My dad was a plumber!Scrapping the wax off with a screwdriver it slipped out of his hand & down the pipe 15 ft! I fished it out what a job never forget that day!No clean out at the bottom old 4" copper pipe! I place an old towel in the hole now when working without a toilet on top.
@@BillyFromTheHills01 I hope if he breaks 1 that he will not show it on utube and just keeps it a secret. Maybe its the way to do it, I go till snug, them take it a 1/4 turn slow. Maybe that last 1/4 turn fast tricks the piece into not breaking?
That bathroom looks exactly like every other rental property bathroom I've worked on and with all the same problems. The tub, the vanity, the mirror. Must have been the cheapest shit you could buy at builders square in 1983.
Yea it sucks working on certain plumbing jobs on older homes. Been there done that. It does feel good after your work is done & the home owner is happy with your work & you get your pay. Then its on to the next hell house!!
Steve, I almost lost it when you said " these nails are giving me the old how ya doin" It's those things that every real working man knows exactly what you're saying. Great job and videos. Steve working again ya'll
Talking about dropping stuff down the wall… when I used to put security systems in houses, I had a fish stick for running wires that’s inside somebody’s wall right now… been there for years. Hated to lose one of my fish sticks 😂
I did a lot of home repairs. When I worked on toilets and flanges I get people asking doesn’t the smell bother you. Most of the time there is no smell. It’s psychological. Garbage disposals smell the worst.
Those electric die grinders with a carbide burr are the perfect tool for opening up smaller areas. Keep a good grip on them - they can get away from you pretty fast.
Steve I do maintenance on my old apt building. Mostly plumbing stuff. Noticed the flang on the last toilet I pulled sat 1/2" under floor finish.I tried 2 wax rings, installed and toilet leaked worse than b4 I pulled it. So I smashed wax in to flang all the way up to finish floor, then added two fresh wax rings and solved the problem. Wish I had know about the extensions! Thanks for the tip!
Oh and just to add I did plumbing installs for about 3 years on remodels/ new construction but never really got into any service. This old buildings been a crash course!
Steven that was a job from hell thank goodness for all the different types of tools they have on the market now it does make our job easier but some of these plumbing jobs you run across sometime or a pain in the butt I never give a bid on the job until I actually look at it and see what I have to do or time and material you can never go wrong
When it came to the tub drain ,I had just started working when those got popular. Everyone including me thought they were great including me, all one unit no tile joints to leak ,easy to clean yadda y!dda! Then they started to cheapen them up, had to throw half a bucket of taping compound under it, but then that shit would shrink, the tub would flex and the drain would leak. That flange should've been machined at the factory and that rocket scientist should have caught it, but? No one saw that big beam the genius hacked out from under the tub. Steven I hope your old school ways are appreciated!
This was a big day. All in a days work for you !🤣 Thanks again for the videos! 🥃🥃🍺🍺🍺🎳⛳ Stay safe. Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses!
Omg this video is super helpful for my tub as my house was a foreclosure and everything of value was stripped so tape is covering the hole where knob deal goes... maybe someday I'll order parts from Boston and get er done... but I'll totally pulling all my cast been slowly switching it as it fails
I made myself a tub drain removal tool from a piece of steel pipe about 8 inches long you just cut notches in end for the cross pieces with a grinder and cutoff wheel or a hacksaw then you can grab it with a pipe wrench and it holds drain really well didn't break cross piece off
Good advice. But in earlier videos Steve had a factory issue drain remover tool and commented on it. Musta lost it. I think he needs an electric screwdriver or two, as well.
@@craigharding475 if he won't go cordless on his grinder he won't go power tool on a screw driver. Honestly he's close enough to retirement the investment wouldn't make sense to change over now. He charges reasonable rates and would have to change that.
@@Boga217 That makes sense, Derek, but I would bet that Steve won`t retire until he is unable to work any longer. He may reduce his hours and with no weekends, and become more selective about customers, and choose more jobs that would make good videos.
A friend told me he uses dish soap and hot water to clear drains. I haven't used a snake since. I use dish soap straight into the drain, then dump in hot water. When the drain starts freeing up, then more dish soap directly in the drain and run hot water. I unplug our toilet many times from others.
I been with you for several years and your still fun as hell to watch ... You and Bourbon make my retirement so much more fun ... Hey to Miss Molly and like your daughter would say , that was a shit show Daddy 😂🤣😂 Thx ...
Our tub has the same issue with the stopper stuck in the pipe. We don't have the luxury of getting to the pipes without destroying both bathrooms as the plumbing shares the same walk back to back... 😩
I haven't seen your vids in forever. I took a break from watching them due to burnout from work. I'm glad i came back!

