- Now this battle was quite fun , just like I expected . Some strategic switching was required; I was hoping that Gengar would kill Rhyperior in one hit , then I got really lucky that Machamp flinched . Other than that , no real hard challenge . Now it's training time before we challenge the Elite Four again !

I just legit realised that Falkner AND Blue's Aces are both Pidgeot. Just convenient it's both the first and the sixteenth gym leader.
Ace means trainers favorite and strongest pokemon for example cynthias ace is garchomp

I messed with the DS clock, which the game penalizes you for, so I couldn't get the necessary dialogue from his sister.

Cr0Nix SaV3s you know those daily things, such as getting a haircut, if you mess with time, the game acts as if you've done that already. The lesson is: don't mess with time.
TurquoiseStar17 The trick is to make it 11:59 pm on your ds clock, wait for it to turn to midnight in the game, then fast forward time on the ds. I did that and it worked.

I get the idea of giving Blue Pidgeot as his ace here, but I think Rhydon should have been the ace from the beginning since the Viridian City Gym Leader was originally a Ground-Type specialist.
I already did Diamond , so I won't do it again . Only Platinum :P
Shouldn't be Rhyperior be he's highest Pokemon. I wish that since Falkner he's highest Pokemon is a Pidgeot too

valentin Delmaire that's because his Pokemon style is set, not shift. You can change that in Options.
You can fight the final gym leader of Kanto, Blue in a rematch, who you once fought in Viridian City. He'll have Exeggutor, Rhyperior, Arcanine, Machamp, Tyranitar, and Pidgeot. Though you already have the Earth Badge. And with that, you're all done with fighting all 16 gym leaders. But don't worry, you can fight them again daily.
I have both , but I didn't start them yet .

I was thinking about Blue using this Pokemon team: Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon (which 1 of those 3 would you guys prefer?), Rhyperior, Magnezone, Scizor, Mamoswine and Blastoise.
That wouldn't make sense cuz Red and Blue's teams are based off of Pokemon Yellow so Red would have to have another pokemon to replace the Blastoise
I was only thinking about if Blue would use these Pokemon because since his Rhydon evolved, then he might've evolved his Magneton, Scyther and Piloswine.
Blue doesn't use his starter in G/S/C/HG/SS so that his team is the same for everyone, regardless of which starter they chose in the Kanto games.

Why'd he replace Gyrados with TTar? Is it cuz ur starter was Chikorita?
His Arcanine also changed. It had Intimidate at the gym, but now its ability is Flash Fire.
I think he did that because Clair has a Gyarados, so they wanted to minimize overlapping between Gym Leaders.

These games suck with the underleveling in the first half of the game and the time issues with getting the numbers for these rematches AND then having to remember which times they're in the dojo. Platinum's battleground was better, full stop.
I don't find the lacking level scales that bad honestly. It doesn't bother me.
Platinum; on the other hand, is very underleveling.

In Platinum Battleground you could only battle a few gym leaders once a day and the selection of leaders was random so i didn't care for it that much personally

I know that alakazam has a higher speed and sp attack stat with stab psychic but gengar has a great typing againts grass and ghost types and stab shadow ball and sludge bomb
Why not both? Both have good stats and move pool.
xX Robert Xx Both are cool but If you want just 1 sp attacker I'd go with the one who fits more in what my team needs, poison type was not that neccesary before fairies (talking about coverage) and kazam hits hard with shadow ball as well. Personal taste I would pick Kazam.
I like Gengar more because of the wider move pool personally
Great battle but considering red's whole team is in the 80s I feel he should be higher level like maybe his team is around 77 or so and his ace is 80-81
they nerfed hm as a gym leader, which is weird because then everyone who wants the 8 badge will fail, since blue is better than lance.
AJ Tallent The thing is that Red, in this game at least, is portayed as the strongest, as the champion of Kanto, so naturally, he should be stronger
Also, the difference is not abysal, Blue's strongest is level 72, and Red's weakest is level 73
AceMercer AMV But in the originals, Blue's strongest is lvl 60 pidgeot I think? there is a big difference with Red's and they were not that different in terms of power and skill tbh. It was more because he became a gym leader so having a lvl 70 team would be broken. In my opinion Blue should stay as champ or a strong npc which you could battle after getting the 16 badges because even though is so cool having him as gym leader, i just feels weird since he is better than the elite/champ. Kanto trainers sure have a big challenge lol.

This guy is fake. His Gengar should not have survived that Stone Edge. Also in Platinum some of his ko's of opponents were unbelievable.
I was going to ask Rhyperior managed to survive a Enegy Ball (4x weak to Grass) from Gengar with his low SpD (Yes, I'm aware of the 7 levels of adanvantage)
But I'm more curious about that fact that Gengar's paper defenses took a STAB Stone Edge from a 7 level stronger RHYPERIOR!

gengar is not the right type, he need to have the same type as his attack, so there is missing some damage.
AceMercer AMV The two posts you got concerning how Rhyperior survived an Energy Ball from Gengar are spot on, so nothing else needs saying there. As for how Gengar survived a STAB Stone Edge from Rhyperior...the only thing I can see is that Gengar had a nature that bolstered its defense (bold, impish, lax, or relaxed) and Rhyperior had a nature that hindered its attack (bold, modest, calm, timid), plus factor in possible IVs and EVs for each Pokémon. I would be surprised if those weren't in Gengar's favor.
Rhyperior's Ability is Solid Rock which reduces the super effective and not very effective taken from the enemy.
Because gengar has good defense ivs and rhyperior has bad attack iv's probably.

Those were Stadium 2 only. His Round 2 team consists of the Johto Gym Leaders' ace Pokémon, plus the Rocket Executive's Houndoom.
