Hello Jim, my compliments to Your videos and course. When You gave an example with 3 km long copper wire it seems You made a mistake in calculations,A=50x 10^-4 m^2 and the R to be 16 mOm.

Check the area calculation again. 8mm = .008m which yields an area of .0000503 m^2 or 50.3^--6 m^2.
