Spot on! The points made in the Racism/Misogyny/Slavery section didn't even occur to me while watching, but looking back it really added to the overall lack of conflict in the game. I'm terrified for Mass Effect 5 haha
It really did, it makes such a difference! I still have to play Mass Effect and am looking forward to it... but I think I'll just stick with the first 3 hahah
@@cyanosaurus233No? Like or dislike whatever you want and certainly don’t be influenced by TH-cam comments of all things. Including this one! I love the game, and if every other soul hated it, I would care not a whit.
I think when the gamers are focused on real life politics in your game instead of discussing potential plot points, characters or the actual universe where the game itself taking place you are royally screwed.
Thank you, I've had so many of these points brought up but people who are just so die hard about it and will defend it to the grave would hurl nothing but insults at you. Even in the LGBT community, like... it's so easy to be 'excluded' by them if you don't fully agree 100% with their views. I also like... spoke with Corinne Busche and didn't give me a time of day just blocked me right then tand there. I work in the game industry and I see that there needs to be some changes within the AAA sphere and Dragon Age, that I waited for 10 years for, was the nail in the coffin for me.
That's the sad truth and risk when it comes to sharing your opinion. I find a lot of the time people resort to bullying, insulting, or blocking because they don't actually have reasons or arguments that defend their view, or they can't articulate their thoughts when their emotions are heightened. I have hope that positive changes will be made, especially now that more and more people are recognizing what needs to happen.
@@LuminEskaGaming I feel like that is for any fandom. Either that, or they don't really know how to articulate their thoughts well enough or provide context to what they mean. So their words ever rarely make much sense. Like the small implosion among the Lord of the Rings fans. Those who love the works of Tolkien doesn't like Amazon's adaptation of his works and finds it disrespectful, and similarly to the new animated film. I'm pretty moderate in my views, but the two (and I hate to say this word) extreme sides of the social-political spectrum drives me wild because they're not as dissimilar as they like to think themselves to be. Both sides call each other names, it's mostly the left who doesn't want to talk to anyone remotely conservative (not that conservatives do the same, I just noticed it more on the left), and both sides can display racism, sexism, and any other ism in a specific way. So most times I'm absolutely baffled. I see what's going on as a massive swing of the pendulum, where it went one way too strongly and now it has to be dialed back. 😥
First of all, thank you so much for your honest and heartfelt review - I haven't finished the game yet, but I completely agree with everything you've said! ❤ I'm am sad to say this, but as someone who cares deeply for Dragon Age as a whole, this does not feel like a Dragon Age game to me. And the more I listen to your review, the more I understand why. Shallow writing and the use of modern language really make me feel like I am watching a Disney/Marvel movie, not playing an epic fantasy game set in the world I know and love. I also miss being able to react differently, or being treated differently based on who my character is (like being treated with mistrust for being a mage, for example, or, as you mentioned, looked down on for being an elf) - all these interactions made the world feel so much more real and immersive! But what hurts the most is that that it feels like the events from the previous games don't matter at all, like the characters we played and befriended and care so much about never existed ... 💔 Or, if they do appear, they are not the same ... I am honestly scared every time I open the game, because it feels like it is almost trying to ruin the world and the lore we know and love, and I really hope that does not happen, because I love Dragon Age ...
Thank YOU! Don't worry, for those of us that deeply love and care about Dragon Age, this game cannot ruin the world and lore. If anything, this can make our appreciation for it even stronger! No matter what they decide to do with Dragon Age, I will keep the first 3 games close to my heart, and replay them over and over again throughout my life. I think a lot of people will end up simply ignoring The Veilguard, pretending it doesn't exist/isn't canon.
@@LuminEskaGaming Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! ☺You are absolutely right! No matter what happens, this game cannot ruin our love for Dragon Age - if anything, it will make us appreciate the first three games even more deeply. ❤ I will keep what you said in mind when I'm feeling sad or disappointed. Thank you again!
