Thank you to everyone for your comments! The outpouring of love amongst remembrance is humbling. While I know I left out a TON of names even among the 72 that I included, please feel free to remember them (respectfully) in the comments. It would take a lifetime to tell the stories shown even in passing through this montage. And, of course, Happy Holidays to each and every one of you. ❤
@@djdeep4 all of those names you mentioned died in 2022, likewise they were all included in my 2022 tribute, which can be found in the playlist on my channel. As for the “500 directors” you’ve bemoaned, Google is a great tool.
THIS is the way the Oscars and others should present their tributes. Music in the background, never the image of the musician on stage interrupting the images of those being honored. No odd camera angles for the portraits. Each honoree clearly identified in an easy-to-read graphic. Thank you.
Yes, TCM always seems to do odd camera angles or inserts something totally unrelated to the person being honored. I also dislike the Oscar ones with the singer onstage - the focus should always been on the person being honored.
I've never been into celebrity worship but I enjoy a good performance and admire talent. Now, at 74 these artists, who have been in my consciousness since my youth, many of whom have enriched my life with their talent and art. To me, this memoriam represents, in part, a memoriam for my youth and that makes their passing seem a personal loss.
Thanks so much for this! Especially for remembering Mark Russell. I saw him perform a few times, met him once and sent him some material (but he had retired. He DID say that he liked the stuff!) He was an inspiration to my brief comedy career about 33 years ago!
Thank you for this lovely tribute. You did an amazing job. It's so hard each year to see who we lost, so many gifted talented people who are now entertaining in heaven. Again, thank you for the lovely tribute.
Thank u for not rushing the images. Some of these r done so fast that u hardly recognize who they r before another 3 images have passed. Very well done!!! RIP to all!
I must be a slow reader… Some of them were going too fast for me. I couldn’t read the names and get a good look at the pictures before it flashed onto the next one
I agree. Yes, that one and only shot of Somers' face in American Graffiti (memorably shot) made such an impact that it lasted throughout the entire film. And I still remember it, all these years later, after seeing it in a theater during it's original run.
This is MUCH better than the tributes that TCM does. For some reason they insert pointless graphics and scenery shots and put the clips/photos of the actors in weird camera angles. Yours is how it should be done. A simple clip or a photo of the person and the film they're connected to. Great job :)
Genuinely pristine and with class. As good as this is, there is always an inadvertent omission, so far none of the memoriams, including the well done TCM, are remembering the steady Mark Margolis.

This year really took a hit creative-people-wise. You did a great job, very respectful and very thorough, except (and there will always be someone you missed, even with a lot of research): GEORGE MAHARIS.
Basically a nice job, omissions notwithstanding. But 1:08..the actress is Gunnel Lindblom (one of Ingmar Bergman's classic "Stock Company"), not Inga Langre. Not a good way to remember either of them.

This was beautifully done. But you could’ve used a better image of Cindy Williams don’t you think. I’m not criticizing I’m a big fan of hers that’s all. Thank you for the time & effort you put into this. The Academy should hire YOU for this segment.
Thank you!! No, haha. I’m only 23 but, for what it’s worth, I once studied for a year a few blocks from Turner. After their editors worked tirelessly to make these, I watched and took note :)
@@dylanjames554 You are TALENTED! I work for Warner Bros in Film Production for 11 years. I've sat in many and editing bay. You seriously need to seek out a job as an editor. You're very very good. Beautiful work.
Whoever decides the length of time each person gets, and what clips to use REALLY sucks at their job. So the actors who passed, ya don’t hear any dialogue for, but if ur a writer or producer, they’ll play dialogue from actors on one of the movies you worked on? 🤔 Yea, that makes no sense whatsoever. That’s just 1 of the 97 things that are inconsiderate about this clip. This is their last hoorah, so to speak. And to do it willy nilly, with just a sad song in the background is disrespectful in my opinion.
@@Lizzie-tudio Wow, great argument. Let’s see if I can argue back with the same convincing argument style you had. Ok, here goes. “Hey Dorothy, it very much IS disrespectful.” Wow, what a genius way to argue. All you have to do, is inform the other person they are wrong, and give no reasons why. You’ve discovered a while new way to argue Dorothy! Just tell someone they are wrong, and move on.

But I LIKE TCM Remembers!!
TCM use to do some really great ones, but I must agree that this beats out TCM REMEMBERS this year.

Very nice. You left one out I think. Walter Beasley. I was also saddened and shocked last week to hear Treat Williams passed. And Melinda Dillon. 😢

It's shocking that Zia Mohyeddin, Peter White, and David Crosby wasn't in the TCM remembers.
Jeff Beck
