India, domestic flights, the land of surprises. Twice I had a 6AM flight scheduled and when arriving at the airport at 4:15 AM finding out they preponed the flight that was leaving 4:30....
Hi Noel, just watched your security experience in Delhi. Have you flown in or out of Ben-Gurion airport? We lived in India, Pakistan, Sweden, Manila, Amman, Tel Aviv, Bridgetown, Bucharest, Sarajevo, Montreal, Damascus, Mauritania and Montenegro during our 35 years as Foreign Service personnel. Out of all of those airports, Tel Aviv was the most difficult. Of course, their security is always over the top as it should be but that just means it's really hard to get in or out of the country. I could tell you were steamed! It reminded me of myself many times!!!
I'm with you about the security at Indian Airports Noel, if it was chaotic, it would be a vast improvement !, I did a mega tour of India in January and never experienced stress levels like it, I managed to get on Air India's 1st A350 flight with Mr.Chui and Josh Cahill, I must have shown my boarding pass to every member of staff that day, and when we got to Chennai, I had to show my boarding pass getting OFF the aircraft !!!!, I love India but they need to sort those Airports out.
Yeah, Noel, it has to be said, the airline didn't seem too bad, it was the airport staff who needed slating, and well done for doing it. With regard to the airport security staff, I have to say I've had similar experiences back here in the UK - the Stansted security staff are on a par with what you experienced here. They shout at you while you're standing right in front of them, they're self-important and won't hesitate to a) insult you/make snide comments, and or b) mistreat your belongings, bordering on criminal damage. One guy took my tray with my rucksack in it and dumped it right into my other tray with my two laptops in it potentially breaking both of them, because he was too busy shouting and being important instead of watching what he was doing. It seems power-tripping and disrespecting people and their personal belongings is the only way they can feel good about themselves. Thankfully, ego-tripping cabin crew is in decline and I see a lot less of it now than I used to, but still get the odd case.
Kulu is well known as the home of Nicholas Roerich, the artist, teacher, philosopher and explorer. He launched several Himalayan expeditions from there. If in NYC, go to the Roerich Museum and you will find out more about him and Kulu. and an amazing area for beautiful vegetation. Actually a special place to visit.
Great Video Noel . Tho the day sucked you plowed threw it and ended up with such lovely views . Hopefully you got home shortly after and reunited with the family.
Devastated because of stringent security. You’re a regular traveller, exploring a challenging country and yet you seem fazed by something as trivial as having the contents of your bag tipped into a tray!
I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wouldn't be annoyed if they had the contents of their luggage ejected unceremoniously... Do you really expect everyone to just go along with that? Or to be expected to slip the agent a $20 bill or whatever? I know it cost him some time, but I"m glad he held fast. Honestly, that's probably the thing that annoyed him the most. The fact that he was _expected_ to pay money. Or maybe he didn't even know, idk, but still... What a terrible culture.
No worries about your little rant. I admire how you handle setbacks with aplomb whereas I'd be all bent out of shape. I must admit I was hoping you would not do a Loo Review and you came through with that wish. Best.
Have to agree Noel travelling in India is bitter sweet as they r trying to be western but can’t be western and do make it very difficult for western people to travel I was lucky that my dad is Indian so could argue but without him we probably would not have gone so good on you for doing it 😊
For a video titled "my worst flight" it seems that the flight was quite nice. I agree that there is no reason for staff to be rude. As far as them emptying your bag, India isn't excally known to be the safest country, so I'm all for extra security. And it's not their job to repack your bags for you.. especially when it's busy, they can't be wasting time repacking for you. Is it annoying for passangers? Yes. But I'd rather take an extra 20 minutes to know I'm safe. Also airport security isn't a reflection of an airline. That being said can't wait to see where you bring us along to in 2023. Happy New Year Noel!