4:27 I genuinely don't remember the music for Veilguard. I don't think there was anything terrible in it musically but definitely nothing memorable for me either. It's the first of the series that I don't think I would recognise the "theme song" for if I heard a clip of it without context. Whenever I hear Leliana's song from DA:O I get such a nostalgic feeling, there's nothing in Veilguard that would be memorable enough for that (musically, not talking about the game itself because that's a whole other story 😂)
You said you didn’t know what you’re doing. Well…I couldn’t disagree more. This was the most thoughtful and detailed review of this game to date! Bravo!
According to the art book. Isabela, Dorian, and inquisition were supposed to play advisor roles. At one point the were gonna have the base be on a ship/ submarine which then would makes sense for Isabela as a captain and smuggler. But the advisor roles idea was scrapped but kept the characters in
I don't think it's possible to look at this game as a standalone game and not a Dragon Age game. Bioware intentionally wanted to get the Dragon Age audience to invest in this game, otherwise they wouldn't have repurposed a failed live service game into Veilguard. I think the few things this game does do right are completely overshadowed by EVERYTHING this game does wrong. However, despite what I said earlier, I do believe if this game released as a standalone game with 0 tie-in to Dragon Age (or at least played like a spin-off) then perhaps the game would have been perceived better. Unfortunately, Bioware didn't do that, and instead, slapped the Dragon Age brand on an unfinished product that went through production hell. And then, the politics. The politics goes deeper than just the writing and blatant virtue signaling through characters like Taash. The races all lost their unique traits and all look the same. Even in the character creation, all the races look exactly the same with very minor differences. Elves looks like normal people with long ears. Dwarves look like normal people just shorter. The Qunari look like normal dudes with horns, which totally removes their towering, buff, imposing physique they've had in literally every game. And you also pointed out how it's nearly impossible to make a feminine female, but very easy to make masculine females and masculine males. The character creation only goes one way. I agree with most of what you said. And for your very first review, I really liked your take ^_^. you should definitely play more games, and do more reviews.
For sure, what you said here is spot on. There are too many poor choices made in The Veilguard that can't be overlooked, and it was drained of so much creativity and uniqueness. And thank you! Playing more games and doing more reviews is the plan 🥰
I wish I could get my money back. This does not deserve the name Dragon Age. Not a single, "Thank the Maker." I agree, the writing is terrible. How is a game 10 plus years in development even seem rushed.
@@LuminEskaGaming the chantry was all but entirely deleted as a concept in dav. iirc they were going to have a chantry faction but someone on the team thought it was "boring" so they basically just deleted its existence entirely. goes to show how much they valued what the previous writers gave to them. so sad to see tbh
@@LuminEskaGaming ikr!!! Idk if u have seen the artbook for DAV but it had some great stuff in there, idk what happened but so much of it seems to have got lost in the horrible development cycle of the game
Great review! After 10 years of waiting this is what we get?! So disappointing. This is the definition of a soft modern HR approved game. Everything has to be safe now and that’s never been what dragon has been about! Dragon focused on darker more nuanced topics like slavery, racism, etc. it’s like these new devs at BioWare know nothing or don’t even care about established lore. This game should’ve focused solely on Solas he should’ve had an army of elves join him trying to fight for freedom and brining back the elven empire, and we should’ve played as the Inquisitor not some random guy/girl that varric found on the side of the road lol companions should not have been forced upon us, but they likely did that because they knew that 95% likely would’ve not recruited Taash. We can’t even be mean? Like cmon seriously? Do BioWare even know what roleplay even is? It’s clear now that this new BioWare just simply isn’t talented enough like the old BioWare was, and it shows on the recent titles. Veilguard, andromeda, anthem. Idk if you’re a Mass Effect fan but the next title will probably have more of the same problems. Not looking forward to it or anything BioWare related. For me it’s sad to admit that because mass effect and dragon age are my two favorite game series, but maybe it’s best if they just stop so that don’t continue to tarnish the legacy of these once great beloved franchises.
Exactly! It's very easy to tell when effort, care, and love have been put into a game, versus when they haven't. I still have to get around to playing Mass Effect, but I feel bad for its fans, too. I don't understand how they can disregard and disrespect BioWare's legacy like this. So much wasted potential.
