AGM STEN MKII: How to make it better

- Hello!
Today we're taking a deep dive into the STEN. I'll show you my mods and fixes for it. If you plan on using it as an smg (1J and full auto) it's playable out-of-the-box. But if you want more range out of it, you'll have to fix it up a bit. Also, since it has a non standard cylinder head it's much more difficult to install an HPA engine into it - it's a custom job.
Anyway, enjoy!
I seriously appreciate these videos man. You've earned my subscription. It helps that you've been reviewing most of the replicas I own!
Thanks! I love retro replicas. And I have a few on the waiting list
;)
@@AirsoftTipsandReviewsis the snow wolf MP18 on your list? Cuz I just got one. Super excited to test it :)
@@HemTight Saddly no. I had a few axis replicas but I sold them all... got to draw the line somewhere
:)
However; maybe I'll get my hands on a MG42 in the following months. And I'll do a video on STG44 (as soon as I get it back)
@@AirsoftTipsandReviews drawing the line in this hobby is smart hahah. And yes, pls cover the STG when you get the time! Thanks mate!!
Hey, thought I'd reach out in case you had any ideas for this. The nearest field for me only allows semi auto, and I love this gun. Would you have any recommendations for a MOSFET to make this semi? I was looking at one called the Warfet online and its supposedly compatible with this guns Gearbox, I just don't know if it would fit as its a bit custom fitted.
Hmm.... Warfet is from Gate (if I'm not mistaken). I have no experience with this mosfet. You could use Perun AB++ mosfet - but that mosfet can go only to 2 shot burst in settings. Basicly, you have two mosfet options: one that uses a magnet in the sector gear for detecting it's possition and a mosfet that measures the power drain on the battery (when the motor is pulling back the spring). And that's the extent of my knowlage about it. I remember seeing a guide or an article somewhere (years back) about some guys atempt to make the STEN semi. Also, I would ask on german forums or shops - they are restricted to semi only.
How would you recommend locking this to semi-auto only? Mechanical, or a MOSFET?
My UK field won't allow me to use one without semi-auto ability
@@DrSeylek mosfet for sure. I have no idea on how would you do it mechanicly. I remember reading somewhere about a guy that made the selector switch functional; so the replica could fire in semi and auto... But I have no idea where I read that. Google is your friend. Or send it to a very good airsoft tech
@@AirsoftTipsandReviews Thanks! Given how old the video is, massively appreciate the quick response too!
@DrSeylek NNNNo problem. And if you have any other questions just ask. The channel is still small enough, that I can reply to every comment
:)
Have you had a chance to get your hands on one of the Northeast STEN guns, from what I've seen they've brought out improved versions of the MKII earlier this year. 🙂
@@gundog39 Sadly no... so far
;)
Besides me, two of my team-mates also own AGM STENs, but no gbb STENs. I must attend more WW2 events....
Just picked up one of these, can you please tell me the specs of the spacer and bolt and spring so I can get these parts ordered up? Thank you
The spacer for the back of the gearbox is 78mm long (i cut a length of an old inner barrel). I don't know of what bolt you're thinking; if you mean the one, that holds the stock to the back of the gearbox, it's 100 mm long. My original spring guide was plastic and didn't have any threads inside of it, so I replaced it with a new one. Also, I had to enlarge the hole in the back of the gearbox, so that the screw could go through it. About the spring; you'll have to tell me more; don't know of which one you're talking about
Where can I find these 120 round midcaps you speak of?
taiwangun.com. They are located in Poland
@@AirsoftTipsandReviews Awesome. Cheers mate!
@@BaldwinVonDresden No problem. I suggest that you disassemble the mags and give the main spring a lite coat of silicon grease (for better feeding)
is there a way to make the mag feed into the gun vertically?
@@dartedvader yes, with some mods. You would need to make new holes for the magwell to lock into. Also, you would need a new hop-up unit. Maybe a P90 hop unit would work, maybe even an Type96 LMG also. If not, then you would need to 3D print one
@@AirsoftTipsandReviews oh cool, i always wanted a MP 3008 but couldn't find a airsoft one
@@dartedvader ou, you want the mag on the bottom. Use an M14 hop unit then. And replace the air nozzle with M14 length as well
