  • A raw unedited video of a Friday afternoon job removing a dead Elm tree. In this video we worked on a refurbished property in Knutsford Cheshire. The drop zone was a tight space so I had to cut smaller pieces to be able to land them safely without causing any damage. Watch the video to see how I worked the tree and how we removed all the tree from site.

    Nice work. Even the commando roll lol. That tree looks like a vairety of hybrid black poplar. Bark is dark and grooved. Ring timber is light. Visual appetance fits the bill too. Very common here in Norfolk.

      Haha thanks! The client had very specific trees and I found out later it was an Elm. I wasn't convinced it was a poplar. Good shout though, I thought it was initially.

    Great work..I see you using the Stein wood Dolly ...I'm thinking of getting one ...Are they worth the 💸💸 💰 or do you think a wheelbarrow is just as good or just a plain wood trolley..

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      HI Carlo thanks for watching. Yeah the Stein trolly is ace. Check out the Monkey puzzle we did below. The route out was a tarmac path and we had two lads on the trolly but it can take some serious weight!

    Wasn't it possible to bring the chipper to the tree? You can put a big bag on your dolly for the chips right? Nice video!

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest that never really works, the chip goes everywhere and you then have to man handle a tonne bag of chip onto the back of the van and empty it. Not to mention doing it a number of times. Not a viable option in most cases. Doing the job this way means both climber and groundie are working at the same pace

    What chainsaw do you use when on the tree because company I work for usually go for 151s as it is very light getting up a tree or 201s just for a bit more power

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use 200T/ 201T we don't have the 150s. great little saw but not versatile enough for daily use. brilliant for pruning though. If I was going to get a pruning top handle I would go for the Echo 2511 its a little ripper. There is a video of it on the channel: th-cam.com/video/JRXO6RA-J_U/w-d-xo.html

    Ngl that tree looks like such a widow maker how was it from your point of view as it just looked like dead wood

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it was pretty dead, very strong wood though. I didnt climb any higher just to be safe but after looking at the top there was no need to anyway.

    • @joestimpson1635
      @joestimpson1635 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you judge a safe tree Matt? Love the videos 👍🏻

    • @MattGlynn
      @MattGlynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joestimpson1635 Thanks Joe! Good question that. The honest answer is it just comes with knowledge and experience really. Be safe and dont do anything your not comftable with. Depends on the type of tree too, some can be really brittle when in heavy decline. There are many things you can do when climbing dead/ dying trees.