I think I agree with almost everything you said here. I'll just add my two cents about political / activist writing: I think one notable issue is that you only ever see it done in modern triple-A games from one side. You almost never see a story of a man struggling under cruel misandrist woman who has power over him, you will never see a story that might be interpreted as a criticism against abortion because someone just feels like it, you will almost never see a story that implies that immigration might be a potential cause of a particular societal problem. Rather, it's all going to be one sided, fit a single narrative and a single ideology. Why is this an issue? Because it emphasizes what this is all about - preaching. This isn't an attempt to truly explore the human condition and make people think, rather it is a ham fisted attempt by self-centered activists to "educate" as many people as possible.
💯yes! This is the case for a lot of media now... it's unfortunate. Hopefully in the future we will have more thought-provoking storytelling that explores the human condition properly. I honestly feel that if we did, the world would be a better place.
Dorian's story, apart from being about being gay, was so much about the pressure of being the carrier of your family expectations and lineage. Patriarchy is also about how men are caged into a role that diminishes their whole. Inquisition dealt with that and it was modern for its time. But, it was a well crafted, well thought out story. Veilguard could have done that, but it treated its writers as a weight and its world's complexity as a crutch to do away with.
Fantastic review! You nailed it. It's such a shame this game is a massive let down to us passionate fans of the series. Keep up the great work, I can listen to you all day.
Veilguard talks a big game about being inclusive, but the writers took the most cowardly approach where nobody has any problems whatsoever. They sanded down all the edges of the setting out of some inane push to appeal to a younger audience (middle schoolers, evidently by the writing quality), and stripped the setting of all its history and identity in the process. Look at Taash: their character is all about their gender and cultural identity, but because the writers don't want there to be any negative consequences in society for Taash to grapple with, what should have been a hard-hitting story comes off as a teenager ranting that their mother doesn't understand them. I get that it's partly some wish-fulfillment of Weekes, but defanging these thorny societal issues robs the story of its meaning.
Wow your first review! Great job. Tip from your friendly neighbourhood audio engineer: you've got a "de-noise"/"voice isolator" and or a "loudness" or "noise-gate" on it that's eating some syllables of your words and snuffing out some high frequencies. I have to do the same when I do voiceover, so I get it when you're in a noisy space. Maybe try rolling it back a bit for the next one? Anyway, not really important stuff. Just trying to be a helpful neighbourhood audio engineer. Good luck with the channel!
Thank you!! I struggle working with audio sometimes and have definitely noticed some things I'd like to fix. I'll play around with those settings and see what can be improved. I really appreciate this advice! ☺
Maybe it's because I am a parent, but when Taash blew up at her mom at dinner I was screaming for a shut up and listen to your mother option. I do mostly agree with your review here. The lack of conflict doesv really make the game less enjoyable. I played through a second time, and it was actually a really fun game at a harder difficulty, if you just skip through the dialogue. Which is not at all what dragon age was in previous games. I would argue that what we saw of Minrathous was not a good look at the country, or even the city. We are looking at the dock town, where magisters would send their slaves to run errands, or where people arent wealthy enough to own slaves. And while some slaves are treated poorly and experimented on, this is mainly done behind closed doors. And for a lot of slaves (in game) slavery wasn't any worse than being a servant in southern Thedas.
Honestly, I think the Dragon Age franchise is dead. It has no immediate future. All the data points to Veilguard selling OK but not gangbusters, and since it didn’t do well in terms of awards, you can’t make the argument that sales were soft but the game did really well critically. EA will likely pass on a fifth Dragon Age title. On top of that, DA hasn’t done well in terms of adaptations. Some of the comics were OK, but the Netflix series bombed and DA’s forays into live action/anime were even worse.
As sad as it is, I have to agree, and I actually think the Dragon Age franchise needs to end here. If they can't provide the same quality as their previous games, or improve on it, then down is the only direction they have to go.
@@LuminEskaGaming The fact that Inquisition ended with such a gangbusters reveal, that Solas was an ancient Elven god and was seeking to tear down the Veil, only to bungle the writing so badly in Veilguard that for some reason Varric was seemingly leading the search for Solas, is an actual crime.
