I live in Maine down a 1 Mile dirt hilly road, my 2016 F250 is my snow plow truck with manual locking hubs.. and I just bought in Jan my wife a 2021 Subaru Ascent.. Because of the need for a well built AWD family car.... and let me tell you , our 2021 Subaru is wicked smart with the AWD now a days !!!!.. I love my Truck, its a tank when I put chains on it for plowing.. but we will see this year with the Subaru.. crossing fingers for a better grip..!! your video is Awesome! this is a perfect explanation and I am gonna have my son watch this!
Thanks for this video , it helped me alot. I have a question. Is it possible to replace a 4wd part time transfer case with a 4wd full time transfer case
Thank you amazing video I have a 2015 ford transit 350 all wheel drive and it's making a really weird sound from the transfer case I believe so I'm gonna get it checked out but not a lot of techs know how to work with these because there's not a lot of Ford vans out there's with the all wheel drive system but this did help me a lot thank you so much
Hi, It's a nice knowledgeable video. Is there any sensor inside the transfer case, If it is there, Is it inbuild and can't be repair, coz I am having some issues in my Safari storme 4x4, I checked with the service center and they said that the inbuild sensor has some issues. Please guide if I can make it work, Really love to drive back in 4x4 of my beast. Thanks
What do Do you think about the iwe lockouts when the front diff and cv shafts turning. Does that screw with the transfer case. Having the front shaft and rear shaft turning. But not locked in 4x4
friend, I have a Mercury mountaineer 2005 awd and where you moved it manually where it says 2H, 4H and 4L on my transfer case it has an N (I think it is neutral), if I move it manually in N the truck will work as if it didn't have one transfer case????,,(I want to do it because my transfer case apparently does not work because the awd flashes on my instrument panel), so friend, is what I want to do correct???
hi you may what to look at all your universals you may have one going bad they can make noise on that bronco if im right 6 universals that what i have on my 1979 fruit at the tires you have 1 on each side then the fruit drive shaft you have 2 the the rear drive shaft you have 2 . I hope you can find the noise.
i want to make my 2001 awd v8 mountaineer into 2wd just by changing the the transfer case do you know what year to year f150 transfer cases work with the mercury mountaineer?looking for manual select .or any other vehicles that can match my transmission?thanks
Rewatched this and I think you could be right with your theory that this is an issue with the servo motor( i figure its servo if it has an encoder). I know it sounds super obvious, but have you checked the cable for any damage? Or any dirt or debris in electronics? Ive had an issue before on a project where a poor contact dropped a little too much voltage and offset the servo position? Of course this could all be giberish hahaha but if it both struggling to reach the off state and not lighting the 4wd light in the on state, yet still working, it could be indicative of a voltage offset rather than an issue with the motor itself caused by general wear and tear.
It was my locking hubs. When I removed them it stopped and they've been replaced now with zero issues. It got really bad recently so that made it easy to troubleshoot.

The nv247 from the 99-04 all time 4 wheel drive system uses the same system as most limited slip differentials. Simple clutch plates.

can't say I do. I'm a ford guy but not to that level of detail.

Have you got mismatched tires or even tires worn differently? That's likely the problem, had the same issue on my f150
