I think it's crazy how no matter the meta changes from all the way back in D1 to right now in D2, hand cannons have always stayed in the top percentiles of usage.
it is because they are cool,though revolver-like guns in the same space as magical space lightning are uncanny
They are some of the best handling/feeling weapons in the game with a reasonably high skill ceiling and for the most part can compete with most weapon at medium range and tend to dominate around the 30m range mark
@Bro that's crazy They're also phenomenal at skirmishing/peaking, where a lot of competitive play / trials play is centered around. Same reason pulse rifles are intrinsically good in those environments too :)
@Karail Ninety-Nine ??? Literally slowest killing primaries that get outranged by pulses and shredded by smgs and sidearms that require 100% headshot accuracy
I’m not joking if I say that three tapping with ace and see the opponent exploding, or one tapping with hawkmoon are still the most satisfying things left in this game and the only reason I still play

Frost's really good at the engaging while surrounded from different lanes. That always freaks me out and I often end up a sitting duck.
Had to try hard as hell to get those Khepri's kills on such a open and vertical map. But it's no gimmick, hyper-lethal anti barricade comp exotic goes hard

The Rose you're looking for was my very first Rose drop ever, with mine just have Corkscrew instead of Hammer-Forged, it is pretty decent and I like using it over crafted Austringer, though I'm not that good of a player to make the most out of it any way...

You might to go for heavy grip over smooth unless you want 50 stability with hammer forged, accurized, slideshot, rf, range MW. Also smallbore or corkscrew may be better to reach 55 or 57 stab with smooth grip or 60 and 62 with heavy

I don't use it often but I really like Thorn as a handcannon although the "feel" is better on other guns for me.
I love everything about thorn but in this meta it's hard for any hand cannon because pulse rifles can spam a entire lane with 40 bullets from crazy range so it's hard to compete with hand cannon
Flank the lanes. Pop in and out of cover. Pulse rifle meta won’t last long once people play more aggressively with hand cannons again. Much harder to use a pulse when your opponent is moving quickly from cover to cover

It feels surprising getting people using hand cannon on any pvp playlist nowadays, i always go in with a hand cannon but had to change to a pulse or scout mid game when everyone on the other team is using long range weapons

I’ve played so much comp I have over 100 roses. No god roll.
Best so far is Hammer/Fluted, Accurized/Flared, Elemental Capacitor, Rangefinder, Polymer/Textured, Range MW.
I’d have like Smallbore, and instead of textured grip, smooth grip.
Now that sliding no longer has a penalty in season 20, will be looking for slideshot.
