I'd take AM4 over AM5 any day. AND they're still making new AM4 processors !!! Nice board even tho it's not MSI. 😄 Thanks for sharing kids. Take care everyone and be safe out there.
@@mikesunboxing Unfortunately, this CRT probably weighs at least as much as all of my LCD monitors put together!! And it takes up a lot of room. 😜 But it does look nice.
Hi, Mike. I'm still interested in AM4 items. However, I question the choice of buying a B550 over some of the excellent X570 motherboards available. The Strix board featured in the video appears overly bright to me, in my not-so-humble opinion. If it were mine, I'd remove the shroud and heatsinks to paint them black. Regarding RGB, I appreciate having 4-pin 12v RGB connectors because I prefer them over the 3-pin 5v A-RGB version, which requires software for control. Since I mainly use a single color, typically red, connecting the Red lead and ground gives me red fans as if by magic. Cheers!
@@PapaMav I disagree. X570 has better PCIe 4.0 Support, and a more robust power delivery system, making them better suited for overclocking high-end CPUs, such as Ryzen 9 processors. X570 motherboards fully support PCIe 4.0 across multiple slots, including the primary PCIe x16 slot for the GPU and M.2 slots for high-speed SSDs. X570 chipsets are considered the flagship chipset for AMD Ryzen processors, offering the most features and capabilities, including support for multiple GPUs (CrossFire/SLI). In summary, X570 motherboards are geared towards enthusiasts like me who are willing to pay more for better performance.
Sadly a lot of the X570 (which arrived long before B550) suffered with poor VRM setups and buggy chipsets. The B550 range on the whole fixed a lot of the early problems for some manufacturers, so it would be a bit of a mixed bag. Some B550 boards are better and more reliable than their X570 equivalent models. Now X570S that is a different story
Hi, Mike. I’m planning to build my first pc ever using this Asus ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard. And it gives me 2 notes: Note: A USB 2.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 header adapter is required. Note: A USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2 header adapter is required. Do you have any advices?
AM3 is still being used in places, so a would expect AM4 to have maybe another 5 years or so of being used by a good number of people. It is a good investment for those with limited funds as the total cost of ownership is still a good chunk less than AM5
I bought this board used/very good off of Amazon, along with G.Skill Trident Z Royal 4000 RAM, and my board hates RAM. I kept getting the yellow RAM light, so I bought another RAM kit, Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 3600, and I still have a RAM yellow light!
@@mikesunboxingyeah everyone I talked to said it sounds like a bad board, so I just ordered another one that’s brand new and I’ll have to go from there, and disassemble everything and rebuild it 😩 I don’t think I’ll be able to use my 4000 RAM though. My CPU was bought brand new at Best Buy, so it better not be bad!
Does it support 5600G/X processor? what is the best motherboard for 5600G/X processor? which one is better B550 A or B550Falso which graphic card is good with these Processors for full HD game playing?
Both ASUS ROG Strix B550-A Gaming and ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming should have the same VRMs design. The B550-A doesn't have the RGB logo that the B550-F has. They have the same ports (m.2, usb etc.). The B550-E is a different story, because it has a little stronger VRMs design and it can run the two PCI-E x16 slots at x8 simultaneously (and few other changes/additions, like wifi, usb-c header etc.). I think that there is also the B550-XE variant, but at that price you should better buy a X570 motherboard. So, if you find ASUS ROG Strix B550-A Gaming at good price, go for it. With a 5700X, or a 5800X3D, or a 5900X you can build a fast system that will work for you, for the next 5 years.

PS Big O, while many brag about "over clocking" that has also proven to be a neglible increase in performance.

If your Board has a RGB 4 pin header, still a few decent 4 pin RGB PWM fans, LED Strip Lights to add a splash of colour to you build.
probably at decent prices as well
