Hi everyone! Thanks so much for making these baos with me! If you're making a bunch, you can store them in the fridge for a week or so. You can also pop them in the freezer where they'll be fresh for a few months. Separate them with parchment paper so they don't stick to each other and it'll be much easier to take out as well. When reheating baos, wrap it in a wet towel or wet paper towel, place it on a plate, and microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute. 45 seconds is usually the sweet spot for me. Be careful when removing the paper towel, as the steam can be very hot. Love you all!
Hi @jasminpak I tried making the dough for 12 servings of bao buns and it came out dry. The recipe stated: 1/3 cup of milk 1/2 tsp instant yeast 2tbsp sugar 1 1/4 cup AP flour Are these the right amounts? Because my dough was not smooth at all.
@@christinagomez9125 Flour absorption often varies from brand to brand, so try slowly incorporating more milk until you feel like the consistency is right! It also helps to add the milk when it's not too cold. In other situations, when I found my dough to still be unsmooth, I would knead it for a little longer and it would eventually smoothen out! :)

After 17 years in England I was so chuffed to finally able to make it myself lol I used to buy them from Chinese shops here. This; however; is taking it to another level!!! 1: self raising flour already has baking powder mixed into it, cant go wrong with it for the floofers, try self raising flour i'd say 2: Yeah you do need yeast otherwise it wont be fluffy it'll be flat

Hii!! I love ur videos! The baos are sooo cute!! I just had a question about baking it... I tried steaming it like you did, but when I took them out after 10 minutes, the dough wasn't really cooked. I tried putting the other ones in for longer, they got super suuper big and overcooked, the dough wasn't soft and fluffy, it was firm and yucky haha. I probably messed something up before, because the dough was rlly hard to work with. What should I do?

First time making the piggies with taro after some practicing making pork and beef char siu bao. For the dough, I used cake flour, instant yeast, and warmed the milk in a sauce pan so it activates the yeast a bit, then proofed at 90°F for 45 min to double in size. Not sure how long to steam the taro. It wasn't mashing together like paste and my sugar was granulated so I put the filling in a sauce pan so the sugar melted but didn't want it to turn out like candy so as soon as it started to bubble I took it out and put it in the blender, the texture was all gooey. Refrigerator did solidify a bit but was difficult to stuff the dough without it oozing out in some way. I somehow managed. The food coloring made my dough striped, I suppose I needed to roll out the dough enough so it's all uniform. I had my pot in a roaring boil before steaming the baos for 10 min. In the end, it turned out just fine

When my dad makes them, he just kneads it until it’s the same consistency as the video, and i don’t think the type of milk matters that much.
There’s a place in San Diego (called Harumama) , that makes buns just like these! It’s my absolute favorite restaurant ever!
