a man saving a damsel in distress isn't a bad plot convention. It's a tale as old as time and people for the most part, still LOVE this dynamic. so for someone to act like a man and woman being in a situation where he helps her, saves her or protects her is seen as evil and gross, when in reality its the best example of masculinity you can have.
It’s been the template for how to be a good man, since we started telling stories, dancing around the fire in our tribes. The hero’s story is THE human story and to undermine it, well what example do people have if all the men in stories are weak idiots.
I do think that's one of the most annoying things in these people who don't understand what their message should be. They make it sound like they want men and women to be enemies instead of allies. You can be a strong person and still get help from others. I also don't really like rewriting history and pretending things weren't that way back then. Society has come a long way from the days when a woman's worth was only in marrying someone and producing kids, we should celebrate that.
@@Arkanna96 they might not label their narrative as such and not even think this as a full fledged they should be enemies, but they are pretty ok with the concept of « they should compete against one another » I don’t blame them, we live in a capitalistic socieity where money is our goal for life, but it wasn’t like this before, and capitalism is older than feminism. The problem happened when the sexual revolution destroyed the concept of family as the single way of living. Then family became only one of the alternatives, now it’s not even considered as one alternative. Getting married and having children is like writing a book, something only a few will do. So in such context, men and women need to compete against one another, and so they need to be enemies.
What is aggravating is these "modern" women don't mind that only men are subject to military draft, it's primarily work in dangerous or outdoor jobs, or the police or fire brigade who protect you are mainly men. No, all that is fine. Once that's over, these women just want to then pretend that men are horrible, the women are victims, and the idea of a man "saving" them is sexism, etc.
Speaking of dynamics, the power dynamic between man and woman has changed over the years. "Women doesn't need a man anymore because she can make her own money & more of it with things like OF". The bar or standards are set too high
Someone asked the goat Brad Pitt a political question and Brad answered "I'm a f---ing actor! They hand me a script. I act. I'm here for entertainment. They want the name, the prestige, the nostalgia... but they loathe everything that made the name iconic and story that captured so many hearts for generations. It's pure insanity that they expected anyone to go along with this. Think about the fact other iterations never use the name when they're altering the story even without changing the underlying theme. Like Maleficent or not, they didn't call it Skerping Beauty. Tangled wasn't called Repunzel. Just this move alone tells the audience to not expect the original. But that common sense is lost. They know they have no selling point without the original IP.
It's a Germanic folk tale. Just imagine how cool it would be if they leaned heavily into old Germanic lore when they redid snow white. It would be so cool to be reunited with a story that has timeless lore that has been forgotten
Now that's a good idea. All these people crying "I'm offended,I'm German" are only following it up with appropriation as a reason. They don't want brown lady playing white lady, got it. These are not story’s but tales. The brothers Grimm were scientists that collected ancient folk tales. These tales are metaphors for things that we lost all knowledge of except these tales. That’s why these two scientists thought it was important to collect and bundle them. Yeah Cinderella was one of their first live action remakes and it’s actually a good movie because it mostly sticks to the original script AND it wasn’t a green screen CGI-fest like the newer ones. It was great costuming, set designs, and cinematography.
Screw the drama surrounding the movie. There is a bigger reason why it is bad: It just isn't a good version of a story. By trying to push certain ideas onto the viewer, the message of the original movie and its overal integrity as a story is soured. You can change things when remaking a movie, yes, but it has gotten to the point where we have a ship of Theseus. It has all been replaced with new parts, and in this case, the movie is Snow White in name only.

