    the 2 bolts holding it on because of its design put plenty grease on them bolts. if the lowers fill with water over time it gets rusted tight and just spins when trying to take off

      never mind it has been discontinued and replaced with the XCR-LO which suntour says will fit but you need to transfer the threaded cap from the old.

    Hey i have a fork very similar to this and the rebound adjustment knob doesnt seem to be connected as it has lost alot of the resistance it used to have...is it possible to over adjust where it runs loose??...it tinkered with the adjustment a few times but nothing extreme so i am a bit confused

    Hey just wondering what happens if you turn the lockout to the half way position? Does it make the compression rate stiffer?

    I have got the xcr Lo fork and removed the lockout cartridge but reddish kind of oil came from the lower bolt. Is this oik from the cartridge or from the fork?

      @@peteroostveen8315 Hey, are you talking about the xcr air lo fork? Just curious but you shouldn’t have a lockout cartridge if you have an air fork. That’s standard, but maybe I’m incorrect. If it’s an air fork then you have to worry about oil from the fork. Let me know if you have an air fork, or give me your exact fork and I can do some research.

      Hey Damián,
      It sounds like the rebound knob (red knob with Allen key) is missing? If so, you should be able to contact Sun Tour and they’ll order one. You’ll need to give them the year, make, and model. If that’s not your issue, can you help me understand what’s wrong?

    My suntour xcr fork doesnt lockout, any idea what is the problem?

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Markus,
      It could be a couple of things; in the video, after I replaced the lockout cartridge, I show a clip of me turning the lockout dial, maybe the lockout cap isn't on properly and isn't moving the dial to the lockout position. Another idea, this video shows me replacing the lockout cartridge because it wouldn't unlock (bad cartridge); it's also possible that your cartridge is bad (won't lockout) and needs to be replaced.

      Nate

    Great video. I have an issue that I cannot remove the bottom bolt. It just spins. Rebound knob won’t move at all. Don’t know how to get this cartridge out now. Any ideas ?

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @TheRightSideOfTheGround,
      If I understand correctly, you pulled the red rebound knob off, and you are trying to loosen the bolt, but it's just spinning? If that's the case, I would try a couple of things; 1st: make sure the top is all put together and tight; meaning, the top of the fork where the lock out lever is. If that's undone and you are trying to take off the bottom part, then it might be causing it to keep spinning. 2nd: I would tap on the bottom bolt with a hammer to try and break-up or loosen the bolt. It sounds like the main issue is the bolt is connected to the inner rod and needs to be broken loose.
      Let me know if you get it figured out.
      Best,
      Nate

      @@watchnato Hey thanks for the response. I am not sure what/how this worked, but I had to hold the bottom silver nut with locking pliers, stuck my allen wrench in the rebound slot and turned it counter clockwise and the not came right out. I tried so many things that my head was spinning, but this is what worked. I put it all back together again and now everything is working perfectly! Very new to this so it is a bit confusing to me but I am getting there. Thanks again Nate

      I just serviced my XCR34 Air fork with the rebuild kit the other day and had a similar issue. Except my issue was that the bottom bolt on the rebound side would just keep spinning as I was trying to put it back together. I believe it had to do with what setting the rebound was adjusted to. To solve it, we stuck just the rebound knob into it’s slot, and turned the knob both ways to see how it acted. I believe when we turned the knob all the way ‘-‘ there was a threaded piece that would screw all the way out of the shaft, and when we turned the knob all the way ‘+’, we noticed the space between the knob and lower legs was the same amount of space as the bottom bolt. So I think we left the rebound all the way ‘+’, pulled the rebound knob out, screwed on the bottom bolt and put the rebound knob back in, and it worked. I believe the issue with the bottom bolt spinning was that it was in contact with the piece that the rebound knob sticks into, so it kept rotating rather than tightening up.

    friend where can i buy the cartridge ?

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Alan,
      Suntour Forks is the best place to go. This specific fork (in my video) is a Suntour XCR; if that's what you have, then you just need to know what year the fork was manufactured, and then compare cartridges. Here is a link the the XCR parts :www.srsuntour.us/collections/xcr-service-parts?page=3
      I hope this helps.

    My rebound dial doesn't change the rebound what do I do

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Charlie,
      I am assuming that the rebound dial hasn't ever really made a difference, is that correct? If so, then I hate to break it to you, but you will not notice a whole lot of change with this specific fork (Suntour XCR). The rebound dial opens and closes a chamber in the lockout cartridge that allows the spring rate to change; however, with this specific fork it is a very small change, so small that you won't notice it. In order to get a feel for how rebound can affect your riding, I would test ride a bike with a higher quality air fork (Fox 34, 36 or Rockshox Lyrik or Pike or something else comparable). I hope this is helpful.
      If you end up liking the fork, then you can replace the fork you have now with the higher quality fork.
      Best,
      Nate

    Hello i have the problem. Can you please help me, when i push them in they wouldnt come back up, and it just blocks like that, and i need to pull them up to get them back, and they wont even go in after some time, and also they are hard to pull in. Some people told me to that i need to rub them with hard paper, and wd-40 but i dont know if that would damage them, idk what to do pls help me. I drive TREK XCALIBER 8, with suntour xcr fork.

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mozzes,
      If I understand correctly, when you push on the legs they go in, but then they don't rebound or come back out, is that correct? The internal cartridge has experienced both situations; in my video, it shows what happens when the lockout cartridge won't unlock. I have spoken to people who have experienced the opposite (the lockout cartridge is unlocked, the legs get pushed in, and then there is no rebound). If that is the case, then you will need to replace the cartridge as well. Let me know if we are on the same page.
      Best,
      Nate
