Remember when Staley was coach and it felt like he revealed everything about the game plan, what we might try to do etc? This staff is so night and day from that it’s almost scary… they reveal NOTHING about the game plan what they expect, who they expect to play with, who they might go after or use heavily… nothing… it’s amazing… give the opponents absolutely nothing extra to work with… and it’s top down.. starts with Hortiz and Harbaugh and it goes from there… Minters conference was the same, said he didn’t want to reveal to much multiple times… love the direction this team is headed
100%. In the last regime we even had players giving injury information away.. I remember Ekeler like an idiot was giving all sorts of info out on twitch. Night and day.
Yes. Staley had low self esteem cuz he had only 1 year as a coordinator. So in press conferences he was wanting to prove how smart he was. Exact opposite of what top coaches do. They don't let reporters push them around! They don't work for the reporters.
They even have the players giving nothing. Just hear Justin Herbert at this conferences

We got real race car drivers behind the wheel of this ferrari of a team. 2-3 years ago we had 8+ players on nfl's top 100 list, and we had taxi drivers as HC.

Coach Roman, please tell #44 to run through his lead blocks. Never see a FB run to his block and set his feet square like he’s pass blocking. It’s rarely effective and we’re still running the ball well, but we could do better. Defenders are knocking #44 back and running by him.
a) He has been a defensive lineman his entire career until a few weeks ago. Chill a bit, ruck.

Roman is a really intelligent human being. He knows football and has innate instinctual response at a very rapid rate. But he also has such an amazingly dry wit, which *only* highly intelligent people can have. You can be intelligent, but not funny. But you cannot be funny without being intelligent.
He continues to gain my trust.
The only problem is the Steelers has owed this dude..

I had no problem with how Popper was questioning Staley last year, brought out that ego and we all saw Staley believed he could do no wrong and the problem was the execution by the players not his scheme or coaching. That’s when he lost any remaining support he had.

WE will have to see about that. I certainly thought that Maxx Crosby would tutor young Master Alt in his debut, but Mt. Alty (Brian Baldinger's nickname) totally neutralized him. Virtually the same with Jadeveon Clowney. I can't wait to watch, especially after the game is over and I can play it back starting and stopping to see the formations and blocking. So much fun.

Gonna need to make sure that the interior of the o-line is secured with Heyward and Larry Okunjobi playing at high levels right now. Not to mention Keanu Benton also playing with a chip. Then you add in the potential for Patrick Queen and Elandon Roberts to also plug the middle it's definitely going to be a dog fight! Then with Watt and Highsmith on the edges with Nick Herbig and that beast Peyton Wilson from NCState also in the rotation it's got all of the makings of a real old school slobber knocker

He’s very predictable too. I remember his days in Baltimore before they ran him out of town. He’s a run run pass type play caller. He forces the run at times.

@@facelessman5362 yes we do. And Limited Herbert Mobility might aid but in the past Herbert has burned us with his legs, hard to stack the box and keep a spy on Herbert. This game is going to take being very Disciplined defense. Ladd and Hurst is who will truly burn us if they get going.

Roman going to test JJ Watt's conditioning thru out game. Watt is GOING TO MAKE PLAYS but being busy thru out game may even get him not being able to finish the game by way of a hammy, fatigue, or serious injury due to being wore down. This is a tactic of such Offenses like Roman's, of Our Big Guys Will BEAT the other big guys persona. Crosby looked tired at the end of Raiders game, and the Panthers were just tired as much as a whole unit of linemen, there were serious wide open lanes of the Panthers game. Pittsburg will not be easy and Tomlin will work his players in practice to keep team from getting too beat up vs Roman's Guys.

*Good luck with that. That Steelers D is the real deal. Best in the league and there is a GAP. Telling ya QBs gonna have a hard time vs Pittsburgh with that pass rush and secondary. And the Steelers invented taking away the run and making team one dimensional. I don't see many teams putting up 20 on Pittsburgh and I doubt it's Chargers. Steelers are just far and away the more superior talented team and the coaches know it*
