One thing I really liked about this episode was, despite how angry Simon was, he was the only disciple who didn't question that Jesus could feed the multitude.

Also, every other disciple thought he was nuts for getting out of the boat, and Simon knew Jesus could hold him up. Of course, that was the reason for the anger. He understands and wholeheartedly believes that Jesus could have healed Eden and doesn’t understand why he didn’t.

Jesus, peace be upon him, can do nothing
Except by the power of God
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me. (John 5:30).
My friends, whoever tells you that Jesus is God has deceived you
Jesus said there is only one true God
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3).

I had the honor of getting to be one of those 10,000+ plus extras that sat in the crowd while filming. I can confirm that it was extremely hard to hear what Jonathan (the actor who plays Jesus) was saying, even when he was speaking loudly.
It felt so real to sit there and be part of recreating this story and miracle. It was an experience that I will never forget.

The Feeding of the 5000 was an amazing experience that I will never forget. During the filming, when Jonathan held up the bread, there was total silence except for birds chirping. That moment was spiritually overwhelming. I know I was not the only one with an audible gasp.
Yes, we all knew it was the actor and not Jesus, but there were so many believers gathered, God's presence was felt.

Yet, Simon was the only one to get out of the boat! Love, love, love Simon! Anger is hurt and disappointment trying to find release. Though I'm not male, I can't say enough how much I relate to him and love his faith and desire to serve our Lord , and even when he failed, he lived the rest of his life for Jesus even unto death.

In the boat he said to Simon, "I let people go hunger and then I feed them" A throwback to the miracle that he just did when he said to the crowd" "I have kept you here all this time giving you spiritual food but you clearly need actual food now". He is the hunger, He is the food. Love it!

Because of much abuse in my life I can understand the anger Simon has. I spent my childhood quite angry with God myself and through many miracles I learned how much God loves His children. This story plot and the walking on the water and what Jesus says to Simon tugs at my heartstrings. I have watched this episode many many times. It's my all time favorite one of all 3 seasons.

I love how they blended Simon's relationship with his wife and the trouble they're going through with the walking on the water scene. And it's almost easy to be upset at Simon for feeling the way he does but also understanding how he could feel angry. It was heart-wrenching to understand his pain and his feelings toward it all. It never felt like he lost faith at all but it seemed he felt slighted in some way. How they played it all together in the end with Eden's purification with Simon walking on the water with Jesus pulling him up.... Wow!
I appreciate you guys doing this after every episode I absolutely look forward to it. I've been waiting for this one for so long lol

You know what really struck me after watching the walking on water scene was that Jesus could have calmed the storm at any point before He got into the boat. That He waited until He and Simon Peter were in the boat shows that He wanted the disciples (and us) to learn a bigger lesson.

Peter the one who would walk on water, the one who would want to build a shelter for the three. The belief and the passion were there, but the trust that comes with perspective was not yet there either on the mountain or on the water, or after having being sent by two's. His perspective changed with Pentecost. The same perspective for us now, today.

Ah man, you skipped over the Shmuel and Jesus scene! I’m really interested to see how Shmuel develops after this. He definitely looked like he was softening.
I couldn’t stop crying when I watched the walking on water scene. That imagery when Jesus reaches down into the water to pull Simon Peter back up. And Simon’s crying and saying he was sorry…that hit me pretty hard.

The storms of Galilee are kinda infamous. Because the cold air comes down off of the mountainsides around the lake and clashes with the warmer air, and will literally create full blown storms seemingly out of nowhere with massive swells in the water. So a story about being on the SoG during a storm would resonate with people the same way a story about driving through Death Valley with a broken air conditioner would connect to anyone who’s driven through it, which I have done 🥵🥵

It's so true! A person in need often doesn't know what they need! I completely agree. As a mother of six children and lost six others I can attest that I didn't know what I needed but I really did need the presence and friends reaching out and bringing food. It was showing me that I was not alone. And also, yes, don't stay three hours. Grieving people often need space to grieve.

“Shortly before dawn, Jesus went out to them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking towards them across the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!!!” they shrieked, and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I! Don’t be afraid!”
“Lord... if it’s you...” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
    “Come” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But Peter took his eyes off Jesus and when he saw the wind and the waves he was afraid and all at once he began to sink and he cried out in a panic “Lord! save me!!!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him and pulled him up. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
And when they climbed into the boat, the wind and the waves died down and the sea was suddenly calm. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God!”

