    Great demo. I would add a few things:
    -this rack (as does most racks) weighs about 52 lbs without the bikes. Remember this before lifting on and off.
    - notice how the demonstrator puts the arm as far back as it can go on the front wheel. This is not negotiable. This will not work with fenders! I can't tell you how many people make this mistake.
    Thanks!

    Great video. I recently bought a couple of new MTBs that my older Thule rack was unable to secure properly. I have been a loyal Thule customer and saw this video before I bought this. Was a great review and I ordered right away. Took me about 30 minutes to assemble and put on my car. Must say the quality is second to none. 5 star in my opinion. Thanks again. Big thumbs up to the staff at RA in Mississauga that helped me with my purchase.

      @rackattack  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for the encouraging feedback. Thule has just introduced the new Epos which is very well suited for ebikes, the method to attach bikes is the most versatile and there is an option for a ramp to ease loading of heavy bikes. There's also an option for taillights which is a frequently requested upgrade. Have a look here:

    One question, can you lock the hook ratchet in place after you tighten it? In case someone walks by and presses it, this could potentially release the clamping pressure and the bike could fall. My current bike rack has a lock mechanism on the ratchet so you can't accidentally release it.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello. A locking handle was designed into an earlier version of the T2 and ultimately phased out. It was realized that air could be released from the front tire allowing the locked hook to be detached and bike removed. The current design uses a locking cable housed in the arm to secure to the bicycle frame itself. Thanks for your question

  •  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Once again, great video!
    Being Swedish, I cannot understand why this Swedish made (designed) Thule rack is not available in Sweden? Could be that we use ball hitches instead? The Swedish models are made out of 50% plastic and does not look/feel as robust as this one. Why?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello Tony, as we only handle Thule product within North America I do not have an answer to this question. This may be a question based saved for Thule directly. It's great that is has an integrated lock cable built into the wheel arm.. but what is stoping someone from quickly undoing the 4 bolts that hold the rack onto the main beam?

    • @rackattack

      Hello. The rack could be disassembled as a way to bypass the rack's security. If transporting high value bikes that may attract a highly motivated thief, extra security would be recommended. Thanks!

    When I first tried to install my new T2 Pro XTR it would not slide into the 1-1/4 inch receiver. It kept hanging up on the wedge. I thought the hitch was defective. But actually the wedge was sliding rearwards due to friction and getting pushed outwards by the rack stinger. One of the nice young fellows at the Minneapolis Rack Attack store showed me how to hold the stinger with one hand, while sliding the hitch into the receiver, and at the same time pushing the wedge forward with my thumb. That was a bit awkward for this old guy. Now I keep a strong, fat rubber band on the stinger and slide that over the wedge to hold it in the correct position while installing the rack into the receiver. I assume that after the rack has gotten some more use it will wear in and the rubber band trick will not be needed. You might want to add these tricks to the end of your very helpful video.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So unfortunately this model of rack does not have a ramp as an accessory, and either end of the tray doesn't have a section that is easy to use a generic ramp to attach. This model is generally used when lifting the bikes in and out.

    Could be use the other way around? I use a disc wheel, wondering if the strap is on the front wheel if works.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. It would be best to install a standard spoke wheel for transport, disk wheels generate excessive wind drag on the rack and although not specifically addressed in the product manual, it falls in line with similar limitations such as bike covers. Thanks!

    Trying to decide between this one and the easy fold for our 55lb e bikes. Read some bad reviews about being able to mount eBikes on the easy fold because of the wider frame. Have the ncm moscow m3. Does anyone have an opinion on the 2?

      Hello. Many eBikes have front fenders which are not compatible with the hook-on-wheel design of the T2. The EasyFold XT has rubberized frame grippers that can hold frame tubing size from 20mm to 80mm, 3.15" to 0.79". Hope that helps, thanks!

    How do you get through rack off? I am having difficulty removing it from the hitch.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. First, confirm the turn knob is unlocked, if it is locked the knob spins freely. Next, turn the knob counter-clock wise, this will loosen the wedge inside the hitch, rock the rack if necessary to dislodge the wedge, lastly, pull the auto-pin away from the hitch pin hole and slide the rack out of the hitch.

    Can this be used on bikes with fenders?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. Thanks for checking, answer is generally no, the front hold down hook needs direct contact with the front tire and within about an inch from the front forks. Most fenders extend from the front fork several inches, this would position the hold down hook in a less stable position and so it in advised against.

