My Indian in-laws fly for the first time - Travelling from Jaipur to Delhi to Kerala

- One main reason why we travelled to Jaipur was to go get my in-laws to Kerala to stay with us during my last trimester and post-delivery. My husband's parents had never taken a flight before, or even been to an airport, so it was completely natural they were nervous about flying, especially during these Covid times. We as experienced travellers wanted to be there to take care of the parents and show how things are done to avoid any unnecessary anxiety. It was also Mommy and Daddy's first time coming to Kerala, so we really wanted to witness their first impressions too! Over all, we had quite the pleasant journey all the way from driving from Jaipur to Delhi, shopping and eating at Delhi airport and finally arriving to Kannur. And don't even get me started on the spectacular views during the Air India flight!

I wouldn't necessarily be very comfortable with joint family living all year round indefinitely (our own houses next to each other would be okay though! :D), but we both missed family a lot last year and I'm beyond grateful to have Mommy and Daddy stay with us here and help during my last trimester and post-delivery :)

Johanna, I loved this video! It was especially lovely to see the enthusiasm of Mom & Dad looking out the window after take-off from Delhi and flying into Kerala. I’m a Malayali in the US and every time I fly into Kerala (Kochi) and see our beautiful coastline, powerful emotions/joy fills my heart.
Because of health issues, I can no longer travel to my beloved Kerala (last time was in 2009). I appreciate the views out of the plane window- made me feel good. Thanks Johanna & Vinod.
The views from air both taking off and arriving in Kerala are spectacular indeed! Must be my favourite flight landscape in India :) And I know the feeling you describe as it's of course the same sense of both joy and calm for me when I'm landing in Finland :) Really happy you got to experience a little bit of that from my video

I'm super lucky with my in-laws because they're extraordinary, adjusting/understanding people, who don't try to force religious rituals or all the chores on me. And as they are accepting of me as the person I am, it's also easy for me to show the natural care and respect I have for them :)

The classical background music in Kerala airport and towards the end were good. You can have a signature Carnatic music tune … my recommendation is to go for minute of royalty free nadhaswaram music to start your vlog. You can also play a minute of Finnish classical instruments.

wow the airport is totally changed since I have been there. Looks nice and better.
I think they did some repair work around 3-4 years ago! Can't remember the exact time, but do remember all the work being done there when I was travelling a lot :)

So Johanna dear...you went through this long journey during covid time, while pregnant so you can bring your in laws as mommy was nervous about flying..? Our parents have flown here from India by themselves, with limited English! Kudos to you and love how you were constantly checking on mommy for her comfort! And yes, she seems very sweet likable person.
Flights and airports were crowded but you made it all safe home with good memories recorded. they still serve food on flights?.. here we are only getting peanuts🙄

Well, being there for my in-laws on their first flight and travel to Kerala during Covid was just one main reason. The second was that I had to anyways visit Delhi to apply for my new passport. I wouldn't have been able to travel without Vinod's help even in November, so we thought we'd kill to birds with one stone and use some of his leave quota to go to Jaipur and get both of these things done :) And also get a bit of a vacation as he had had none last year!
I gotta say, I would've rather had peanuts :D I don't like that pretty much all they serve is just wheat and sugar. I was a bit surprised too that they we're serving these same snacks on both our flights as I remember you advising me earlier that there might be no food!
I'm hooked on the Trump news too, but let's take a little break from that on Sunday! See you then, Shreya

First time travelling by air is always a nervousness cause we don't know how the experience of flying will be. Could see that on the faces of mom and dad and could identify with them as I too have gone through all this. It's now after taking more than almost 80 odd flights I feel comfortable now. Mom and dad are very cute love them. I wish them all the very best for their stay in Kerala and i am sure they will enjoy their stay in Kerala and also explore Kerala with Johana and Vinod by their side
I'm still nervous even with those 80 or something flights under my belt :D Which is funny because during my first flights back in the day I was only excited. But I think that helped mommy too, to see that even though I've travelled a lot I can still feel uncomfortable, but nothing really ever happens :) And you'll get to see some vlogs about our life in Kerala soon!

I think it's important to remember we have many firsts throughout our whole life all the way to our old age :) Always something to be excited about and learn! And it's important to cherish those not only in childhood