Didn't really expect much. Honestly the last Dragon Age game i played was 2, and didn't really like 2 that much. Origins is where the series peaked. I loved classic Bioware. Bg 1&2, KotOR, ME 1&2 were all great, but the company lost what made them great after EA bought them. The great minds that made the original Dragon Age don't even work there anymore
Wasn't Dorian's whole story about him being resentful of his parents because he's gay and they wanted grandchildren? Elements were added to make the parents the villains and Dorian the sympathetic one, but it still boiled down to that. Also, 'preferring the company of men' is very much a real world euphemism.
Well said and well thought out review. I am in agreement with everything you said. I worry for Mass Effect 5 or whatever they are going to call it. Sad days for our favorite franchises. This is not the same Bioware as it was well over a decade ago now. There are some former developers from the old Bioware that started there own team and are working on a new sci-fi RPG game called Exodus. It looks really cool and they stated that they are focusing on the hallmark features like telling a compelling story, choices, consequences, build variety, etc. in their upcoming game. You should check it out I think you would like it. Liked and subscribed 👍
Structured, detailed and good insights. Well done. Flow of speech is a bit hindered but that's something that comes with experience and if you hadn't said it I would never have guessed that this was your first try at a review. Keep doing this and you'll most likely improve the flow of your commentary as well, finding a more natural rythm and allowing for greater variety in tone, inflection etc as that's what's most noticably lacking at present. In any case I liked your review, I agree with your assessment of this game even though I may be a bit harsher. As for DA, if I had my wish, this game would be dexlared non-canon and a new attempt would be made. I don't see a future for DA from where we are now.
I have no problem with politics in games; if the author wants to promote a point of view, this is a good thing. There has always been political messaging in Bioware games. I also have no problems with inclusivity or what people like to call "woke." I am curious, if politics is a subject on the table, why people who claim to be progressive are defending a company that in 2023 purged 50 staff, including writers like Mary Kirby, the author of Loghain, Viviennne, and Varric as a response to workers unionizing. People forget there was a union picket line outside BioWare's Edmonton office on N7 day 2023 for this very reason. They're also responsible for dangerously overworking their staff during crunch periods and pioneering predatory microtransactions. Transphobia, homophobia, racism and sexism are all worthy targets of derision. Still, just because a company makes a surface-level inclusive product that gets trashed by reactionaries for being inclusive, that doesn't mean they're progressive overall. It shouldn't mean progressives should be expected to automatically defend that product, ignoring the ethics around how it was made and how it stands up in its own right.
I like seeing fans of DA, whether the review is critical or positive, seem to agree that a lot of things in Veilguard were just not handled well or are straight bad. Same with your review, I agree with a lot of your criticisms. The body slider thing shouldn’t be an issue, but omg it is! I’m a woman and I’m so tired of busty figures being treated like they are bad. I don’t like companies being so supposedly worried about digital women being sexualized that they are willing to erase a body type… it also almost seems malicious in nature. It’s not all about boobs and butts though (Hahaa) You really can’t make a specific body types either… like I struggled to make my Qunari slim and muscular like an athlete. Anyone with muscles had to be huge and bulky. As with the body types the game is, like you said, so inclusive in some ways and not in others. Im glad that being nonbinary or trans was given its moment to shine… but what if you wanted to be gay or lesbian? Maybe bisexual or pansexual? No specially curated dialogues or choices I guess? I’m just really curious about all the behind the scenes development when that finally comes out.
*YES.* Omg. I'm a K cup naturally; I live with the back problems... I love the idea of a hero *for once in my ENTIRE damn life* being someone who looks like me... it's so sad we can't do that. The lightest skin tones, too, have something in common with the darkest skin tones: we often get ignored by makeup companies *and* game companies alike. Veilguard's body triangle is pretty damn awesome, I can have a buff muscle mommy and a delicate elf and a vavavoom dwarf; I love it... but like, why can't you ALSO be stacked in the front and back? I understand clipping issues exist, but why JUST for T&A? Why is there no solution for this stuff? For all the strides Veilguard makes, it also has some big stumbles.