    I have that exact rack. It has been on the car since Spring and now I cannot remove it since the turn knob wedge is essentially seized. I am now using a monkey wrench on it to move it in tiny increments and will take ages at this pace to remove it. I've used WD-40 and Rust Chek to no avail - it is still almost seized at the wedge inside the hitch tube. This need improvement IMHO to prevent dirt, corrosion or whatever is making this thing so hard to remove. I would have bought the 1Up if I knew then what I know now.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the handle. It is recommended to remove the rack when not in use or at least periodically to inspect and administer general maintenance. This is advisable for any rack brand especially when exposed to wet weather/sand/salts etc. A good rule it to maintain your rack as you would you bike(s), wash, wax, lube, store out of the elements when possible. Hope this helps you and/or others reading. Thanks!

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. The auto pin will stay in place even over rough roads. The primary retention for the rack is the wedge tightened into the hitch with the locking turn knob. Thanks.

    Not much clearance for mountain bike handlebars for opening the back hatch.

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. There has been a trend to wider MTB bars so depending on the arc of the hatch, the extension of the hitch, some rack/bike/vehicle combinations could see handlebar contact with the opening hatch. We'd suggest a test fit before purchasing.

      If you are looking for 51 inch wheelbase, the following racks accommodate that: Thule Easyfold XT, Yakima Stage Two, Kuat Piston. If you find your local store at rackattack.com, or if you reach out to our online services team, we will gladly work with you to find which might be the best fit for you

    After a few usages, the stinger is loose and blocks the hitch from sliding in. I was hoping your video would have a solution to get the stinger wedge to stay tight /close to the hitch so I can install it. Cable lock is as fussy as hell. And the key/locking system feels cheap. Once you try the key in lock -- it's not smooth. Also loading the bike solo is just plain awkward and tough if you're hauling an e-mtn bike. The rack REALLY bounces even on the freeway. Kind of unnerving when looking in the rearview mirror while driving down the freeway. Sometimes I'll pull off and do another "tightening down". Here's another persons TH-cam where you can see what I mean: th-cam.com/video/y1PSg0MH1Xw/w-d-xo.html
    I'm already $800 in and can say I do not recommend it. For now, I'll have to tolerate it. Would not buy it again. - I fI had to buy another rack, I'd get the Kuat bike rack

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello. In order to improve the connection of the Thule rack to the hitch, rock the rack side to side while tightening the turn knob, this will help the wedge to nest into the corner of the receiver hitch and provide an effective anti-wobble both vertically and horizontally. Thule does offer the EasyFold XT bike rack which is designed to make loading eBikes more convenient and it includes a ramp. The EasyFold XT also offers a different bike locking method which may be better suited for some.
      Regarding the rack movement, first issue noticed in the linked video: th-cam.com/video/y1PSg0MH1Xw/w-d-xo.html is the use of a hitch adapter/extender to convert the 1-1/4 inch hitch to the 2 inch rack and to extend the rack for the rear mounted spare tire. This set up is wrong, it is ill-advised, and potentially dangerous. This two inch rack needs to be installed directly to a vehicle with a 2 inch receiver hitch without an adapter, unless it is Thule's 2 inch extension (max weight of 250lbs TTL). Further, the adapter is held into the hitch using a standard through pin which has no anti-wobble feature. This overall set up will absolutely result in excessive wobble and movement at the hitch interface. Any rack set up in the manner would have the same negative results.

      @@rackattack ~ Thanks! I did go to my local Giant e-bike dealer, where I bought it and he showed me that tightening & loosening moves the wedge in or out. And sounds like your recommendation for the EasyFold XT is the way to go, especially for an e-bike. I'm 5'2" about 130lbs and trying to load the bike solo need ingenuity -- but still more muscles than I have. --- Here's my tip ---- While my car is in the driveway (nose in) -- I back it out until the tires are in the gutter. It drops the whole set up 6-12 inches. Which is helps to put both the rack in the hitch and the bike on the rack. Although, again, being short - it's quite the comedy routine and if not doing my core exercise, my back can whine a bit.
      BTW - your videos are visually and audio wise great quality and super helpful. I watched a bunch of your videos.

    Instead of these rack that hold (barely) the front wheels, why not have a rack that requires the removal of the front wheels and attach them to the rack using a fork mount. That would make the rack much lighter, hold the bikes better, and the big thing make the width of the bikes on the rack about 15" shorter. You would then be able to see the stop lights on the vehicle. Maybe you could even see them with a cover on the bikes. You could bungee the front wheels between the bikes or even keep the wheels in the vehicle. I may actually try this with my modify Thule T2 Pro XTR and see if it works.
