    Read mere Christianity

    So you missed why that old man was talking with Matthew--He was one of the shepherds in The Shepherd movie. He took on the debt of his whole family. He is kind of a Jesus figure. And when he spoke of his death he said he would be meeting his Messiah again. This shepherd saw Jesus at His birth in the movie.

      It’s strange to me that I picked up on this right away. To think that after all the years that passed since he first saw the Messiah as an infant that the Holy Spirit would guide him to witness to Matthew is a real testament to how our Heavenly Father works all things according to the counsel of His own will. May the Lord so use we who have believed in His Son in this manner. Good work Chosen 👍👍👍

    Really love how Andrew's the one comforting Phillip now. He started this season so anxious he didn't know what to do. After the Sermon and hearing Jesus say "Do not be anxious about your life", he really took it to heart and surrendered to Him. As someone who struggles with anxiety, Andrew's such an inspiration.

    Mary's conversation with Matthew was so powerful; "Our lives are often painful, yes?" For me, this was the highlight of this episode; among all the outstanding moments. Thank you for your reactions to The Chosen; the commentaries are enlightening, filling in the gaps of my understanding.

    Phillip says "Hades", and Gaius in the cistern repair scene says "Styx" at one point 😂.
    Thanks especially for the information and link to Jesus with Benjamin's naming. Thx also for the insight about the exclusivity of use for the word "mute". Had Deaf Christian friends many years ago that had the word "Ephphatha!" framed and hung in their living room with the scripture beneath from the New Testament. It is likely the first voice they will hear will be Yeshua's also.

    The miracle of healing the mute and deaf man was even more special than at first glance. This man had not ever heard the spoken word much less speak it, but Jesus not only healed him, He made it so this man understood the words and could speak them! To me, that is the miracle. Praise be the name of the Lord!

    I love the Gaius storyline. He's evolving so beautifully. In the episode where the zealots were after Zee and Jesus had been healing, he stepped in to defend Jesus under cover of keeping Roman order. I can't wait to see Gaius in season 4!

    • @a.edwards3064
      @a.edwards3064 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same here! I think he is most likely portraying the Roman centurion in the Bible who asked Jesus to heal his servant but didn't require him to even come into his home to do so - he said "I don't deserve to have you come under my roof, but just say the word". In The Chosen it's not a servant, but his son (or as he originally said, the son of his former servant who died in childbirth). I knew from the beginning the way Gaius interacted with Matthew that he was never a bad guy at heart. It's interesting to see him evolve this way.

    I think it's cool that so many people in traditional mainstream Christian denominations were exposed to an actual Purim celebration. I thought it was so cool when my wife and I first started attending a Messianic Synagogue in 2015-16 (Recovering Baptist here.). I knew what Purim was from reading the Bible, but had never "Seen" it celebrated, never had noise makers handed to me, and had no clue what a "Hamen's Hat" was and had never seen the play put on. It was great.
    I like the way that The Chosen shows these celebrations of God's Holy Days that mainly get "Glossed Over" in the mainstream denominations as being a "Jewish Thing". I know that I learned that I had been missing out on so much for the 55 previous years of my life
    .
    Thanks for posting this.

    Man! , You guys made me wait soooooo long!!!!! You have become my most favorite TH-camrs regarding The Chosen in particular and any other stuff you put out becomes a must watch! I am a bible nerd, historical geek and you bring both together so beautifully. For example, do know know how many times I rewound that one particular part of the show, where Zeb was about to give Peter a whopping? I just couldn't make out that word, and no wonder! It meant his circumcision day! That's part of why I like the show. To get the full benefit, you have to dig deeper. There's a scripture that talks about that. You make the show so much deeper to me. A million thanks for you guys!!!!!! BTW,Whenis episode 8 commentary coming out? Also, I would personally sit thru every minute of each episode just to hear your comments.
    On another note, I desperately wanted to join your online bible school but being in a country where the exchange rate is 160:1, it was not possible. If you guys ever want to give out scholarships to third world countries, look me up! Thanks guys.

