A lot of the stuff you'd need a guide for today was just trial and error back then. The game came out in 1996, the whole "arcade mentality" which saps quarters out of kids pockets (and makes people rent games from the game rental longer) was still live and kicking. So, dying in a game and figuring out what to do was the standard, unless your friends told you before. And the remake wasn't *that* far removed from all this in 2002 with only 6 years after the original... hmm. The time between PS1 RE1 and the remake feels WAY longer than the time between the Remake and now... (Also, those door animations were the loading screens back then! :D)
Another thing the original RE was known for is the tank controls, where pressing up always moves Jill or Chris forward no matter the camera angle, pressing back makes you walk back, and pressing left or right turns you in place. If you had a controller plugged in you could use the joystick for the alternative movement while the dpad is used for tank controls.
Dude I’m really excited for you to experience the RE3 Remake version of Jill. She’s so much better as a character, and so mad about her trauma over the first game. I’m sure you read this in guides already too, but for the RE3 remake try to get not-bad at her perfect dodge-plus-shoot combo. The game will be way easier and way more fun. You’ll feel like STARS members are actually cool. Love your vids as always, keep it up!

OG RrE gamed 2 things to keep in mind. Is only use herbs to heal. First aid sprays will add huge negative points to end score. 2nd is to use as few ink ribbons as possible for over all end score.
The whole save thing (you talked about u felt it was kind of pointless to have ink ribbons since u have the storage box right there etc) it really comes into affect when you play "real survivor" mode because u get way less ink ribbons and more importantly, storage boxes aren't linked so if u put items in the item box on 1 end of the first floor then go to the other side of the mansion and use the item box, those items won't be there. Real survivor mode is the mode that should be played to get the real experience of the game. Lisa Trevor is the daughter of the architect of the mansion, umbrella killed her dad as soon as he finished construction so nobody would know about the work he did, and Lisa and her mother were both experimented on, her mother eventually dies due to the experiments but as u see, Lisa is clearly mutated but survived

this games trial and error going on dry runs to figure out what to do then doing them again after knowing what to do. That broken door is an interesting design decision the game is all about risk and reward do you use up your door access to get through some parts faster? or save them for later when moving through the mansion gets harder? what sucks is when you first play you wont know how many tries you get unless you look it up.

So I assume you're only going to play the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3? Which is a god damn shame, cause both remakes are incomplete, Resident Evil 2 is only has half the game remade, and Resident Evil 3 is completely butchered with the majority of the game cut out. I really hope you give the original 2 and 3 a play through, because while the remakes aren't awful there is a lot left out. the original RE2 had A & B scenario for both playable characters basically.. If you started playing the game as Leon [ A ], you unlocked Claire [B] which you see what Claire was doing during the events of Leon [A] with new bosses, locations and completely different cutscenes from Claire [A]. Likewise you started the game with Claire [A] ( The canon one btw ), after beating that you get Leon [B] which is what Leon was doing in Claire [A]'s scenario and again different cutscenes, locations and bosses from Leon [A]. The Remake does away with all of that and basically only gives you Leon and Claire [A] which contradict one another and doesn't make sense storywise. If you do decide to play the original Resident Evil 2 and 3 I highly recommend the PC version with the patches from AppleEden. That is only true in RE2 and Code Veronica. RE1 doesn't have a score, it only counts time to unlock stuff.

I played this blind too one year ago. And i sucked at the puzzles. I died at the arrmor key puzzles