I greatly appreciate this review and I think I wholeheartedly agree with pretty much everything said here. I generally try not appreciate takes that just confirm me in my beliefs, but in this case there was something that had me stop and consider. Because after playing this game I had to ask myself "Do I dislike this game because I'm turning into one of those cringy, dudebro, toxic masculinity, anti-woke, bastards?" I was seeing a lot of hate for this game and wasn't entirely sure how much of it was genuine criticism or just counter-culture. I think yours is a level headed and honest take from a person who genuinely wanted to enjoy the game. I personally couldn't finish the game, or at least I haven't yet. It made me too sad and didn't capture my interest with anything that the previous games did like character, the world or the gameplay. To mention gameplay I could not enjoy it, but that may be because I insisted on a mage build with staff only. You could say that's my fault for being stubborn with the build, but I'd rather say it' a fault line that some builds aren't fun to play.
Although I haven't played Veilguard and don't feel like doing so, based on the serious reviews I've found (without any agenda or secondary controversies), I believe that the format of the latest game doesn't fit my expectations and my personal vision of this universe. Naturally, I respect those who think and feel differently given the fact that preferences are subjective. I will always consider Inquisition and Origins as milestones in this franchise. I really liked what I heard. I just think that sometimes your audio is unexpectedly low on isolated occasions. Or maybe I need to reevaluate how my hearing is. But what matters is that you speak with objectively, common sense and insight about criteria and departments involving this game that I consider important. I feel sufficiently "cautious" and "discouraged" to stop at Inquisition given what I have investigated and researched.
Tbh except for the end quest ,all the game looked like a giant filler .. because let's be honest every faction agree with you straight ahead , Then companions quest are terrible every enemy is just their evil counterparts, in the hardling quest quite literally 😂. I found clownish the Idea they choosed haardling as a possible sacrifice because they ended her story , when she should be the one that would restore magic to the dwarfs 😅 , but hey better to keep a bully non binary instead . I saw some people saying that the best finale is the "worst one" where everyone die . And tbh is quite spot on , they all look incompetent and childish they would not keep a candle to past companions and against these enemies. Rook ... Is just a terrible MC . Spineless with the same voice of a priest at sundays after he drinks his quarter of wine .
It really wasn’t a “Dragon Age”. Andromeda was a much better ME game than this was a DA game. And I think Tash was a perfect example of the narcissistic attitude of the typical trans-activist. And the character creator was designed to build female-presenting males at best.
You think they're misrepresenting the community but they're the community. You don't write a community of quiet people as loud and obnoxious because it doesn't define them, but Tash is that representation. We always try to be nice and give the benefit of the doubt because we want to be accomodating, this is why we get people like Tash and now it's bleeding into video games
Hi. I have an honest question so please don’t attack me, but where does misogyny run rampant in past dragon age games? In southern Theda’s women have quite a lot of power and I can’t think of any times that were specifically misogynistic.
Origins definitely went to some very dark places when it comes to male on female sexual v*olence (city elf origin and broodmother storyline comes to mind), and there were a few minor instances all around. Men reacting to female warden candidates with utter surprise, male NPCs with some sleezy dialogue which you'd never see again in Inquisition or after, NPCs checking out your character's body (doesn't happen to males) and so forth. There's also Sten and the OG Qun, which delegated women to certain roles (no women in the army, they were "shopkeepers, priests and farmers" I seem to recall). But yeah, after DA2 I think it all vanished. :p
I think u made a good point.. if this didn't have Dragon Age on the title it would be received differently. Its not a good DA game at all. But it's own IP would be fine. But then again ppl wouldn't defend it as much lol. But ultimately the writing n characters were so pathetic and boring imo. But the agenda pushing was an automatic 🖕🖕 for me. To me this pos tarnished the franchise (prob killed it) and im def worried about Mass Effect. 😮
I don't get how an action rpg can be called "not aweful" if it fails as an RPG, is like a rithm game with garbage fire music and saying "the controls were responsive, so is not that bad"
it also just fails entirely at being a good action game lmfao. the talent tree is just a hot dog water version of something from path of exile-esque games, all the enemies do the same mechanics, boss fights are omega sleeper for the same reason, companions barely matter at all and dodge rolling is super broken and can be done infinitely with no downsides. like damn, I've beaten legit all of the da games 4-5+ times on nightmare and this game literally put me to sleep at some point with the brainless button mashing and rolling. like the rest of the game, the gameplay is extremely shallow with not an ounce of depth to it.