I stand on the shower drain when ever I take the screws out of a shower valve. I don’t ever want to have to do that
4:15 - OK , u would see the top of a rag shoved into that pipe, in my book , ,
Steven lavimonier you are a cool 👍👍👍😎😎😎👍👍😎😎
1 lesson I learned never open toilet bolts by the open flange lol
That last 1/4 clock wise turn my old buddy puts on a fitting gets me everytime.
Tighten it up to a quarter turn before it breaks.

AND STEVE BECOME VICTORIOUS AGAIN !!!
Oh goody! When I hear plumbing job from hell and nearly an hour long I click immediately.
Glad to see even a pro having trouble getting those tub stoppers out, thought I was just to dumb to figure out how to do it.
Plumbing for me is a Home Depot three tripper, lots of cussing, some tears, and a big PHEWWW when the day is over.
wow you are an amazing Plumber!!
No one could have done a better job with all of this then Steve. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world.
Steven lavimonier you have good plumbing tips 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎👍👍👍That cool
That job fought you all the way! Everything was busted! Impressive patience.
Nothing but quality there. Great job, Steve. You’re a true master plumber.

Tough one young man! welcome to my world
good job Steve keep molly happy
I enjoy your play by play narratives , nice job too. It's not easy on your knees and your back stretching over to replace the tub waste like you did.
“ If you drop that in the wall…..you’ll be eating a shit-sandwich”. ( a Steve classic )
That line cracked me up!
Thank you 😊
These are the best videos on the web. In the trenches. Great work.
Carpenter piped that bathroom in. Plumber came in and fixed the carpenter’s work. Steve is a legend.
When you were working on that toilet flange I kept waiting to hear you say “Why do you wear gloves? I’ll never understand it.” 😂
Or when rubbing the goo and slime on the old tub gasket.
- " I couldn't figure it out. "
Great job
Wow, the tub drain was a PITA..... lucky you had access to the tub plumbing ....
Steve,
I almost lost it when you said " these nails are giving me the old how ya doin"

Steve working again ya'll
Steve, you are a miracle worker. That was a HARD job.
Thanks for taking us for the shit show ride! nice camera work and editing!

That tub was a real fighter! Good to see that you wipped it Steve. Good job 👍

That drain was definitely Queer. If you would have Put some Gizum, down that bathtub drain you might’ve got that plug out.

Don't you just love it ? When a plan comes together .
Nice job Steve. Way to hang in there and get her dun. It ain’t easy being cheesy, she’s a leaker momma she’s a leaker.
Steve does it all,and he can cook too,I dont have patience for cooking.
Steve made this look easy. That’s the proof of a real pro! Joe homeowner would have been stuck on this job for days!

A challenge around every corner. Excellent fixes!
Think I'll stick to installing pop up stoppers in sinks and tubs. Not dealing with flimsy linkages that like to seize.
Good examples of R307.1 & P2705.1

I made popcorn for this one! Great video Steve! You’re always entertaining as well as educational! Hello to Miss Molly too
That bathroom is a money tree. The homeowner better have a fat wallet for renovation.

Love the super V
General Wire co.
Cut the fiberglass tub with tin snips.
Ever try an oscillating saw? I thought they were a joke until i tried one... comes in handy.
The tube made in Pakistan really chewed up that gasket.
Not easy bein good at what ya do
Well done steve great job some people wouldn't tackle thats unbelievable skill
How to stay focused , nice job.
Good work, (as always - you are an artist), thank you for the video!

I use your tech tip all the time, thanks!

the rag is a 'special tool'. As an auto tech one of my special tools was dental floss for working inside car doors on the lock mechanisms.
Steve you are The Man !
Good enough for this neighbourhood
I see you gave it a good douche of the old Kroil Mama! That stuff has worked wonders on getting stuck things apart.
Nice video Steve!
Nice to be able to see those pipes seems like I always cut open wall or jackhammer floors great video Steve as always

that probably works well in kitchens for grease, but bathrooms are mostly hair i doubt it would work there
You earned it on that job!
Great video !! thank you
"lotta nails in here, just givin' me the ole how ya doin right in the shoulder"
Bonne promenade !
Wow, whoever was a tenant there completely trashed that bathroom. Thanks God Steve L was there to help out!
Something queer about that tub stopper mechanism.
More Mr. Grinch please!!
Time for a sunday meals ahead cooking video.
Another adventure!

So you wanna be a plumber... Damn... Steve your the best...
Did you replace the u shaped water deflector before putting the shower faceplate back on?
At least, there was very easy access behind the shower wall! 😆
hi steve can i use plumbers putty for bathtub drain on acrylic tub? ive seen people say its bath for the plastic
Excellent video Steve, first class shit show.
The stopper assembly / design is a nightmare. Geez. I will stay with my little rubber stopper.

Highly probable he placed the 10-10 warranty, 10-minutes to service truck, or 10-minutes, whichever arrives first.