Black hair plays an important role in the tale too, but in early versions of the tale Snowwhite had blonde hair. Its a fictive story without time and place. Disney is just like the game studios that are still bragging about the content everyone grew to love, while at the same time forcing out who made them, bashing it through rewriting, retelling, and nerfing, what actually made them popular. All for a "modern" audience that doesn't even support what panders to them.
The bad CGI comment is on point. Look at Starship Troopers. Almost 30 years old and the CGI still holds. It looks better than Black Panthers end fight scene. Disney wants so much done, with the "correct" people doing it, that they are constantly left with an inferior product. The house of mouse is rotten to its core. I hope it falls in on itself.
@@LysanderSA Because the individuals working on it had time and talent. Disney has unreasonable time constraints and with story changes I can only imagine how much re work they have to do. Then there is their DEI hiring practices. You dont get the best in the industry that way. And maybe another reason is that back in 1997, not everyone was using CGI in everything. And so you have all the talent in the industry working on that one film where as today, they are spread to thin. Those things absolutely have an effect on quality.
Not just that but Jurassic Park also. The CGI and practical effects are still absolutely spectacular and that one is 33 years old I think. Hell, there is a church window coming alive in the 1985 Young Sherlock Holmes and it looks amazing.
@Olivaro10 most of the original jurassic park is animatronics. There is like 5 minutes of cgi in that movie. That's where the genius is it. They used both and it's difficult to tell where one starts and the other begins. I wonder if that kind of talent still exists in Hollywood?
10:11, well other little people actors were mad at Peter for taking away what could have possibly been the highest profile gig, and highest paying, they might ever get. They said not every little person actor is a successful millionaire who has broken out of the traditional little person roles who can afford to say that and not be cast in the movie. Basically some were upset he made the choice for all of them despite not personally being affected by it. He could have just said he didn't wanna do it himself and let others decide for themselves without disparaging Disney publicly, or at least waited until after the movie was shot or released. He took away 7 extremely high paying jobs from people like himself because Disney sure as hell wasn't gonna hire any little people for the role after his statement even if others were willing to do it. They also called him a hypocrite for taking those jobs himself on his way up and got rich off of them, then turned around and complained about it and stopped others from following in his footsteps.
It's a parallel to how regulation only helps those already in power Dinklage is trying to impose his own regulations so that he stays as the top dwarf actor It was in the guise of self righteousness but in reality is a power play No one calls dinklage president he doesn't speak for the dwarves
The boromir vs elendil armor comparison is also out of context though. So to be fair, Boromir's armor was from a scene in the third age 3018, while Elendil's armor was from the second age 3320. which lasted another 121 years. Total years apart for armor development = 3139 years apart

I think the worst take is the Peter Dinklage one: being a dwarf actor who capitalizes on dwarf roles and then demands that the step-stool be pulled up behind him so other dwarfs can't occupy dwarf roles
"The step stool" 💀
Even worse than the CGI dwarves, or the poor management, or the bloated budget, Rachel Zegler was the single worst thing to happen to this movie.

You can come up with a lot of reasons to explain a casting choice for any given role, but when the entire plot revolves around a character having "skin white as snow," you're not going to get away with giving that role to an actress with skin darker than the person whose whole plot device is envying that character for having lighter skin.
It does muddy up the whole plot.

My biggest thing about Disney, is the constant trying to fit in with the adding people to fit the movement. Instead of sticking to the classics. The story is having a daughter with skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood and hair as black as night. The actors are not looking like the classic cartoons.

Changing the story to make it feminist is dumb
I think that if they had gone with Dwarf actors from the beginning then Disney would have avoided a lot of hassle with this movie. They'd probably still have to contend with Ziegler being a complete moron during press events but if you had 7 other cast members to shift focus off of Ziegler when things are getting spicy, I think it would've helped them out alot with their PR strategy.

Zegler should have been cast as Grumpy. She is 5'2, 4 inches away from medical dwarfism.
Actually Grumpy would be a perfect role for her. She could be her usual obnoxious brat self and get paid for it.
Honestly, Ziegler is a kid who found a lot of success while growing up in an ideological bubble. She made a lot of dumb remarks thinking they would make her sound cool. I feel bad for her because she’s about to crash into the brick wall that is being an actress in her 30’s who no one wants to work with. definitely agree looking back on how i remember myself at her age. but then i also can't ignore the nagging thought that always surfaces when putting mysself in her place as best i can from what i know: she seems (to be now and has always been during the making of this film) super conscience of the influence that her actions have the ability to wield; and i dont get the notion she takes that fact as serious as one should imo
Well you live and you learn. At some point you need to face reality and realize that your actions have consequences and trying to be so aggressively moralistic isn't healthy or smart. The key difference is if she actually learns from it or not.
Wasn't Heigle kind of the opposite though? She pushed back on the stuff in more of a conservative way and got black listed because of? Sort of like what almost happened to Chris Pratt? I could be wrong on this though so please feel free to correct me if I am.

Nobody told her what to say on her apology message. You can tell somebody literally wrote it for her.
Mulan was a good example because the theme of the younger generation pushing back on traditions is told using the story of a young woman taking up arms to prevent her elderly father from going to war. She breaks tradition but for reasons we would find noble. It's not a girl doing something just because a man told her she can't, and it works because defense of your family resonates with more people in a broader age range than "My dad said I couldn't so here I am" which resonates with children mostly.