i agree with everything you said about this game when i fully played it. one thing I'll add. theres waaaaay too many companion quests. i used to want to spend more time outside combat with my team in Inquisition. i got my wish in the next game but maaan. it was waay too much when i also wanted to complete more main story missions. the amount of Companion quests meant that they were left on weird cliffhangers instead of immediately continueing to the next part. Lucanis literally kills Zara and then finds out his cousin used Blood magic on him to control him and the demon..... why did we not immediately get into a scuffle with the cousin or are able to tell the Talons about the betrayal as soon as? these companion quests did not have the conclusions or hard to make choices like i had hoped. i was sat wondering if what I say to Davrin would influence how he trains Assan. what would happen if i Leaned into no mercy advice for Lucanis, would he be fully taken over by his demon. Bellera, i was hoping she would hate or disaprove of me if i was stone cold about killing her brother. why was the god Anaris just some dude??? this game proves not everyone can write and i think a big part of why this game came out the way it did was the troubled development and writers being laid off/ leaving and new contractors that werent in the know of the games lore. it was just so diaspointing. the only worldstate that matters from last game is the Female Levallen that romances Solas. my fav part was Talking to Morrigan and then having to remember her words when Talking to Mythal if you didnt want to fight her. literally Solas, Morrigan and Mythal are probs the only characters in game that spoke like they were in a fantasy game
having that many companion quests might've been interesting, in a different game with actually interesting companions.... my god I was so done by the 3rd time u go out with davrin to pick up fuckin berries for assan or literal rocks for neve, like jfc how could they make this and think it was even remotely interesting in any way
I'm glad you brought this up - I quickly became so tired of the companion quests! If only the writing and pacing were better, then they could have created quests that were actually engaging for its players.
@@jaded-harper death by a thousand cuts 😩 I think every companion quest has us doing that boring mini game when we were with them. Go here press x, go here press x
A very good review! For me the biggest crime was, that Rook could've been your (and morrigans) child from the first game. That would've been such a big plot twist. But nah...
That's actually very difficult and very restrictive to implement, and definitely not a good idea. 1) First of all, the character you mention already has a name, "Kieran", so you can't name him yourself. 2) Kieran is a mage, so that wouldn't allow the player to choose a class. 3) Kieran is a man, so he is already blocking the players who want to play with a female character. 4) Kieran physically looks like a human, blocking the players who want to play another race. 5) Remember Kieran is not always YOUR son, he can be also Alistair or Loghain's. 6) This one is the most important, Kieran is a character that doesn't exist in every player's worldstate. His existence depends on whether you made Morrigan's ritual or not. This alone makes it impossible to have this character as the main character. 7) In Inquisition's default worldstate Kieran doesn't even exist.
jesus christ. can we not just stop with all this please. People who truly believe they are trapped in the wrong body need help, and im not talking about help to cut off their biological traits or help to take life altering drugs. ANYONE who works with social psychology or children would know that you dont just give-in just to make the subject feel better. To learn to love your own body for what it is, now thats helping. But that is rough and hard and real and is going to take time. By including all these delusional things in everyday life stuff such as videogames, we are actually confusing children and feeding the delusional thoughts.
I agree, that's why it's so important to talk about gender dysphoria seriously instead of including it for the sake of pushing a certain agenda onto people. I would argue that Dragon Age is not a series made for children, nor is it appropriate for them. Though, The Veilguard has taken more of a youthful approach. In an adult-centered game, there is room for adult-friendly subjects - not where you feed into the delusion, but are able to address and interact with it maturely.
