      ALPINE MUSH hello. I would like to make fun of your comment by nitpicking it in an attempt at humor.
      “You’re the only person in the whole YT comments section that got hung up on something so minor and took it so personally. Comments like yours are so weirdly dumb and rude that I can never tell if they are real or not.”
      You first stated that they are the ONLY person in the TH-cam comment section to make stupid comments like theirs. Then, in the sentence immediately following, you state that COMMENTS LIKE HIS are weirdly dumb. You contradicted yourself by stating they are one of a kind in their stupidity, and then saying that there are comments like his that share in his stupidity. This concludes my nitpicking. I do hope that you do not take this extremely minor comment extremely personally, lest you become one of those people sharing in Jada Jada’s stupidity.
      (I’m speaking really formally because I thought it would be funnier that way)

  • @mathildataufmann9363
    @mathildataufmann9363 4 ปีที่แล้ว +993

    I really love that he included "happiness is a sign of intelligence", and in the comments I only see people talking about depression and anxiety as signs of intelligence. Regardless of whether or not that is true, I think that so many people, especially very intelligent, creative, and depressed people, refuse to get help because they think that becoming happier will make them lose their genius (Amy Winehouse come to mind), and this is not true. Mental illness is a SIGN of intelligence/creativity, but somewhat counterintuitively, also a roadblock for intelligence/creativity. Many brilliant people are depressed, but depression doesn't make you smart, and you will be freer to express your creativity if you get help. So don't think being you have to be anxious to be smart, smart people are anxious and it prohibits them from sharing their smart-ness from the world!

    • @kilililian1439
      @kilililian1439 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree with most of what you said except that mental illness is a sign of intelligence. As far a sI know there are quite a few mental illnesses where afflicted people tend to be less intelligent. It might be true for the specific ones you mentioned because anxiety and depression do have a lot to do with overthinking so it definitley would make sense that there at least is some sort of correlation but I think if anything I'd say intelligent and creative people have a relatively high risk to get anxiety/depression rather than those being a sign for it.

    "Most people are only thinking about themselves...If you're ever worried people are thinking about you, talking about you, looking at you. They're probably not." THIS IS LITERALLY AN AXIOM OF PERFORMING ARTS. People are very selfish and your failures are only ever trivial to them unless you actively hurt them. Going up on stage and making yourself vulnerable through honesty only ever has two real results; people connect with your expression and respect you, or they don't care. We are all too self conscious because we just don't get that nobody cares nearly as much as we think they do.

    Every time I feel down and stupid I come here to watch John Mulany telling me that depression and anxiety are signs of intelligence, also I love his incredibly specific advices

    what you would expect John Mulaney to say: I’m so proud of you guys!
    John Mulaney: You’ll get crumbs at your feet.

    Thank you John, I personally really needed this and only wish that I had seen this sooner. This was such a weird year to graduate in.

    Hated HS Graduation. Skipped College graduation even though skipping it cost more $ than attending. Money well-spent. This year, grads have a unique story.

    Thanks John I really needed this graduation speech. Oh but you might be thinking didn't you graduate from college in 2015? (it was supposed to be 2014 but I took a year off to work but you knew this because we're best friends) Well I'll still need this speech every day of my life. So thank you tall child.

    This video IS way better, John. I don't know if you're reading any of these, but had I had a graduation this year for my bachelor's, I was going to put a quote from and picture of you on my cap, but this is a pretty amazing stand-in for that!
