    That little point at the end of his feet is because of the properties of the stroke. If caps are a different style, rounded or whatnot, it wouldn't do that. I have learned a lot about inkscape by watching a guy called "Logos by Nick." But I love seeing you combine Inkscape and making things in the Cricut. Thank you.

      Sara, can you explain how to fix this issue, please?

    • @thecookiemomma
      @thecookiemomma 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Emm...Kay... In the stroke styles panel, you want the caps or ends for where the stroke lines make a hard corner. If it's a softer corner, you want joins. There are options to make them more circular or to cut off flat. Usually, if it's sticking out like that, I try flat first and then circular. You can also drop the stroke beneath the object with the other buttons. I checked, and they are listed from bottom to top, so Markers, fill, stroke puts the markers at the bottom, the fill second, and the stroke on top. I would play around with that, and also where the actual points and handles are if that doesn't work. Look at the object with the "paths by nodes" tool, second beneath selection, and see if there is a handle sticking way out. Hope this helps.

    Question: Can I use Inkscape to simulate the "bleed" option from Cricut Design Space? For example, I want to trace an outline that may have either solid colors or graphics. For solid colors I can just fill the white border, but for graphics I guess I'd have to mirror each edge in all directions and fill the border with that. I have no idea what steps to take to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Just discovered your videos and they are helping me keep my sanity. For this video you are using Inkscape which I have downloaded to follow along. The versions we each have seem to differ as when you get to the step for Trace Bitmap my pop up window is different with the options in different places. This is causing me to get a little lost and my image does not fill in as yours does. Are there other settings in there I should be adjusting as even moving the threshold to maximum like you did, your image goes black, mine just gets a little more pixelated. Please help!

Please, help.....Your help is so so appreciated. This video is great and will be more perfect with the black and white image outline method too. • @EricMBoyd
      @EricMBoyd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I am not sure. Depends on what I am cutting and all materials and the machines are different. If you look at the modified pressure settings adjust them with a base material then add just enough pressure each cut till you get desired results. I do this when making kiss cut stickers to die cut magnets. Thing is need a fresh mat too. Using old mat can require more pressure if it was heavily used.

    I was wondering your opinion on the difference between Inkscape vs. Gimp? I mostly have used Publisher & been watching videos to learn the above.

    • @EricMBoyd
      @EricMBoyd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question! First thing you need to know is Vector vs Raster images. GIMP/PHOTOSHOP are Raster images programs. Think Photos and Bitmap images. Lots of little dots make up the image. Vector is all Mathematical shapes and colors and the reason you see Inkscape a lot is because it creates SVG(Sizable Vector Graphics) files. So really it is all about what you need. I use my artwork on a lot this stuff, but my artwork is all Raster images. It's good to learn both. I only did the tutorial for those because they are free and people don't want to pay for Photoshop or Illustrator. Oh and FREE doesn't mean they are bad. I like Both Gimp and Inkscape. I use Inkscape as I did not pay for Illustrator. Gimp I don't use only because I have been using Photoshop for over 20 years.

    • @emboydart85
      @emboydart85 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I have heard this a few times and have experienced it my self and what I found out was it was completely my printer!! Every print would never be the same the automatic paper feed or tray would always load slightly different no matter what I did. My new Printer I only use the manual rear feed and that prints perfect alignment 98% of the time. I am working on a way to adjust for the other printer.

    When I complete the steps as instructed, I noticed in Design space the register marks are lined up nicely in the corners right at 00,00 etc. but once I go to MAKE IT the marks are NOT right in the corners.. they are at 0.5, etc. and almost 9" they do not line up and so the printed picture is not lining up at all. You don't show how the paper is lined up on the MAT before it gets fed into the cricut

    • @EricMBoyd
      @EricMBoyd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      See other videos I do show it. You need to tape the mat and cut your alignment square

      Thanks I watched your video on taping of the mat and I did that. BUt I didn't see anything about cutting your alignment squares? can you tell me which video to watch for that? In one of yours that I watched you said the registration marks were WHITE, but that somehow the cricut knew that. thanks :)

    I’ll have to give it a try n let u know if it works it’s dumb u have to have to find ways to print a full page of cricut cricut limit with printing yet it cuts 12 by 12 n other things it don’t make sense to limit printing cos that what machine is for lol that’s weird lol

    • @EricMBoyd

  • @reefdiver123

    On the registration marks, you should just use the "x" and "y" coordinates to make it easier. Also may be better to Duplicate then copy.

      It allows you to position perfectly your image with the tape on the mat to get more cutting space and use larger area of your materials.