Probably the most honest review I've heard about the game, I don't think I'm ever gonna play this watching ur play through was enough veilguard for me, bioware needs to die if ther was gonna be another game otherwise its just gonna be the same or worse
This game has been sanitised of anything and everything that made dragon age. They took a woke game and slapped some dragon age lipstick on it! The writing came from instagram posts that's how it feels!
as someone who play origin this break my heart cause cleanly the woke activist just used dragon age name to put their shit woke shit in the game like a woke game can work like look at inquisition, the game literally had a tran and gay character the write so good you don't even care but this game, you can't even romance certain character if your character not gay or trans, the write it awful, and Bioware it done, don't be surprised that Mass effect 5 or whatever they call it, be worst
Thank you! My mic is a Shure SM7B, it's supposed to be one of the best on the market (or was, not too long ago). I'll have to play around with the settings and see what I can do!
Yeah , this game was a huge disappointment and did feel rushed. It was neutered , Writing was horrendous , the supporting cast is forgettable , romance does not deliver and it just looks like the devs were told hurry up and finish this crap so we can move on to mess up Mass Effect 4 After this game I have lost all my faith in Bioware and I'm no longer looking forward to Mass Effect 4.
The game is a massive failure. It will lose at least $100 million, and it will not reach even the bare minimum of their first couple of months targeted sales in its entire lifetime.
Hey that review was spot on and I really liked the nuanced perception of the woke stuff within the game. I've also always said it, you can add gay/lesbian/trans and other LGBTQ+++ to the game. But it needs to make sense and it isnt their sole ''character trait''! Good job! Thumbs up!
Sometimes I wonder if Taash was written by a genuine leftist writer who couldn't outright tell their liberal boss-the kind who reduces struggle and resistance to identity and labels-to fuck off. I imagine they submitted the story for review, fully expecting their boss’s usual obliviousness. And then, with quiet defiance, they carried on with the storyline as a subtle "screw you" to performative resistance.
Easy, the selling numbers, and the rewiev numbers tell that. Failure or success. A low % rating and few sales figures do not mean that it was successful. And vice versa.
But wait ...there's more. Mass Effect is right around the corner. And judging by our reaction to this game, i wonder if it's going to be a big middle finger to everyone.
It is Garbage Utter Utter Utter Garbage no doubt about it Bad writing Bad spongy Combat repetetive and boring. the combat is the same as other Dragon age Games ??? are you out of your mind done with this video 4 minutes in ..... disliked.

I think when the gamers are focused on real life politics in your game instead of discussing potential plot points, characters or the actual universe where the game itself taking place you are royally screwed.
Gamers? I think you meant Game Developers. Gamers are sick of it.
Bravo!
Thank you so much! That's so kind ☺
Right! I don't remember any mention of the Maker at all. So much must have gone wrong behind the scenes.

I'll just add my two cents about political / activist writing:
I think one notable issue is that you only ever see it done in modern triple-A games from one side.
That was a great video, well done.
👏👏👏
Thank you! ☺
Fantastic review! You nailed it. It's such a shame this game is a massive let down to us passionate fans of the series. Keep up the great work, I can listen to you all day.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Very honest review
Having that perspective absolutely makes a difference! Good point about Minrathous, too. There is so much I wish we could have seen and explored.
😀 A really good, profound game review. It was fun to watch. Thank you! 🤩
Thank YOU! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Nailed it!
Finacial and gaming failure...
16:49 - 16:58 what would have made more sense is if inqusitor was the lead in 4th game sins he/she swore to stop/save him

Thanks so much! I will definitely take a look at Exodus!!
I appreciate this feedback so much, thank you! I'm excited to improve as I go along.
Yeah, this was a great analytic video. very eloquent and thoughtful. Room for improvement? sure... but that's true of everythign.

Great point!
Bioware is officially dead now. Its time to move on.
Great review, my friend. I agree with almost everything you said. It's an 'Okay' non-Dragon Age game, but a very bad Dragon age game.
Thank you! Absolutely 💯
Minor thing for your next review , add a little background music, but great review :)
Great suggestion, thank you! I'll keep that in mind for the next one ☺
Thank you, I appreciate that! And you heard right, I need to play around with the settings to improve my audio 😅
Tbh except for the end quest ,all the game looked like a giant filler .. because let's be honest every faction agree with you straight ahead ,
Then companions quest are terrible every enemy is just their evil counterparts, in the hardling quest quite literally 😂.
