After all these years, despite having read about the interesting bits regarding the game on occasion, I don't recall actually watching a proper review of this game. This was very enjoyable to watch, especially after seeing all the little problems during its creation on Twitter beforehand. I hope to see more in the future soon.
You gave me a bit to think about. it will be a while before I give this a go, but now i will be thinking about this one. Also it is good to see you back.
Personally, I really liked this game, and this was AFTER playing the entire Mass Effect Trilogy, which let's be honest, the gameplay is exactly the same as ME2 & ME3, however, since this game runs on a slightly newer version on Unreal Engine 3, there are some environments that look better than in Mass Effect 3, such as additional GodRays being visible in the outside levels, and higher details in some environmental aesthetics, but all in all, yes, it is a late 360/PS3 game, but one that I enjoyed and personally wish wouldn't get that much hate for it (after Mass Effect games and Gears of War, you'd assume I'd be tired of this Third-Person Squad Based Gameplay Style, but with Xcom Declassified, I wasn't, and I do hope that it will (re)-trend one day. Also, I never experienced the bugs that you are experiencing, nor the Nvidia Physx frame drop, and I played the PC version of this back in 2013, so at least that version should still work flawlessly today.
15:22 Republic Commando has a single use button that does literally everything depending on what you're looking at. Man, I miss Squad based shooters like Republic Commando. Shame we never got a sequel to it or a proper Battlefront 3.
Funny, just bought it on a whim and played it with very little context. It reminded me of the original Mass Effect with the tectical squad mechanics. The story is quite different from traditional Xcom games as well
I’ll probably check this game out the next Steam sale to see if it’s any good. Too bad there’s no mods for Enemy Unknown or Xcom 2 that rips the assets from this game and reimagines it as a proper Xcom title. Unfortunately, there seem to be limitations with mods because I haven’t seen any massive overhauls like that. It would also be nice if some crazy person were to come along and remake this in OpenXcom.
Just finished the bureau and its dlc campagn. It's even better than I remember it was! Can't recommend enough! The trick for me was to focus on additional healing (the healing drone, perks for less cooldown time) and extra ammo capacity (that one backpack) and the final missions were not that bad.
17:51 For contrast I'd say Republic Commando's difficulty depends on if one ot more B2s are advancing on your position. That game legitimately make those things terrifying, 10/10 but I digress. Another big contributing factor in Republic Commando's difficulty is positioning and using your brain in most cases. Sure Spider Droids and Droidekas are a threat but with proper positioning and tactics they're easy enough to deal with. B2s meanwhile just EAT everything you can throw at them while slowly walking at you, they are the embodiment of the term Bullet Sponge.
I remember I finished the mass effect trilogy back then and wanted something similar and found the bureau, and rly liked it. I just never could finish it because I got stuck on one of the last missions on the alian planet. Still not sure if I was just too bad at the game, or I was not prepared enough, or I missed something important… maybe I give it a try again.
I'm Currently replaying this game for the first time since I picked up my preorder day 1. It's decent, but it's very obviously a reach at putting their name into the "cover shooter" genre trend of the time
like sorry I dont think you can really say no one cares about turn based games anymore, when BG3 is one of the most beloved and successful games of all time
There was a sizeable group of people who said they wouldn't play BG3 specifically because it was turn based. My intro segment was written while that discourse was still fresh.
As a casual gamer who cares mainly about the story, I really liked this game.

Interestingly the visual aspect of this game felt the most satisfying, and somehow I liked the monotonous alien architecture.

Rest in Peace to the real Cheems.

15:01 Like hitting a Mountain with a full broadside because someone on an artillery piece on said mountain put a round through your ship's deck.

Hey hey Cheems, good to see ya again!

Good video Cheems, I might pick up this game next time it goes on sale
I want more games that use a command mode style of sqad control.
14:49 So, Flanking actually serves a purpose here beyond making it easier to hit an enemy? Neat.
15:47 Ah, I can see how that would be a problem.
8:39 It's like using a SWEP that doesn't work with your playermodel...
Just found out your twitter account have been suspended, i didn't know 😢
A fair review of the game.
17:11 At that point the GAME wants you dead.
6:54 If this had a Piss Yellow filter on it I'd say you were playing Resistance 2...
20:03 Ah, the Brotherhood's Synth who Hates Synths. Honestly Fallout 4 should have cooked a bit longer...
Oh well, at least Synths aren't Mer.
7:11 Nothing to write home about in the end, most started to become samey at this time of that Console generation.
11:09 It's no Medal of Honor is what you're saying, right?
20:28 Doctor Weir? Oh no...
12:32 This is... Awkward... Like imagine Independence Day like this...
8:11 Dear God her face...
I enjoyed it yes it was a shooter and it was special

Shame you get so little views.
He stepped away from the fan boy content. He knew it would hurt his growth, but did it for his own personal well being. That shit just gets toxic fast

@@CheemsofRegret sounds like your premise was just wrong then. idk maybe just dont shit on an entire genre of games for no reason