Thank you for all the videos you have shared throughout the year, they were great, wishing you all a very 🎉🥳 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023 🎉🥳 hope you are all well, take care, stay safe xx UK 🇬🇧
my first and last flight in 2022 was the best, Kuwait airways terminal 4 to Bangkok Thailand and it was a late time (11:45pm flight time) but everything went smoothly as I arrived around 9pm which was incredible
No problems with you justifiably being a tad annoyed Noel! The thing is that you gave a master class on keeping a lid on it and not taking it out on others! 👍
You should fly to the new airport in Pokhara Nepal. That will blow away anywhere in the world when it comes to beautiful scenery.... Airport seurity in India... Yepp, you're spot on! However, great video!
Hi Noel. At 7:20 there is a guy behind you with a toupe (hairpiece), watching at you on a funny way..if it were a suspense or a triller movie I would say "he is a spy or a hitman" or both jajajajajaj. Huuuuge hugs as usual from Colombia and Happy New Year for you and your family.
The lady with the short white skirt bending over while I was trying to concerntrate you talk made it very difficult as she had a nice pair of legs on her, so for those 3 minutes I haven't the faintest what you said 🤭😋😊
Atlanta Hartsfield had a guy do that to my bag last year. Then they started yelling at me for having to many cords. Then another TSA agent starts yelling at me for taking to long to put everything back. Finally a surpivisor came over to see what was going on. Apologized and told the other agents to go back to work. Sorry I freelance doing A/V work and have to carry a pretty good crash kit.
The approach into Leh (IXL) is the most fantastic in my opinion. You can fly into Leh from Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Srinagar. Hope you try that one day.
Loved the video Noel. It's unusual to see you a bit down in the beak like that. Crazy ride from the airport to the hotel. I wonder what the car insurance premiums are like over there in India? I bet the claims department are kept on their toes!
@@ac9110 There are different kinds of insurance. Third party insurance covers anyone injured by the actions of the driver. This is compulsory almost everywhere. You can also buy third party insurance that pays for damage you cause in an accident in which you are at fault. Then you can buy insurance to cover damage to your own car. People with limited funds often pay for only the compulsory kind. Checking these requirements for India I found: "In India, as per the Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory that all vehicles that operate in any public space must have a motor vehicle insurance cover. Policyholders must have at least 'third party liability' motor insurance cover even when opting for the basic insurance plans." So that's what is mandatory. It doesn't cover dents.
If you want a law against 4:00 am take-offs Noel, Sydney's your spiritual home. From the relevant Act of NSW Parliament: "A curfew period starts at 11 pm on a day and ends at 6 am on the next day. (1) An aircraft must not take off from, or land at, Sydney Airport during a curfew period, unless the take off or landing is permitted under Part 3." So in summer when south-eastern Australia has DST flights to Sydney from Perth can take off at _11:00 pm_ to arrive in Sydney 4 hours later at 6:00 am local time.
When I was a kid, a TSA guy grabbed my box of toy plastic lemurs (he thought it was a metal box but it was just silver plastic) and he threw it and all my toys went all over the place on the ground. Once he saw it wasn't actually metal he made me pick it all up myself and was super rude, and I cried lol. This was in Alaska haha idk what his excuse was. So rude. I'll remember it all my life. To this day I still don't know why he did that. So weird
Been through Delhi many times. When departing, usually subjected to up to five security checks after I was in the terminal. The last is usually 50-75 feet before the boarding desk. Each time I had to totally unpack my carry on . What was going to be added between security check 1 and 5? Just Indian Bureaucracy. Same at the bank or trying to get anything done. Employs a lot of people!
One thing they seem to get right is telling people where the seat numbers are. The amount of people I see on the ATRs not being able to find the seat numbers is increadible.

At 5:40 when the beat kicks in and the lady starts rapping about Alliance Air, it’s kinda fire
Have to agree Noel travelling in India is bitter sweet as they r trying to be western but can’t be western and do make it very difficult for western people to travel I was lucky that my dad is Indian so could argue but without him we probably would not have gone so good on you for doing it 😊
Are you half Indian?