I'm just gonna comment on the music aspect. While generally underwhelming, there's one track that is absolutely amazing, "An Unfamilliar Sense"
There are some great elements to that piece, for sure! Lorne Balfe's style is very present there, it reminds me so much of the Game Awards theme.
Yeah an ARPG with no RPG while the A has stage 3 cancer. How did we go from origins to this...
it also just fails entirely at being a good action game lmfao. the talent tree is just a hot dog water version of something from path of exile-esque games, all the enemies do the same mechanics, boss fights are omega sleeper for the same reason, companions barely matter at all and dodge rolling is super broken and can be done infinitely with no downsides. like damn, I've beaten legit all of the da games 4-5+ times on nightmare and this game literally put me to sleep at some point with the brainless button mashing and rolling. like the rest of the game, the gameplay is extremely shallow with not an ounce of depth to it.
Touché!
i agree with everything you said about this game when i fully played it. one thing I'll add.
theres waaaaay too many companion quests. i used to want to spend more time outside combat with my team in Inquisition. i got my wish in the next game but maaan. it was waay too much when i also wanted to complete more main story missions. the amount of Companion quests meant that they were left on weird cliffhangers instead of immediately continueing to the next part.

I just have one thing to say about this review... your playable character looked fantastic!
Thanks so much!!
@SeventhheavenDK Tbh i've never before heard of a Kieran. Sure it was hardly possible, but i'd faith in the writers. Played out...differently.
jesus christ. can we not just stop with all this please.
Clearly a failure, i say that before i watch the video.
Probably the most honest review I've heard about the game, I don't think I'm ever gonna play this watching ur play through was enough veilguard for me, bioware needs to die if ther was gonna be another game otherwise its just gonna be the same or worse

At this point I don't even wanna see mass effect 5 I'll just remember how great the trilogy was 😂
I appreciate that! & yeah I agree, I'm really hoping this is it for Dragon Age. Some things are best left alone.

as someone who play origin this break my heart cause cleanly the woke activist just used dragon age name to put their shit woke shit in the game like a woke game can work like look at inquisition, the game literally had a tran and gay character the write so good you don't even care but this game, you can't even romance certain character if your character not gay or trans, the write it awful, and Bioware it done, don't be surprised that Mass effect 5 or whatever they call it, be worst
good review, i'd love to see more :D but try to grab a new mic :P
Did they even make back the development cost? 😂
Complete joke
This discourse a rehash of what happend with da2, but way more extreme.
Good job! Thumbs up!
Absolutely! & thank you! ☺
What outfit or faction did you choose to look like that
I chose Mage as my class, and Mourn Watch as my faction ☺
@ awesome I’ll choose that next play through
Sometimes I wonder if Taash was written by a genuine leftist writer who couldn't outright tell their liberal boss-the kind who reduces struggle and resistance to identity and labels-to fuck off.
Failure
I actually enjoy this game, I have more fun playing this than I did dragons dogma or Baldurs gate, love the combat and the world
Enjoying this game more than Baldurs Gate 3 is INSANE, L take
@ the combat in Baldurs gate was about as boring as watching paint dry, and your companions don’t do anything unless you do it for them,
totaly failure the trash in the trash infinity trash game
Worst Game of the year
But wait ...there's more. Mass Effect is right around the corner. And judging by our reaction to this game, i wonder if it's going to be a big middle finger to everyone.
awful game
Dragon age the gayguard
It is Garbage Utter Utter Utter Garbage no doubt about it Bad writing Bad spongy Combat repetetive and boring. the combat is the same as other Dragon age Games ??? are you out of your mind done with this video 4 minutes in ..... disliked.
I never said the combat is the same as other DA games. Quite the opposite!
@@LuminEskaGaming No you didn't But you seemed to indicate that the combat was ok when (in my view) it is terrible just a few words ... samey, spongy enemies, bloodless and boring just boring it looks like it should be fun but it just isn't. your video is good but you are too kind to the Game (In my Veiw) 1 out of ten for this game.
Exactly, it's written like a children's book and plays like a game for 6 year olds.
Failure
