I’ve lived in Central TX since I was 10 yrs old, moved here in 1976. I wasn’t watching Texas Bucket List back when this aired, but I do now. I heard about this place, and now it’s on MY bucket list. Weekend after next I’m headed up there with a buddy and we’re gonna check it out! Better late than never!
Been eating at Herd's since around 1977. They never get old, even back when I was eating one every day. Never had a burger that I thought was better than a Herd's burger.
Stop in all the time going to the deer lease, my son says best burger ever. I get one to go and finish before I get back to the highway! Delicious!! Reach into the old-time cooler and grab your own drink, pull some chips from the rack! Not exactly sure why the burgers are so good but they sure are!
blazejon....you have lived a very sheltered life. The restaurant is not "trashed", it is "well established". Not too many burger's are made this authentic anymore. I'm 67 and have eaten at a lot of places and this looks like "home". You can see the "love" in the owner's faces.
@@bluegrassrules9967 If that's "love" you can keep it. I'd rather have my food stored, prepped and made in a clean environment as opposed to the nostalgic idea of 'authentic.' Yes I own a franchise and could never serve the public in our community if our facilities were in such disorder.
blazejon - Good, stay home. More for the rest of us. I've been eating these burgers since about 1977 and never had an issue. My favorite burger period.
It's not trashy. Actually the place is clean. The walls hold the signatures of everyone who has ever entered through the doors. This is a small place, not really a eat in place. There are benches that line the walls and tables out side. Menu consist of it's burgers, chips and sodas. Stop by, give them a try. Don't forget to write your name on the wall as well. Think you will like it.
Very awesome how This man cares about his family and his customers. I hope it remains in the family and in operation another 100 years!!!!
Bro the fact that it's a 100 year old family restaurant, talks about the values in that family. God bless this joint and the generations to come.
Exactly !!!
I enjoy watching Texas Bucket List
I grew up in Jacksboro and every Sunday after church my grandmother would take us to Herds. Some of the best memories of my life!!

My Death Row final meal would be a Herd’s double meat-double cheese, a bag of Lay’s potato chips, and an ice cold beer. Take me Lord, I’m ready!!! 🤘😎🤘

Hand made...and not dry meat would do that hater.

It’s a 4 hour drive! 😓
It's pretty much a whataburger lol
Aww
Why do Texan's avoid ketchup on their burgers? It's always mustard; maybe mayo.
Those burgers don't need ketchup! Just a few jalapenos!
Real Texas men don't cry
Men cry period

I'm srry but the restaurant looks a little trashed. Doesn't look too appetizing.
