Mikel Arteta, on the 4th of February against Liverpool, made a MASSIVE tweak to his system, which played a huge part in a dominant 3-1 win over the current league leaders-keeping the title race alive. We've known Arsenal to typically set up in a 4-3-3 with inverted wing-backs and 5 attackers occupying defences. But, there was a HUGE change in midfield! So, what exactly was different?
Creating THE or A perfect tactic in #FM24 can be challenging, but in this Football Manager 2024 video, I break down how I created Mikel Arteta's NEW 4-2-3-1 Football Manager tactic! We tested this at Arsenal.

Oh how I love you being back in full flow! Pure quality this. Ever since Arteta has a quality side able to perform his ideas on the pitch, i’m starting to believe more and more that Arteta is a absolute tactical genius. Pep has always tagged him being one, and rightfully so imo.
On another note, what was your PPDA number at the end of the season? (just curious because i still feel pressing is a bit broken this game 😅)
Yeah the pressing is still feels a bit wonky. I think it was 4.4, something like that. But then, nearly all clubs had 4.something 😅 at one stage, Crystal Palace had the lowest (best) PPDA and I’m sure they’re a low block team on FM lol
@@RDFTactics Yeah my point exactly 😅 The way of measuring it is just way off and not in line with irl measurements unfortunately. Trying to be a succesfull high pressing side isn’t to be seen in the numbers this way
would love to see Philippe Clement tactic, we were 8 points behind celtic when Beale got sacked, looked like we were gonna get knocked out of Europa League, now into the knockout stages, won the league cup, in the quarters of the scottish cup and now joint top of the league, had 43 shots in the game tonight, 23 shots on target - Clement is working miracles with a weak squad

Yeah he was in the EPL haha (near post in swinger corner - there’s a preset). But the team was also heavily rotated. Saka should’ve scored more I think but other than that, i was rotating Martinelli, Trossard, Nketiah, Jesus, Odegaard, Havertz, ESR and Fabio Vieira a lot. So by end of the season, the goals were mixed around. We scored over 100 in the league, they were flying in from everywhere

Not sure if people know this but if you keep track of match momentum changes, you'll know who's highlight it is. If it increases in your favour before a highlight, it's yours. Of course, the opposite also applies

The tactic looks amazing! Based on the tactics, DLP will be the more defensive roles whereas the DM will be the more "balance/ attacking" role? Which role can bring out the best of Declan Rice in your opinion?
Mikel Arteta has actually come a long why i remember when the pundits said he was the 2nd worst manager in the league .Now they are forced to watch in awe of his genius.

He doest act as central back in 3 man defence, but like fullback.

How do I get the 'Close Down More' when setting AM
You’ll have to reduce your teams pressing bar to the middle. Then go back to your players instructions and then you should be able to increase his pressing. Don’t forget to go back to your teams pressing bar and putting it back up

I’d say yes, but make sure the DLP is on defend and defence line on very high