Simon is a "raw, very real". He's struggling with how Yeshua healed other people around, but he and Eden is there and he could not save their unborn! We do feel at times as if He doesn't care about us. As Tom says He is the God of the storm - basically He can calm the storms in our lives, He has the controls, He "has His Hands on the Thermostat" per se, let's keep trusting in Him and continue to Turn Our Eyes upon Him! 🙏

I really enjoy your reactions to the episodes - it is great the way you help us to reconnected to the Jewish roots of the gospels. However, I was surprised that you did not comment on my favourite moment - when John sees Jesus coming on the clouds - but none of the others see Him . Such an amazing touch - referencing John's writing of the Book of Revelation and why he is the 'Beloved Disciple'. I guess that it had more impact on me than most others. The Chosen has helped me see that, much as I can identify with many of the disciples, that John is my favourite.

When I lived in Memphis, I got a chance to visit Beale Street (during the day). At one end, there was a blues band, 8 white guys, yuppies, who did a great job. They had practiced, were polished and were recording-ready. At the other end of the block was a three-man band. One looked like Willie Nelson, while the other two were black. They looked like they had just been released from prison after 40 years, or had spent the night in an alley-way down by the docks. They were slightly off-key, didn't hit every note or word, and their music had more flow than structure. They were playing the BLUES. Guess where the crowd was? Listening to the three guys. Not because their music or their lives were perfect, but because their music and their lives matched.
When I read the Psalms, I get the same impression. David poured out everything before the LORD, good and bad alike, and, as he put it, wept until his bones were dry. And his musicians followed suite. So yes, the Psalms are great example of how to write poetry and music.
And in the same way, the Chosen TV series is similar. It's not perfect, and it's not trying to be. It's trying to be honest, and portray pain and joy as we experience it, and as God addresses it through His Son and our Savior, Christ Jesus.

35:19 Benedictine monks pray the Psalms as well. They pray Matins at Midnight, Lauds at 3 in the morning, Prime at 6, Terce at 9, Sext at noon, None at 3 in the afternoon, Vespers in the evening, and Compline before going to bed. Note, these are subject to change depending on which Benedictine monastery you are at.

Mikveh is very appropriate for new seasons or new beginnings or going from one state to another. For Orthodox men, many will do mikveh daily or especially on Friday before shabbat specifically for the spiritual mitzvah (good dead) that is it for the person's soul. A groom and bride will often go to mikveh before the wedding.

Goose comes from Anglo Saxon, while horse comes from Latin by way of Old English and moose comes from Algonquin , hence the different plurals.
According to Grammarly The plural of fish is usually fish. When referring to more than one species of fish, especially in a scientific context, you can use fishes as the plural.

My daughter was baptized when she was nine, but at age 19 she was baptized again, and it marked a recommitment after years of just going through the motions. She said it wasn't necessary for her heart change, but it felt like an action she could more tangibly relate to than the one years ago.

When people have brought us food its been some of the times I've felt the most isolated. People would bring food say something meaningless and leave. I understand that they might have been doing their best but it wasn't enough. Almost never did people spend time with us. We were spending so much time just dealing with hospitals, drs, nurses and paramedics. So so so utterly isolated from community. The pandemic was almost, no it actually was a relief, from all those superficial social interactions.
Now we have a lady that brings us a meal per week and she spends time with us. She chats. She has developed a relationship with us rather than just having us feel like a recipient of charity.
Now I don't criticise peoples efforts. They were trying to help but what they were doing, or rather the way they were doing it, wasn't helping. Helping people dealing with grief and trauma is so hard because so often no one knows what people need including them. It takes time, effort and patience.

Brother Perry Stone shared something he learned from a Rabi about the whole "ghost" superstition Jewish tradition had. He said that in Jewish tradition/superstition it was believed that if fishermen saw a "ghost" on the water, then, their ship was going to sink. So, knowing this "superstition", Peter is like, probably thinking, "If this ship is going down, then, I'll be safer ON THE WATER THAN IN THE SHIP!" Lol. Also, Brother Perry Stone said this, "But what if that wasn't Jesus on the water when they yelled out, "Jesus, is that You?" What if it had actually been some type of "spirit"?" Now, knowing about the superstition, it puts Peter in a whole new light of him NOT wanting to be on a sinking ship with the rest of the disciples. Lol. Just something to think about.

We have forgotten that this are real people, dealing with emotions and problems in their daily lives, even thou some parts are added, the struggles that they face in those times are still felt till this day. We are Humans, we are weak in the sense that our needs are not just from physical rest and food but also from our relationship with our God. Our Lord is perfectly Holy, and He needs our genuine allegiance on those times that we are burden by difficulties in our lives, to rely to Him and praise God in pain and suffering. In the end our life here on earth will pale to what He has prepared to those who love Him. Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ forever, Amen!!

I remember meditating on eat this scroll in Ezekiel 3 and then on worthy to open the scroll in Revelation 5. Today both of you shared eating the scrolls with the psalms! I was able to connect that to the consuming of the little scroll in Revelation 10. It points out the special way David had access to these divine revelations just as John did. It shows that they were granted access to God's knowledge, which, when translated into visions, allows others to participate in this intimacy. Thank you both so much for this 💗understanding !
