This is my favourite song in the whole musical! Both movie and stage play, I'm glad they didn't change too much about the song from the movie when they adapted the stage play and for all those people out there like; why'd they have to change so uch well;
They were adapting the story so some things had to be changed about the songs so they'd fit into the new story and the story changed so much because Alan Menken, Jack Feldman and Harvey Fierstein wanted a newer, fresher sound and feel to it, because if they copied the original film frame by frame, scene by scene word for word, it wouldn't really connect with some younger audiences who hadn't seen the movie and might not understand or follow.
Now don't get me wrong, I love this movie and I love the stage show, they are both brilliant and gorgeous in their own right and when comparing it to the movie you ccan see they're very different but that's okay because that just shows how unique and beautiful they truly are :)