      Yes, when I was a child in Methodist Sunday school in the 1960s, one of the activities they had us do was make a paper mezuza and hang it on our door. Our church building was the meeting place of the local Jewish congregation, and they had Passover and Purim celebrations to which they invited us. I thought every kid who went to Sunday school would know that Jesus was Jewish.

      @@martaupward5992 Dr Tom and the team clearly put in a great many hours of work creating the teaching videos, and the wonderfully organized notes for each of the 15 classes within the course, and the clear graphics. While I appreciate those details, mostly, I love Dr Tom’s heart that comes through often.
      I also appreciated the 5 weekly Q&A sessions, and the small group. I liked the extended time the final week. It has done what any good teaching should do, had me in The Book reading and searching, praying and listening to the Spirit of truth, discussing it with others I respect. I am not convinced of every premise laid out, but that is okay. We all were there to learn and we all love the Creator who redeemed those who believe in faith. Eternity awaits, as we walk out our giftings this side of heaven to share the need, and the Cure, with those we meet, and encourage the family of God as we are able.

    I love this episode of Grafted! I have a question. Tom told us that for 1800 years, the snails were abundant. But they disappeared. Then. 100 years ago, they reappeared. Where did the snails go when they disappeared? 🤔

      This is part of the mystery! No one was able to find them during that time in between. There may have been some but not enough to be found by people who were looking. Then, suddenly they were found again!

    I'm an RN - and I'm curious about the specific references to "disinfecting the wound". I thought Pasteur (how many hundreds of years after this) was the one who discovered "the science" which would lead to this knowledge and language.............How did the "historical context" guys miss this?

    • @jnastally196
      @jnastally196 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn't missed. There have been knowledge of healing medicines as disinfectants throughout history. Egyptians had bleach. Native Americans had resins and savs. There are several medicines mentioned and cleansers in the Bible. The Bible mentions myrrh which has cleansing properties and God himself teaches how to make lye soap. Not just these, these are what I can think of from the top of my head. There are examples from China too. And let's not forget alcohol. Some of our world knowledge has been lost over time, and sadly, we don't know our Bibles because we have been stuck in the front of the book and not reading the whole thing. Louis Pasteur definitely made contributions to medical science, but he was not first.

    The def mute: When he hears and speaks for the first time it is Yeshua who he hears and speaks to. I also see Adam. When Adam was created, the first thing he sees, hears and speaks to is God/Yeshua. Powerful! Just got that connection.

    Simon (Peter) has lost a child and almost his wife as well.
    Yet, he still has faith, angry, disappointed yet still Loves Yeshua.... like Job did......just as 6 million Jews did loved and prayed to GOD. I understand Simon.

    The thing you said in 22:25 really hit me! As I‘m from Germany and in history class we extensively learned about WWII and the Nazis I got reminded of how some churches and Germans who claimed to be Christians supported the Nazis and their ideas. The more you think about it, the less sense it makes. The Bible and the authors are heavily influenced by Judaism, one doesn’t even need to be no scholar or genius to notice this. Heck, Jesus himself was a Jew, so would they have turned a blind eye to Jesus being persecuted and bad things you can’t name happen to him while calling yourself a Christian?

    I have a question for you... I have a good friend who is a part of gentile Messianic synagogue and believer and she has spent alot of time talking about how we, Christian's, read and understand the scriptures in a Greek mindset and we should change that as God meant for us to read and understand his word from an Hebraic mindset instead. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this idea. I'm not convinced it's not partially true as I find learning about my Jewish saviour's history expanding my idea of Him and my faith. However, I know several of the new testament if not most books were written in Greek. The festival or feast celebrations are so removed from our understanding in mainstream "christianity" I wonder if the messianic movement isn't yet another "denomination". Please don't hear any disrespect I truly long for all believers of Yeshua to be of one voice praising God the Father, his son Yeshua and the works of the holy Spirit in our lives. May God richly bless your ministry.
