      @@mondeogolf Agree that Zen or Russell Heritage would be something for Liam to explore given his set of issues. I am 53 and have 15-20mph quicker ball speed with a 7 iron, he should be getting well above 110mph ball speed with better body movement. My recommendation would be Russell, best technical coach on YT, but I could see Zen working well too.

    Tell you what Liam, anyone who found this video boring or unentertaining, doesn't love golf, for me that was a fascinating insight and not only a golf lesson for you, but a lesson for all of us, me included, that spends or wastes money on a club as a quick/placebo fix instead of going to our pro for an hour, it's definitely worth the money and not only helps us with our enjoyment of this game, but helps our local pro's to do what they love doing and earn a few quid at the same time, rather my money went to them than the American Golf's of the world.
    Cheers fella as always, great content!👏👏👏🍻🍻

    Strengthen that grip Liam, it will help stop the flip and will help the face close to get that inside to out and smash factor up. Kind of surprised coach is not trying to strengthen your grip

    • @rhize797
      @rhize797 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True but you could have an open face to target, if you get the path going outside that it will still create a draw as the face is closed to the path.

    Well this has done me the world of good. I watched Phil Mickelson’s hinge and hold method and was catching the ball lovely, so I have started to introduce it into my full swing holding the wrists as long as possible on the down swing the only way to achieve a square face is to turn the hips more as explained. This proves to me I’m on the right track, I kind of get the feeling of that defensive cricket shot i did as a kid. It’s only taken me 35 years lol.

    I don't have swing path issues like you Liam but I did recently watch a video from Larry Cheung out of Toronto about hip rotation. Same advice you received here. I practiced on the range a couple of times and put it into play for my last round of the year. Tremendous difference for me. Gained distance, higher ball flight, but introduced a pully draw where I usually hit it straight. This makes sense as I've gone from straight to pulling it right slightly closed (left handed) and you started from open and a push. Same effect, different starting point. I made a grip change on the last 3 holes that made a world of difference and straightened everything out but I think we've both hit on a major change here!

  • @TheGolfingCrowe
    @TheGolfingCrowe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    this is a very good lesson he's given you Liam. Doing this exaggerated action before every shot is a brilliant idea too. It's almost worth trying to practice pitch and punch shots doing this too, it helped me really learn to drive through the ball rather than hit at the ball. The left hand does so much in the swing, it's often forgotten. Kudos Liam and Phil

  • @richfrattarelli4294
    @richfrattarelli4294 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Liam, great lesson and vid. One suggestion you may know or it's been mentioned but a way to close the face might be to "bow" the left wrist. You can then keep the lag while closing the face.

    Liam - when you hit balls again with the improved swing (no flick) at the 17 minute mark your distance jumped from the previous 120 yards to 140-145 yards. We all lost our way in this game. Great to see you fine your swing again. Now stay the course mate.

    Great insight into the struggles of the non golfer. One tip I found to square clubface is by rotating and bowing the left wrist so it faces towards the target and down to the ground. Love to see more updates as and when.

    @rowdyroddy519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Liam... Go to 47:19 You need to get to this position all the time...even on your practice swings. That cricket bat release thing you do most of the time is what gets you into problems.

    • @oldprogolf7292
      @oldprogolf7292 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. I have been telling Liam for months, impossible to hit good shots when you follow through round your ankles, particularly when you tend to swing ott. There is a lot of confusion with "flicking" (bad) and "release" (good). Phil changed his emphasis half way through the lesson to getting more release when he realised that delaying the release was not working for Liam.

    Liam, the tip that has help me the most with what you're working on is to get my hands to the right shoulder in the takeaway, then get my hands to the left hip in the downswing. Keep it up mate you'll get there!

Only problem no net winds wrecked it so spent ages just swinging a golf club I’m a swayer backwards and forward this drill is brill for stopping that and producing turn process back and through only problem is the club looks very closed have to wait until I can get out and hit some ball.I grew up watching Phil Archer fantastic golfer and now a very special coach more of Mr Archer please love the comparison of handicap player with tour player special secret moves love them push left hand pull right hand .

    BEST VID EVER I’m only 8 mins in and have already learned more about the fundamentals of the backswing than I knew existed. Phil Archer is dumbing things down to such a level that Liam isn’t making jokes to deflect because he understands what’s being explained (sorry Liam no offence ment I’m not exactly the sharpest knife in the draw either) looking forward to the next 45 mins. Thank you so much to Liam as these videos may not be the ones you want to put out but there defo the ones the golfmates need the most. Looking forward to seeing Phil get your swing to we’re it should be. Jamie’s doing a great job also carnt forget the man behind the scenes making sure you concentrate on your putting lol

    Love seeing the progress made in just an hour. One observations, for what it's worth... If you look at your swing AFTER you've hit the ball, the first 75% is okay (although it still looks quite a bit too slow). The last 25% is an afterthought. It looks like you're realizing you're not done and all the way through to the finish so you just half heartedly complete it. One recommendation too... Swing through the ball, don't stab at it and stop. That's what your coach was telling you when he said "release the club". Great content Liam! Keep up the good work!!!

    what were you having issues with prior? Slicing? Leaking right? After watching this I want to get out and give these drills a go. and see if they help. Great video!

    Love studying the data of golf shots, so interesting to see how such a small change in certain numbers makes a huge difference in the shot outcome , understanding your numbers and launch monitors are key to making any improvements! If your brain understands what them numbers mean and how to change them your body will just react (with a little practice of course)

    Great work! I hate to say it and I'm no club fitter but I think a little assistance with more of a game inproving club with some offset would help. I had the same issues with my swing so I started with some t300 irons to help. Then after alot of work I've now changed them out to 770s. No one cares what clubs are in the bag or how far you hit a 7iron it all comes down to results! You got this!!

    Great to see you improving Liam he’s making it simple for you now just a body release rather than the hands and arms overtaking the body, I’m currently been taught by a tour pro myself, still got a long way to go but I’m getting there. 👍

    Liam had similar the easy solution to getting the club face square is the right palm feel as if you are driving that in to the ground so it is flat, club face sorted then.

    There is always something to take away from your vids....
    Laughter is the best medicine and that i get in every video.
    Confidence is what you need to get the swing working, no harm in getting a check up with the pro.
    We service our cars so why not our swing...get it?...lol
    Love watching the vids so keep em coming...
    Cheers