@@meena9942 yes I am my father is a Gujarati from Ahmedabad and my mother is white English
Complain, sigh, “but nevermind”, sigh, complain, sign, “but nevermind”, complain, sign. Repeat.
Oh the suffering, it never starts😂
Bro that Indian guy that was looking at him while he was trash talking the security😂😂😂😂
Thanks Noel, happy new year to you and yours.
Happy new year!
Thanks for all the great videos in 2022
Glad you like them!
Chin up Noel!! 🙂 we ALL have those days we aren’t showing our best side … better days coming, now just you wait and see! -David
Hopefully your hotel was a good experience at least (it looked great!). Thanks and happy new year.
Happy new year!
Never seen you so ticked off. WOW. Glad you have a chance to chill before flying. Nice music. Lovely looking town. Hope you rest well.
I love it when you get a bit pissed off, Ur only human buddy
Sorry to hear about that security line experience. I've flown out of Kolkata thrice, Delhi once, and Mumbai once. Never had a problem.
Happy New year Noel to you and your family
Thanks Noel for the great videos, keep them coming in 2023. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Thanks, you too!
Love the Dunder Mifflin Inc. T-Shirt!
Thank you for all the videos you have shared throughout the year, they were great, wishing you all a very 🎉🥳 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023 🎉🥳 hope you are all well, take care, stay safe xx UK 🇬🇧
Thank you!
That final shot tells me you were lucky there were no flights out. Imagine missing that.
I would have liked a better look around your hotel. It looked lovely
Love the content.. I'm grateful for the honest reviews. And welcome to America.
I appreciate that!
Don't apologise for ranting about security, it shows you're authentic as travelling can be stressful.
my first and last flight in 2022 was the best, Kuwait airways terminal 4 to Bangkok Thailand and it was a late time (11:45pm flight time) but everything went smoothly as I arrived around 9pm which was incredible
No problems with you justifiably being a tad annoyed Noel! The thing is that you gave a master class on keeping a lid on it and not taking it out on others! 👍
Mirinda is a soft drink like Fanta, not orange juice,no offense.
Please tour Pakistan in 2023.
Great video as always.
Keep it up Noel.
Cheers.
Very important
Yikes Noel! 😯 That Air India 🇮🇳 Express flight didn’t look like one I’d like to try! Hopefully the rest of your Indian travels go better!
The approach into Leh (IXL) is the most fantastic in my opinion. You can fly into Leh from Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Srinagar. Hope you try that one day.
Noel, no worries on the rant, you're just showing the real side of travel. Thanks for this and have a happy new year!
Happy New Years to you and your family...Thank you for sharing your flights...
Thank you, I am glad you enjoy them!
You made me laugh with the things in our industry that people deal with.
Happy new year Noel.
That was very tough for you Noel but well done for getting through that as I felt you’re pain 😂
Loved the video Noel. It's unusual to see you a bit down in the beak like that. Crazy ride from the airport to the hotel. I wonder what the car insurance premiums are like over there in India? I bet the claims department are kept on their toes!
That was a _normal_ taxi ride. Insurance? I don't know if they have insurance. From observation, a dented car is a dented car. Cars have dents.
@@rais1953 ah ok, I get you. The Tata Eldente ;-)
Insurance ? 🤔
@@keithphilbin3054 Apparently it's mandatory to have car insurance in India with a 3 month prison sentence if found not to have it?
So weird
Man, it appears that the hotel you booked at HP is a beauty. If it is, that crappy trek from New Delhi to HP is worth it. :)
Noel! How many flights have you taken? Have you kept count can you put a number on it?
Thanks for another great video to bring 2022 to and end, here's looking forward to your weekly dose of AV videos in 2023
Thanks so much!
One thing they seem to get right is telling people where the seat numbers are. The amount of people I see on the ATRs not being able to find the seat numbers is increadible.
Yeah, not the best flight, haha - thanks for the 2022 vlogs Noel they were great 👍
somebody needed to give you a Snickers Noel 🙂
🤣
