There’s a happy medium between leaving the bunny in a playpen and letting them free roam all over the house. You can choose a room and let them free roam in there only. My bunny 🐰 has my office and the bathroom connected to it. She is super happy having her own space and being away from my dogs. Also I work from home, so I’m with her almost all day.
Another tip: Bathroom mats. My bunny looooves a soft bathroom mat and they are super affordable. She especially loves memory foam ones from Walmart. Lol
Bunnies are honestly so chill and low maintenance. Give them a piece of your fruit and let them play with a cardboard box, pet them and give them love and they’re happy as can be. ❤❤❤❤

This girl that was in my class last year got a rabbit, and she said she is getting a rabbit and I told her to do research before getting a rabbit and she said ok but, she showed me her cage and her care and stuff… she clearly didn’t do her research 😶. I told her multiple times her care isn’t right and she needs to get a large Xpen (she had the smallest cage.) and her excuses were “I have 2 cats” and “I don’t have enough space for one”.. I kept telling her so many times and she didn’t listen. She had a salt lick, water bottle, bad toys, tiny hay rack, etc. I tried telling her all of those stuff was bad and she didn’t listen.

I've had a bit of a tricky go with my rabbit. I inheritated my rabbit from my baby sister who got tired of him. So I can't say enough how important it is to realize how long rabbits can live. My rabbit is now 9 years old, we're pretty sure and I've come across some challenges but I have so much love for Bambi that I think the challenges are totally worth it!!

It’s 6am and my rabbit has been free roam 24/7 since he was 7 weeks, he’s almost 3 years old now, he’s in my bed, we were cuddling and watching this then he got mad that I wouldn’t let him eat my phone charger so I’m getting the booty treatment now😂 I’m very proud to say that I’ve inspired my friends with bunnies to free roam, when they met my bunny they always ask “how is he so nice? My bunny never wants to cuddle or be pet for a long time” and I swear it’s because of free roaming. They feel like an equal and they can do their own thing when they want and if they feel like spending time with you they can come to you whenever. It’s hard if they’re in a cage because everyone wants to play with their bunny when they let them have roaming time but if they’re cooped up most of the time when they’re out they just want to do their own thing

I would also suggest, pet insurance. Its a life saver. My rabbit had a biopsy, then medication afterwards, and it was a lot of money, but having insurance towards that was a peace of mind. Its a payment a month, but when something happens to your pet, you know they're covered. :)

It's also a good idea to neuter because a neutered bun tends to live longer as the risk of reproductive cancer is much much lower, inside rabbits who have been neutered live years longer on average than an unneutered outside bunny would

I dream about my bunnies all the time and I miss them so! My first bunny was a little angel and she was so soft and cute. My rex rabbit was BEAUTIFUL! I love rabbit fur, it's so soft and clean and smells nice. My rabbit used to eat and drink out my hands! She used to snuggle up to me in my bed and lick the tears off my face when I was sad! I have seen a rabbit sleeping in my bed looking so content and happy. She lived until she was 8 and was only supposed to last until she was 4-6 years old!!!! Bunnies are not just pets, their a best friend too!

The shorter xpens are great for bunny proofing the walls, baseboards and cords. Just line the walls with them if you have a bunny who thinks the plastic corner and cord protectors are a great toy. Might not look great but I would rather protect the hard surfaces from chewing.

I can't agree with you more. And it's good timing, there are such good sales right now. Knowing where to go after vet hours is so important, unfortunately in my city there's only one emergency vet, but she at least will see buns. Day to day we go to vet that is our neighbour, and she's wonderful, once she waited for us after her hours, because I panicked a bit. And he tolerates her, so we have a success. And she always gives him compliments and is petting him. Good vet is really important.

I get branches from friends’ yards or gardens I volunteer in, NOT from roadsides, or places where pesticides are used. Branches I have given her: rose, blackberry, raspberry, salmon berry, apple, pineapple sage, forsythia, and black poplar. I give her about one branch a day with about 20 on it.

