One of my favourite tunes on that album set. Kind of cool to listen to his non-slide playing and I love the drums on this cut too. And I love that 335. I saw another TH-cam of them playing this at Red Rocks and he was playing some big ass arch top as I recall.
@@Jezza819 I saw them in Omaha thanks to a friend of mine they are a great band but I've also had the amazing pleasure of seeing Derek when he was playing with Eric Clapton and his band
Yes....He is very unique..he plays in a slide tuning finger style.very creative and in the moment.cant say I have ever heard anyone else sound like him...He is living his dream...
He is also listen to a lot of different kinds of music especially Indian music and you can hear it in his tunings voicings and the way he plays although he is definitely not limited to that he is very creative and talented
It’s actually harder to play with a pick in a lot of ways, and you can hybrid pick. And no finger picker can thrash n chug nor sound like a fantastic flat picking bluegrass player without getting jacked up in the mix. So maybe just do it all man. Enough with this purist nonsense. It’s no longer pure once you amplify the guitar with pickups and a tube amp. But yes, he’s definitely an all timer for sure.
You want a GREAT Derek solo? Listen to 3:09 to 4:11 of the video of TTB covering Clapton’s song Any Day. That is a good solo. His fascination with single string runs where a different scales is played going up than going down, like in the above video, is not as fun from a pure blues rock perspective. An example of how musicians need to take personal, jazz like journeys to stay interested and connected to their instruments, imo.
I heard MUCH better solos from Derek. This isn’t even in the top 20. Sorry. Interesting but just a bunch of short phrases played one after the other. Meh. Prefer his sound on the SG by long shot too. This is to noisy, imo.
@@cactu5jack Bro, I will call it as I see it. Listen to his first solo in Anyday, the one without a slide if you want a good one. He plays plenty of them, this one isn’t one, sorry. That good solo starts at 03:09 in that video.
Derek's playing and tone is just sooo beautiful!
Indeed absolutely incredible. No scalerunning but melodies and rhythm at its best. Keep on Derek!!!
I’m just shocked he’s not playing his SG. He’s smiling now. Nice seeing someone so talented enjoy the gift he’s been givin
Right? Usually he shows no emotion at at all, even when he's blowing our $hit away!😊
@@brianwells4507Couldn’t of Said it better Brian. Have a great Monday.
The 335 he's playing has an alternate open D tuning - not open E like his SG.
He plays this 335 guitar just for this song pasaquan
Great guitarist , living legend, please never stop!

I was thinking what a wonderful influence skydog was on him. ❤❤
No guitar does it better than a Gibson 335 especially in Derek Trucks hands !
He is also listen to a lot of different kinds of music especially Indian music and you can hear it in his tunings voicings and the way he plays although he is definitely not limited to that he is very creative and talented
One of the Best Guitar players ever. All fingers and no pick.

Jimmy herring is the goat Derek is the slide king
Let's just hope for a complete recovery for Jimmy!! No Panic. No good.
Is this from a song they’ve recorded or is this just a loose jam at a show?
Way better than a Corey Feldman guitar solo.
Indian influence.
Sorry, his solo on Darling Be Home Soon is better.

Bro stop trashing Derek's performance wtf

I can do better
Putz😅
Post it.
you can't
This is far from being the best 😂 this is Steven Seagal level.
You know nothing, Jon Snow.
i like the drummer playing 'in the song' and not over it like so many smash and bashers.
