    Good luck with the attempt, really admire your courage and spirit to take it on. I rode the Uber Pretzel last week (much easier than what you are attempting), took me approx 6 hours with a few breaks thrown in. Rode at a little bit under 2w/kg and slightly over on the alpe to finish. Hadn’t ridden that long on a bike for about 35 years so it was quite an experience! Keep hydrated and remember to eat. My heart rate drifted up over the course of the ride- went from about 125 to 165 for the same effort. Lots of great TH-cam videos on Everest attempts (indoors and outdoors). All give a sense of the epic nature of the challenge. Keep us updated and chapeau!

      Thank you Andrew, first of all, Congrats on finishing the Uber Pretzel I'm yet to complete that myself =(.. the hardest ride I have done indoors was the Four horseman... so I have a long journey ahead of me. That my biggest fear my HR will drift too high and fatigue will set in real quick.. now I'm training with food and calories too see what my body can take and also will start to really train my endurance with long rides like the mega and uber pretzel in due time. I have been watching a fair few TH-cam videos on Everesting some of those people have such strong mental strength as they summit the alpe in relativly the same time as I do which gives me hope but I know I can't last as long as they do =).. but hopefully that will change with practice. Thank you for your comment and support I will surely update you guys on my journey regardless of my success or failure.

    I did mine on 25th of Feb, 2023. The key to this is keep doing these HRs. Once you can do a half Everest, then your mind will automatically kick it up a notch and tells you you can do the full. I did my half on boxing day of 2022. Number 5, 6, and 7th will be the hardest. Make sure you have a support group is also important, it gets lonely really quick when you are struggling. If you are doing it only twice you can pace yourself for 80 minutes per but when it is 8.5 times up, give yourself more time per. Towards the end of mine I could barely put out 2.0 wkg. Definitely on the right track, just keep repeating these climbs. Good luck!

      Congrats on completing your everest man... Unfortunately I have no hope as I've given up training 😢.. but thanks for the advice.

      @@tofuhiker Don't give up bro, just have to keep plugging at it! I've been contemplating doing it for 2 years. I kept climbing the alpe and eventually worked up enough courage to do it. And, I am not a strong cyclist by any means. Come on man, you can do this!

      @@wingy72 thanks for the encouragement man :), I'm more addicted to my hiking for now and used to do 8 hours of riding a week which is now down to 1 or 2. I'll eventually get back to it. Thanks once again.

    Good luck Tofu. I don't know that I'll ever take up the everesting challenge.

    Great video. How is the training going? Good luck with the attempt. I've just completed a vEveresting of Alpe du Zwift, let me know if you want any advice.

      I don't think I'll make it :(.. training has been terrible it's hitting summer in a week and the heat is tough to sit through indoors.. I can feel my base endurance Improving slightly but no where near the level it would need to be for complete the vevestering. Big congrats for completing yours, may I ask how long your preparation was? And this might not be relevant but what level rider are you? Ftp wise? For me at this stage probably can complete 4 to 5 ADZ at the most.

      @@tofuhiker I’m currently around 2.7w/kg FTP. I’ve done 2 Everesting’s now, one virtual and one IRL. For both of them, I did surprisingly little specific training. I’m now convinced that the Everesting challenge is 80% mental and 20% physical. You’ll never feel prepared physically, and I’m tempted to believe that too much specific training will only serve to convince you that you can’t do it; it gets hard very quickly but then it’s a case of just working through it. The heat will definitely be a consideration though. I’m thinking of doing a video outlining my experiences of the two Everestings.

      @@Forever_Tri-ing Please do the video =).. I'm sitting at 3.5 w/kg and I was using the excuse I'm too weak lol.. My endurance zone is 2.2-2.5 w/kg but at 100% trainer difficulty I can't get up the ADZ without a hard grind.. so I need to change my front chain rings. Can I ask what was your avg w/kg up the hill? and how long it took you? my goal time was 15 hours but yeah mentally I don't think I'm going to survive. I can do a 15 hour hike though lol.. not a bike ride as of yet.

      @@tofuhiker You've definitely got the power. I averaged around 2.1w/kg and was getting to the top in around 92 mins, with a cadence of about 50rpm. I used to grinding it though. Extended breaks are the key with the vEverest, especially up the Alpe.

      @tofuhiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Forever_Tri-ing yes I watched your video last night.. I can't grind like you but now I have no excuses left.. I will get my butt into training and work on the mental game which I think is my weakness, like you it's 80% mental.

    Wow! Good effort man!! Hope you smash it! If you really wanna up the challenge, close the windows, and start pumping the oxygen out of the room to simulate higher altitude LoL

      Bro! you don't think climbing Mt Barney 8.5 times in one day isn't hard enough as a challenge? you want me to wear a MASK as well?? because that is exactly what your advising me to do hahahaha, I'm thankful for the suggestion but I will pass. I'd be happy to finish this challenge any way I could.

    I'm also looking at do an Everesting, but looking at changing the front chain from 39 - 36 tooth sprocket on my training bike. This would allow you to spin more with trainer difficulty at 100%

    • @tofuhiker
      @tofuhiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes that is an option =), still going to be a huge challenge, I wish you luck.

    I have just started zwift and the idea of this is so far off for me. Im a relatively fit guy, just not done cycling before. My legs are just starting to get used to an hours worth of pretty intense riding (for me) well, done.

    • @tofuhiker
      @tofuhiker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks =), I'm sure it won't take you long to build endurance and be able to cycle much longer, reduce the intensity to increase the duration. There are some fun routes that will test your endurance like 4 horsemen or PRL
