@delacruzneili The amp/cab models in multi-effects units are primarily used when you are recording direct to PC via USB. It allows you to simulate having an amp and cab. Some people, me included, use these models as part of their actual tone and just run the unit through their amp's clean channel when playing live. Of course, some of the newer units, the RP500 included, allows you to turn off the amp/cab modeling. This allows you to use them just like normal stompboxes. I hope this helps. :)
Best RP500 tutorial I've seen! Would have like to see demo of the noise gate. I had so much problem with noise from the distorted tone I would use. A band mate suggested I should look into a noise gate but finances were tight and I quit the band to take a job in another state.
Over time, the internal circuits of effects disrupt their original operation. This is often due to changes in room temperature and transportation, as well as a constant power load. If the pedals are 10-15 years old, then most likely some of the original effects will lose their original sound.
its about versatility. if youre doing your own music and are happy with your amps sound, use the amps rpeamp and use the rp500 for effects, if you do covers and need a dozen different amp sounds in a set, then this is the easiest way to get them. for example, fender twin for your rhythm sound, sodano for the leads.
Thanks, great review. Particularly like the overdrive / tweed-type sound midway through the demo. I spoke to Digitech today about the fact that my new Line6 M9 doesn't "play nicely" with my Jamman because of differences in the digital signals. Will be buying an RP500 this week. Thanks again.
I had this multieffects and I can say that it have great sounds, very reallistics, before I had one Boss GT8 but this effect like more... and the most important is the bypass for use only like stompboxes indepents without colored the warm of our tube amp...
@CRASHABC I used to run a separate distortion box through the RP500 and it worked pretty well--except for the wah. I had to get a separate wah pedal as well because I generally want my wah before my dirt boxes.
@delacruzneili No problem! The thing is, I don't exactly remember how I updated mine. But I'm sure that I got the XEdit, NetUpdater and RP500 Driver from digitech[dot]com[slash]en-US[slash]products[slash]rp500. Just click on the Downloads button on the lower right part of the page. :)
my son wants this RP500 or Zoom G3X both are $200 on amazn but whats better and why, Zoom has record via usb, play along with drums looping, pedal and 3 lcd screens that show what pedal is being used.
il was very happy with my rp 500 digitech and a couple of tech 21 box just for analog sound ^^ and compare to the Pod i have before the digitech is better than any other digital modeling device i used before, especialy plug in to a real analog valve Amplifier .
i didnt have mine a week and the master vol knob broke off, took it back, and a week later the new ones knob broke off too. sounds great but man they need a guard
@kushiii Thanks man. I have not yet installed my looper system in my rp500. Can you teach me how to do that in my pc procedurally? Thanks. Your reply helped me a lot since you're the only one replied with that comment of mine. I appreciated it. thanks.
the new rps have different out put settings all he needs to do is set it to amp out put my bro has anew rp when its set to amp out even with cab sim on it sounds very prescent but if its in mixer mode its muffled
@davilon05 haha it was my suggestion. i myself dont like the digitech pedals, thats all i was saying. oh and i do love all those genres of music, thats what i listen to. 60-80 rock, alt rock, and metal all the way up to present day. i even like metalcore.
@delacruzneili Nice Question you got there. Yes, to use Amp/Cab effect, you gotta have clean Amp plugged to your guitar. Otherwise it wud be cocktail of Amp/Cab effects. Like you got Laney Amp/Cab and now you set your Digitech RP500 to Marshall Amp tone, what would you get. COCKTAIL Amp/Cab Effect :P
if this is done without mic'ing, amp and guitar plugged into the pedal which is plugged into the PC, does the amp tone still go through or only what is selected as an amp and cab model? Like if I turned off the amp modeling, would a sound go through at all
yes, i mean, if those pop stars wanna be like that, let them be!! if their fans want to become like that, let the become... if they dont want, better!! but Rock and Roll, and everything around its world, every music styl, they've never been about looks! they've been about closing your eyes when someones playin' and have a fuckin eargasm!!
@davilon05 thats fine with me i dont want to start a fight either. it sounds like to me your friends dont know what they are doing with there equiptment. i get great sounds for all types of music melodic metal, blues, rock, hardcore, to a bright clean and im using a floor pod plus... not high end. like i said high end pods are for pros and people who know what they are doing... and if all you play is metal then of course your going to think the pod sucks. metal players have one sound... LOUD!!!
I really don't see why people are so insulting of this guy. It's his PLAYING we're interested in here, NOT his bloody fashion sense! Has the guitar world become THIS shallow?
@TheArmin666 Its Far better than Me-70. Actually Tone Quality wise its much better than GT-10 or POD line 6 models. I guess nothing beats Digitech from RP500 onwards in world of Digital effects.
haha, it was just my opinion on wich was better. i personaly like pods better than digitech. thats all. oh and i love all those genres of music, 60-2008, metal, rock, blues, metalcore, 80's hair bands, all of it man. oh and another thing im not even going to buy a pod im actually saving up for another pedal ( voxtonelab LE). fricken sick pedal man.
hello, can anybody explain to me the concept of amp effects? I mean the randall/marshall/mezaboogie/ cabinet included in a multi-effects? please, I'm having real hard times understanding it. If i have a Laney cabinet, why do i still have to use the Marshall cabinet amp embeded in the multi-effect guitar processor? please, I am so green with those concepts. hope you understand..
It makes sense if you're di-ing straight into the desk or using the usb output for recording, but live I run this in front of my mic'd up amp and just switch 'cab' on or off depending on whether I like that sound or not. The problem with the RP500 and all these other units is they do soooo much, it's overwhelming. Most people just find a couple of sounds they like and stick with that. Unless you're a session musician or covers band having to fit in/copy other people.
@Patriotdude26 dude....be really carefull....an universal adaptator wont work because the rp 500 uses a 9v AC-AC adaptator...and most of the universal adaptators are AC-DC or something else....if you remain using that adaptator, it will burn your pedal...so...go a find a 9v AC-AC....or else it wont work and you will destroy your pedal
in my older digitech gnx 3 I use the red-Green pedal as a boost for solos, how i do a solo if i dont see any stompbox to increase the level or gain for a solo..do i need to buy a boost pedal ? thanks
Spencer Morgan thanks but i have to do this in every preset ?..well i have right now the tc electronic spark boost and i put it at the end and makes the job
yo someone help me plz!!! my rp500 wont make any sounds, i broke my adapter so i bought a universal adapter and it powered on the pedal but it wont make any sounds wen i play my guitar
i hope you still see this after 10 years but, you probably using wrong adapter most likely an ac to dc adapter. you need an ac to ac adaptor. 110-220ac or whatever to 9v ac
Spectacular, amazing the RP500 Digitech multieffects, simpply the best.