I've had a few rabbits in my lifetime. They all lived over 10 years and my oldest one lived to be 15. That was with a 2' X 4 ft galvanized cage, a water dish, unlimited Timothy hay, a Timothy Hay dispenser, and a handful of pellets every day . The cage did NOT have bottom, but a flat galvanized bottom lined with newspaper . The bunnies had play time with my other animals including my two cats and two dogs and all my rabbits fit in with our lifestyle. They don't have to be this complicated. I must let you know that they were neutered or spayed. I can't stress that enough. When we were home they had the run of the house . When we weren't, they went in their cage. Rabbit owners will be amuse to hear that whenever one of us humans came home from work, the rabbit would Binky continuously 😊

For my bunny a leash is essential because I take him outside several times a week. He enjoys so much to roam around in the forrest or near by park. I just have an eye out for dogs unleashed.

I would be absolutely terrified to take my rabbits outside just imagining that they will be attacked by dogs. Is your bunny not afraid outdoors?

In our parks in Denmark all dogs have a leash. I just go to remoter areas of the park and if a dog comes our way I always pick up my rabbit and pass by. The forrest is always good too. Eventhough it´s not mainstreamto take out your rabbit it´s natural for bunnies to move and run and need to get all the smells from nature and dig. Not all rabbits have the same energy of course. @@Bombabingbong66

If u have a hanging hay feeder I use a shoe tray from Walmart and it works great for hay, pellets even if they spill water it will be easier to clean u can rinse it off in a shower or bath

I find that ex pens can sometimes be pricey and not be enough space. So having to buy two can be an issue for some people. But if you have old cages for small animals you can actually take them apart and use zip ties to put them together as a custom ex pen to what ever size you want. I use to have a bunch of extra cages, i didnt really use them but i kept buying them at yardsales and thrift stores or finding them in people trash occasionally. So i decided to clean them as best i could, and take them apart to make a pen that is decent size.

Probably your best video, loved it so much especially the last point! Have no expectations but accept them as they are too. Rabbits are not like dogs or cats, though they may share some characteristics; they are better 😁

I love what you have to say about bunny proofing - makes me laugh out loud because I know it works for almost every bun, but my Ziggy Bundust laughs in the face of bunny proofing! There's not a baby gate he can't chew or squeeze through. There's not an x pen he can't knock over. There's no flex tubing he can't chew through! But he's a dang champ with his litterbox, at least when he's not dumping it out on the floor🤣
Any advice for dealing with high energy brat buns? He's a Dutch/Silver Marten/New Zealand mix if it helps to know. Just under a year and a half old.

I used to have a silver marten rabbit, but even now, I still like learning about rabbits, and I sometimes fantasise about buying rabbit gear, ready for the day when, who knows! I might adopt a rabbit.

Ahhh on thanksgiving eve one of my rabbits went into stasis! It was our first time experiencing it. No local vets were open so we went to one in Thousand Oaks that’s 26 miles away from us. We were there from 11PM-4:30AM. The vet said the baby gas drops are a hit or miss but it’s still worth a shot so it could buy time as you said Lorelei. I will definitely be looking into the hair ball medication because they shed horribly & won’t let me groom them so I have to take them to a groomer monthly😅

The gas drops work when you first notice no eating or pooping. My neighbor who has 3 therapy bunnies she uses with kids came over and gave my foster bunny some. He was better within a half hour. Seems I gave him more greens than he could handle and got gas. These videos are so helpful. I'm a dog mama but haven't had a bunny before.

Thank you the video. I’ve been watching for a while so most of these tips felt familiar. Can you highlight more on cleaning products. I’m so used to strong smelling products like Clorox, Fabuloso, Glide, and Lysol when it comes to cleaning my home. Any recommendations on what I should be using instead when having a bunny?

I think that it's important to have a vet that knows BUNNY care. A lot of vets are not well versed in bunny care
