1998 my brother gave me Metal Gear Solid as a Christmas gift and it left me speechless. We normally didn't give each other such expensive things (for 12-13 year olds everything is expensive haha). I'm still very grateful for that gift. One time I forgot to turn off the Playstation before bed time. I went to school the next day with the game still running. When I returned home and put the TV on I found Solid Snake was in the warehouse ventilation shafts all night and all day. I remember I felt as much shame and grief as if Snake was a real person. I told him I was sorry. Please make as much PS1 content as you like Mr. SSG!
Bought a Japanese ps1 Dec 1994 for £700 with Ridge racer. Still have it. Having future tech almost a year before anyone else was incredible. I couldn't describe it at the pub because they would think I'm drunk or lying, I had to show them.
My childhood are with NES, but my formative years are fully PS1, it shape my taste on gaming even today. Playing japanese,US and EU games in PS1 trully a remarkable experience for me.
PS1 was a juggernaut back then and easily the dominant force. I had one for a few years and then got an N64 which I loved. Eventually I even got a Saturn as well which I also loved for handful of games Nights, Daytona, Sega Rally, Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon II and Radiant Silvergun. Wonderful system the Saturn. My fondest memory on the PS1 was the first Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo I-II , Ridge Rave IV, Wipeout, Wipeout XL and Touring Cars. The Ps1 was part of my gaming for a few years and I'm very fond of it and still play the games. They do look a whole lot better these days however if you run them through Duckstation with internal resolution and the option to sort out wonky textures which the PS1 was all about. In fact I'd say the PS1 has aged very badly in comparison the Saturn
i would like that please talk about the games you loved grouping up your perspective is invalable as an older gamer to game devs like me who want to understand why people like you loved gaming growing up compared to games today
I was PC gaming during that time. But it didn’t stop my siblings or cousins and I from renting these systems and some buying one. We always had a blast with PlayStation. N64 was disappointing and even when my sister and my cousin a couple of houses away had one I wasn’t all impressed. Tekken was really cool. Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider 2, MDK, and Soul Reaver all classics I absolutely had on my PC. After finding all the titles released in Japan for the Sega Saturn pulled me in that direction. I love the original PlayStation. And really not a fan of its successors. There are a lot of PlayStation titles accessible for PC and other systems. Sega Saturn had a few. I see what arcade titles and obscure titles that were released in Japan and it really makes it my favorite.
I love the Sony PlayStation 1 It has so many wonderful games spanning different genres. Final Fantasy 7 6:03 I played that game so much I already knew that it was it. , Tekken games , Street Fighter Alpha 3 , Resident Evil games, Metal Gear Solid and so much more. Cool video. ^_^
I agree that PS4 was a low point for Sony. Every game in its library I could play on PC with better fps and quality. There were very few games I was interested in. Even Uncharted 4 didn't feel great compared to ps3 ones.
Ps1 was the game changer. Everything after got more boring imo. I was 17 ish when I got the ps1 with resident evil..I went from a mega drive to shitting my pants and never being more excited for games to release such as Re2 and Metal Gear solid. It was the best times to be a gamer. I have a ps5 now and spend what ever little time playing Old games through it, current Turrok 2.
Just X Bots telling PS4 was a low Point and how great the PS3 was😂In Reallity the PS3 was the low Point for Sony with less KonsolenSells then PS1,PS2,PS4 and the PS5 yet 😮But the PS3 had the same sale Numbers like the " glory" 360 😂Now u know why the PS4 had a " low" Point...Becouse it was like " Yes ! Sony is back with the PS4 !" 😂
Well, N64 has not only true 3d gaming, but much better at that regard than PSX, so that cannot be the reason. Of course one can prefer one system or other for their own reasons, but that's actually not true. Also, the diferences between Saturn and PSX on graphics are quite smaill, smaller than PSX and N64, actually, and the main reason most people thing that way is that many many good games in Saturn didn't arreive to overseas and were kept in japan only. I am not saying by any means that Saturn was superior to PSX in 3D graphs, just that the difference is not so big as many think. In my case, I also prefer PSX, event though my fist election in the era was N64, I just had more fun with PSX, but now that I can use my saroo cartdrige to try many many Saturn games, I notices that it has a huge and brillian catalog. Many people do not know that Tomb Raider was launched in Saturn first, that it had Residen Evil or never saw Panzer Dragoon Saga and other games that really are outstanding. So, no matter if you prefer PSX (as I do), I suggest you try to discover Saturn, and I think you will be surprised. (Compare Grandia in PSX and Saturn for instance, and look at the nice Wipeout (and 2) conversion, not as smoth as psx one, but we probably wouldn't have noticed in the time) Also, Capcom and others 2D arcade conversions in Saturn are superb, using the memory expansion. Quite impresive to see those SF3 or Marvel VS Capcom pixel perfect conversions in the era, something not possible in PSX.
back then sega saturn was worthless cuz less games and games look worse than ps1, also nobody wants to wait a year for N64 to release, so ps1 was a better option

Easiest choice ever. PS1 was legendary

There was quite a lot of variety on the console.

don't compare ps1 to snes and genesis, these consoles were 4th generation and early 90s, while ps1 is 5th gen and mid 90s
Correct, ps1 was up against saturn & gamecube (ps1 won that battle imo)
@@matthewmoloney2336 against saturn and nintendo 64, not gamecube
It's really kind of a no brainer. The PS1 had the biggest and best library of that generation.
I wonder why you say the PS4 is a horrible system? It's a system I honestly enjoy a lot.
For me the PS1 was more my new Super Nintendo then the N64 was without no JRPGs and a CastleVania like Symphony of the Night😅
Still have 750+ physical copies for PlayStation1
Suikoden is an amazing game
FPS?
PS4 almost killed the Xbox brand. How was it a low point?

agree, ps1 offers more games, cool contents and true 3D gaming