Great unit very good sounding and quite versatile

I love again another multieffect rp 500 Digitech .
the sound of the min 2:48 really sounds great, like a tube amp....

@delacruzneili No problem!

The H&K Statesman !
my son wants this RP500 or Zoom G3X both are $200 on amazn but whats better and why, Zoom has record via usb, play along with drums looping, pedal and 3 lcd screens that show what pedal is being used.

@tkubecek hey he was my guitar teacher for half a year and he was good, big KISS fan though
the new rps have different out put settings all he needs to do is set it to amp out put my bro has anew rp when its set to amp out even with cab sim on it sounds very prescent but if its in mixer mode its muffled
There's H&K Triamp on standby and ready to play, and this guy mics on a Statesman... EFFF!!!!
@davilon05 haha it was my suggestion. i myself dont like the digitech pedals, thats all i was saying. oh and i do love all those genres of music, thats what i listen to. 60-80 rock, alt rock, and metal all the way up to present day. i even like metalcore.
That's awesome, what chords were you playing when you were first playing. the clean sound.

REEBOK PUMP !!! YEAH
You shouldn't be using the whammy bar after you play. I cant hear the distinction between the reverb and delay when you do that D:
MrBcoffey12 Whateverrrrr duuuude.
@CaRive93 i like the BOSS ME 70
I'm curios about the delay effects of the rp500. How's the performance of the delay? Can it mimic U2 sound?
is it possible to add stompboxes in the rp 500? thanks. Or at least how can i add it i mean the connections? i have the rp 500 plus a boss sd-1?
whats better...
Boss me-70 or this one, digitech rp500
???
@TheArmin666 Its Far better than Me-70. Actually Tone Quality wise its much better than GT-10 or POD line 6 models. I guess nothing beats Digitech from RP500 onwards in world of Digital effects.
@bandofredempion no prob i would actually recomend the vox tonelab LE it is better than both
Me puede usar con guitarra electroacustica?
haha, it was just my opinion on wich was better. i personaly like pods better than digitech. thats all. oh and i love all those genres of music, 60-2008, metal, rock, blues, metalcore, 80's hair bands, all of it man. oh and another thing im not even going to buy a pod im actually saving up for another pedal ( voxtonelab LE). fricken sick pedal man.
@OrangeCountyCarl Emo is 80s

Would anyone recomend this to get Mars Volta like effects?
does it have a drum machine on it?
yeah it doesn't but the video was probably made in a rush
How will I edit like your tone?😥

Nice playing, but the playing says 80s while the look says EMO. :)
in my older digitech gnx 3 I use the red-Green pedal as a boost for solos, how i do a solo if i dont see any stompbox to increase the level or gain for a solo..do i need to buy a boost pedal ?
thanks
rolando0572 Create an identical preset with about a 4db boost on the "preset" volume for the solo patch.
Spencer Morgan thanks but i have to do this in every preset ?..well i have right now the tc electronic spark boost and i put it at the end and makes the job
well theyre australian. theyre all stuck in the 90s xDDD
yo someone help me plz!!! my rp500 wont make any sounds, i broke my adapter so i bought a universal adapter and it powered on the pedal but it wont make any sounds wen i play my guitar

this dude's look is stuck back in 1990..lol
Was ahead of his time
Thanks to MTV, yeah, most people are. And it's really sad.
This dude can play but what's with the pump kicks haha.
@davilon05 digitech products dont allow you to go in and tweak like the high end pods do. sorry i prefer pro equiptment... not beginners pedals...
Rerppp po

Well said dude. Guitarists can be so like catty women.
my digitech *_*
Oh my the reverb doesn't sound good
I hope you don't still rush your barber.
